It's a shame I can't import my PC save over to the ps4. But an interactive back story would be nice so I could at least get close to my original save.

starchild3947d ago

If you have a gaming PC why would you switch over to the PS4 for The Witcher 3?

That makes no sense at all. It will look and run the best on the PC, you will be able to transfer your save state from the second game, and you will be able to take advantage of all the mods that will be made with the toolset they are releasing with the game.

pecorre3947d ago

I played The Witcher 1 and 2 on my PC at max setting (but without ubersampling in 2). Anyway, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to run the witcher 3 at max setting on my pc and since I am buying a PS4, I decided to buy The Witcher 3 on PS4.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. An interactive comic would be nice.

HeavenlySnipes3947d ago

That would mean we'd need a Witcher 2 for PS4/PS3

starchild3947d ago

No, they are talking about making an interactive question and answer recap of the second game for PS4 users, much like Bioware did for Mass Effect 2 on PS3.

FlyGuyHung3947d ago

I'll be picking this up for XboxONE since i played Witcher 2 on 360.

CrossingEden3947d ago

what's the point of a import save feature for the ps4 if they didn't get the witcher 2? seriously, i don't see the point in witcher 3 on the ps4 because the story is so deep and full of lore that doing what they did with mass effect would not help at all to help ps4 fans catch up with the series

GameCents3947d ago

Good grief why do people struggle with this SIMPLE concept!!: Just because a person buys an Xbox One/PS4 next gen, does not mean that he/she had only an X360/PS3 this gen.
A person could very easily have owned an X360 this gen but have intentions of only buying a PS4 next gen. This very person may have also played The Witcher 2 on 360.
Should people like that miss out on TW3 on PS4 just because the series has not appeared on PS before?

This is just like last gen when the ps children were crying over the fact that DMC and Tekken were coming to 360, as if once you buy a certain brand console you have to stick with it forever.

Sorry for the rant, this logic just grinds my gears.

CrossingEden3947d ago

um, that logic could apply to any third part exclusive games but i don't see you saying that when it comes to planetside 2 -_- also, on ps4, you can't import a save so you get a lesser experience

GameCents3946d ago

What does PlanetSide 2 have to do with this?
Also, a marginally lesser experience does not warrant skipping the console entirely.
Also, should those that have never played TW 1 and 2 not bother playing 3 at all?

CrossingEden3946d ago

um yes, those who didn't experience the witcher 1 and 2 shouldn't bother with the witcher 3, because what's the point of going through a 100+ hr story when you don't know 99.9% of the context of the characters, actions, appearances, world events, dialogue, environments, enemies, antagonists, i'm not saying that they don't deserve to play the game or anything like that, i just don't think that they should bother if they are going to get a much lesser experience out of the game, the witcher is a very niche series that's over twenty years old compared to say kingdom hearts 3, plenty of people had a ps2, played the kingdom hearts series and then went on to buy and stick with the xbox brand

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan20d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

Infinite but not the first two games? Witcher 3 but not the first two games?? GTA V but not literally any of the games before it??? Portal 2 but not the first? Also if you're going to play Shadow of The Colossus play the remaster and not the remake. Can't say I disagree with the list but my man it's all over the place.

Name Last Name43d ago

I mean some sequels are objectively better and you don’t need to play the whole series.

Inverno43d ago

But most of these games have a story to follow, sure you can catch up with a YouTube vid but where's the fun in that?

LucasRuinedChildhood43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

A list like this isn't telling you not to play the previous games if you want to. It's just giving you legendary games to play.

But tbh, you don't always have to force yourself to play every entry in a franchise to get to the better ones.

- The vast majority of Witcher 3 players never played the first 2 and had a great time. The first 2 games aren't in the same league.
- The GTA games are self-contained with the odd fun reference. You can easily jump into any of them.
- The Shadow Of The Colossus remake looks and controls better than the original (plus it has a 60fps option while the remaster is just 30fps). New players will enjoy it more.
- Portal 2 is a lot better than Portal 1 and takes the concept much further gameplay-wise. Storywise, Portal 1 is fairly light too. Not that you shouldn't play it but realistically ... you'd love Portal 2 whether you play it or not (at lot of Portal 2 players have never played 1).

Bioshock 1 is the only one I agree with you on simply because it's one the best games of all time and arguably better than Infinite. No other setting like Rapture.

Looking at the list, I'd recommend playing Uncharted 1 before 2 but no doubt, 2 is the legendary one you have to play.

Inverno43d ago

I get it, but that's just my opinion on his opinion. I just think that before you play a sequel you should still play what came before it. Maybe it's just me but i find it fascinating playing through the first game in a series and seeing how it has evolved through its sequels. Like I said I don't disagree with the list, other than SoTC which I strongly believe the remaster of the original should be played above the remake.

AuraAbjure43d ago

Awesome list! Hot take on Fear (and it's hard af expansion Persaus Mandate!) Bioshock Infinite is stellar, so is the Witcher 3 and you nailed it by having Ocarina of Time. So many fantastic games! Gotta play 'em all! Next one on my list is Prey after I beat Dead Space 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.
