This is just another way of saying we're including features that require that you have a device that is sold separately. Suddenly the price gap isn't quite as big. And, the functionality of the eyetoy is rather limited by comparison.

Sony is for the gamers. Say what you will about them both being businesses to make money. But they both had a choice.

Microsoft went the route that Nintendo went offering all these services most Core gamers do not want because we already have them on our phones and tablets etc. Sony went ALLOUT on GAMES, DEVELOPERS and GAMERS. End of story. They singlehandedly forced microsofts hand in curbing their policies until the next nextgen.

We asked for a system WITH A GAME for $500 and SONY DELIVERED!! =) Look back at my post history. $500 with a game. Asked and delivered.

That's the system, a game and a PS+ sub to play that game with online multiplayer and also grant you over $1,000 USD worth of free games each year all for $500. Not to mention the steep, steep discounts. I can't count the number of games i've bought this year for anywhere from under $1 to $3. Me and my friends dont have enough time to play all the games we have before PS4 comes out...

It is an unbeatable value. A gtx 780 alone will cost me $650. Here you have a platform with online, a release day game and tons of free games in the future via plus. Thats unbeatable. Even if you're a pc gamer, I say get a PS4 and do both for the exclusives.

The advantage the xb1 has right now is only for the kids who want to play the call of duty map packs first. I believe battlefields map packs also launch first on XB1. But I see this as an advantage for sony players.

By having all the cod heads stick to the xbox we get a better, more open minded community. A more open minded community that will want to play brilliant games like journey, the last of us, flower, gravity rush etc. Games you can only get with Sony.

Also by waiting to buy these games I will get the version that comes loaded with all the dlc for a much lower price. With BF3 you paid 60 at launch and another 30 for the season pass when you could have waited and spent $40 on the full version less than a year later.

So really it depends on what types of games you want to play. If all you play is CoD and Battlefield you might want to go with XB1. Or if you really, really want to play Killer Instinct. Titanfall was honestly the most impressive game on show this E3 in my opinion but I think it will be even better when it releases on PS4 with all of its DLC and its better graphic card/memory.

Really when you cut down all the bullshit from my previous post it comes down to the exclusives. I trust Sony to put out better exclusives that arent all meathead based.

I liked Fable 1, but the series doesnt seem to have improved much and the guy who makes those games is always in the news saying something batshit crazy that makes me want to smack him.

Killer Instinct is their best card right now since Titanfall is a timed exclusive. But this is the same company that pretty much destroyed Rare. They went from making games like Perfect Dark and DKC to Viva Pinata or some other bullshit.

I mean $100 is trivial to me. I don't care that much. It was more the way they actually got me hyped with their stuff i actually want like a controller redesign and good price. They made me want to give them my money.

It might turn out that XB1 actually does have some better exclusives. It really is too soon to call it. But right now you have a choice between which company you want to give your money to. And i'm backing Sony all the way.

Xb1 is really going to be forcing the camera on you a bit more with more kinect based software. Dont misread what im saying though. I think sony will push to sell the camera too or 3rd party will with their games. But I see a lot more motion control games coming on the xb1 compared to the PS4 from microsoft since it is one of their key advantages. Personally I just like playing my games with a good oldfashioned controller. So agian if you like motion control then you might actually want an XB1.

I see the Xb1 as more of the family type device particularly with the family share and the kinect.

This console war will be fantastic because it's going to test the waters for games vs mediacenter/family device. I think the PS4 is going to mop the freaking floor with the XB1 and prove to these companies that we care about the games. Not the bullshit. Case in point: the WiiU's absolutely stellar performance before their e3 game announces. I do believe they can turn it around tho. Smash Bros and DCK TF will be sick. They need to build on that and they definitely need to start hitting the older age groups if they ACTUALLY BELIEVE what Reggie was saying about their software selling the console.

Honestly if you're not making your decision based off exclusives you should just save your moeny and buy a pc.

And personally the used game dealy doesnt matter to me one bit. I always buy new and actually would have preferred everyone else to. This just shows that Sony was going to bundle the camera with the PS4 from the get go, with the PS4 being more expensive... After Microsoft's debacle they removed the camera to sell it separately, bringing down the PS4 price. Smart move by Sony.

The playroom requires the camera so most likely most users won't use it, since they won't purchase the camera.

It'll mostly likely give incentive for people to buy it though . w/ x1 having kinect as a standerd, 3rd parties can use pretty much use the programing from kinect as an additional option for ps4 games with the pseye almost securing that devs will give utilize it . Steam, itunes, PSN store, Live Marketplace and a whole slew of retailers that deliver content via download adhere to the REAL terms of use outlined in your games user agreement. This is the future of content delivery. If you had issues with ripping your game to your HDD and having access to it anywhere and anytime with out needing the disc, yet still have the ability to trade it in at a retailer, you are going to be one unhappy camper.

Did you really just say having a headset with every console is a bad thing? First of all it costs Sony near to nothing to include a headset like the one they provide and probably does not affect the price of the PS4.
Also, they do give you options, you could use any headset you want, it does not have to be the cheap one they included.
Its like saying why do they include a controller with every PS4, a lot of people will end up using a headset unlike the camera.

Good call beach. You can see from a mile away that they are trying to entice people to buy the camera which they removed from the bundle to get a price advantage. This is a two sided sword as I mentioned before. It gives the upfront price advantage, but they need a huge install base for the cam to get strong developer support for it. If Kinect 2 becomes something that is supported heavily it could be enough to push some sales M$ way. Sony is aware of this, but thinks the lower price point is the safer bet.

M$ removed the head set because they are thinking people can use Kinect as their chat mic. I think this is a mistake, because the mic allows you to have a conversation while others in the room focus on other things. But the 2 can not be compared because of their prices and gaming potential.

Kinect is an integral part of the system. Having one that comes with every XB1 means devs can take advantage of it.

It means that they see the benefits of every household that has an XB1 has Kinect.

Going by your argument, I could complain that Sony is forcing me to pay $60 for a controller that I don't like with my PS4 when I will just end up buying a 3rd party controller with offset analog sticks and toss the PS4 DS4.

Kinect is integrated with XB1. "Forward Thinking" In order for MS vision to come to fruits, they see that they need to add Kinect.

Sony clearly had intentions of adding the Eyetoy 2.0 but decided it would look better for customers to see the PS4 $100 cheaper then the XB1. However, this comes at a cost to Sony's future visions if they want to make a game that would utilize the eyetoy 2.0 let alone other devs....Without it integrated with the system, devs will just ignore it since they know not everyone will have it...thus it will get little support...*cough* PS Move *cough* and then be a failed idea.

You should go back to the kiddy table a and leave the forward thinking to the adults.

Kinect was utterly useless and inaccurate, move was a lot more precise ( don't believe me, play table-tennis on both and see which allows you to backspin, slice and cut the ball properly).
Kinect 2 is supposedly a lot more accurate, maybe it's even on par with the move now!
My questions are, if its so good for developers to have one in every machine and is so 'forward thinking', why have titles that were unveiled as kinect-only titles (ala Ryse) changed course so drastically? Why has this wonderful revolutionary gadget been downgraded to a secondary alternative?

Could it be that its still a piece of crap with regards to its use as a game controller? And if indeed (as I expect) that is the case, what incentive does that give to developers to create anything meaningful for it?

Because since 2009, many said...Move? who the hell wants Move, Move sucked, Move flopped, its failed, Kinect sold much better, Sony just copied what Nintendo already innovated.

this has gone on for over 4 years now, why not just concentrate on what playstation Gamer's want. they make it an option if people want it.

even with the EYETOY for the PS2 Sony made many games using the camera, and they sold 10 million+ camera's, but the real truth of the matter is many playstation gamer's only really use the eyetoy, the playstation Eye for video chatting or voice communication . If developer's want to make a voice enabled, or Camera controlled software for entertainment, you still can.

But its an "Option" Sony tried to get more camera enabled games for the playstation, investing in AR gaming, hell even the PSVita has already a good number of AR games, but its clear many Gamer's really are not that interested it it being a mainstay experience for their gaming. we are talking about over a decade worth of investment and it still has not really done any real movement in getting the core gamer's excited for it.

That's exactly why Sony is concentrating on the game pad and updating that with adding a slide mouse touch screen and a share button, nothing really unique about that but atleast its more in line with a control method of that of a PC: Mouse.

Also many seem to forget Sony has been working on a VR headset similar to the Oculus Rift for years now. I could see that comming out within the next 5yrs easily. Not sure how much computing power is needed but it will prob be useable on multiple devices including PS4.

Look Sony has been investing in camera enabled gaming since the very early days of the PS2 we are talking about over a decade of investment, and in that time the Playstation core gamer's has really no real interest into making it a mainstay for their idea of what is a core gaming experience they care about.

Does sony offer that experience for the playstation Gamer...yes they do.

Is it being developed to be the main core functionality of their system, No...that is what over 10 year's of investment has told Sony, many of the playstation core gamer's are not really interested in it as a main core functionality for gaming.

for communication sure, for maybe adding some thing's to games maybe. but its not being the main control method for their playstation system.

and because its preloaded like the AR games on my PSVita means i can use them or not if i do not care to use or play them, yes the Playstation 4 camera
does not ship with the PS4 in the box, but i can get the camera if i want it. and the camera does allow my PS4 to do video chat. which is what many PS3 user's used the d@mn playstation Eye for anyway.

Many development studios 3RD PARTY AND 1ST PARTY DO NOT REALLY CARE ABOUT MAKING MOTION CONTROL GAMING A MAINSTAY CONTROL METHOD FOR GAMING ON A GAME CONSOLE, 10 YEAR'S! 10 D@MN YEARS WORTH OF INVESTMENT AND IT STILL HAVE REALLY GONE NO WHERE.

Many developer's are not really that interested, and i would imagine it will be the very same thing for the xboxone, many gamer's want game pad control, or keyboard and Mouse. Many PC gamer's have already had access to Camera game controls also, but once again the keyboard and mouse or game pad is the mainstay, not Camera control method being the main system for control's for game's.

I said the same thing a few weeks ago. Including periphs in the box will allow developers to reach a larger audience. Move failed because people didn't want to buy an optional accessory and the game selection was abysmal.

Two strategies at work...I think bundling the kinect will go a long way because it makes sense if you believe in it and it's future uses as part of the console, not just a sum.

That sounds really convenient. Lets say your on vacation and there's a limited sale a PS4 titles. What do you do!? You whip out your phone, take care that sale and have it downloaded and installed before you even get home.

And then you break out the Vita...

You can already use the online web store for most of that with PS3 (purchase and adding to download list), PS4 will add the download and install.

The main feature of this seems to be not needing a PSN Card or a Credit/Debit card linked directly to your SEN account but instead have billing linked to your mobile carrier account (I assume there will be an app or something to link it on console/website). Also gives more people the option to buy and just pay a monthly bill like only a credit card can do on PS3/Vita.

One other great feature is all mobile carriers that I know of allow you to pay by check or credit/debit and CASH if you go to a physical store which suports your mobile carrier.

Unbelievable. Talk about "drinking the Kool-Aid." Basically, Sony is preloading the ability to use its own add-on devices and that is praiseworthy news? They are not giving you anything!? And this article is full of gaps in logic:

And then the very next paragraph:

Do you realize how illogical you are being?
