Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS: What Characters Should Be Axed? (8bitfix)

8bitfix writes: We thought about putting together a list of characters who should throw in the towel for the next round.

Please note: The characters that appear on this list are not necessarily bad, many are quite good. It's just that some are being excluded, or even being modified or substituted, for the sake of seeing something new done in the series. Past experience has also shown that some other characters are excluded since we've seen several "clones" left behind from Melee going into Brawl, or it could be another reason entirely, like the character's overall popular status. So don't see the characters below and immediately assume the worst. Read the accompanying text to understand where we're coming from. Even then, in the words of Emperor Satoru Iwata: "Please understand."

Get rid of Mr. Game and Watch!

PopRocks3593943d ago

No. Game & Watch has a unique move set AND he's a part of Nintendo's history. He practically launched with their first handheld gaming device.

Get rid of wolf, falco, toon link,Dr Mario, and the Isaac, they really should just be costumes.

AceOfCakez3943d ago

Get rid of all the characters that have the exact same moveset as another character. Either that, or give those characters completely new movesets (like Ganondorf)

kirbyu3943d ago

I don't think Jigglypuff needs to be removed, just made better. But if she is removed, don't make her a Pokeball, make her a character in the cutscenes.

TruthbeTold3943d ago

Metaknight, Wario, Toon Link, Snake, Pokemon trainer, and maybe Falco.

It's a "scroll wheel" feature on the controller. Switch 2 rumored to have one.

XiNatsuDragnel137d ago

Scroll wheel would be in line with nintendos uniqueness I find appealing imo.

Rainbowcookie136d ago

Just wish they would lower their prices after games are a few years old. Its hard in countries where the exchange rate kills gaming. 1 game is = to and 1/8 of their paycheck. Hard to play a nice mario when its like that.

0hMyGandhi136d ago

Damn, you guys got mean marios over there?

GotGame818136d ago (Edited 136d ago )

Nintendo used to lower prices back in the Gamecube Wii days. They were called Nintendo Selects and priced $20.00. They haven't done that in years. Nintendo should!

FinalFantasyFanatic135d ago

@GotGame818,

I miss those days, they didn't even lower prices for 3DS games before they scuttled new Eshop purchases, or prices on physical copies. I've also noticed the discounts for Switch games aren't as good now that the pandemic has been over for a while, especially on first party games. I wish they would bring the Selects back and drop $20 off the price permanently.

DazaMc136d ago

It's about time for Arkanoids return!

Brazz136d ago

Scroll Wheel would be very cool. Legit great feature for games that need select skills, itens, weapons, etc.

Tacoboto136d ago

Especially if "next to the triggers" means clickable scroll wheels instead of bumpers/L1R1.

That would be so great for games where those buttons already bring up in-game select wheels

Knightofelemia136d ago

Was not one of my favorite consoles but the shit a person could do with it. A gameboy player was about the reason why I liked the GC. And taking it apart to clean it pretty simple I wish Nintendo would let the gameboy player work on the Switch.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Has Been Labelled A ‘Masterpiece’ By Super Smash Bros. Creator

Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has spent his weekend playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and has come away more than a little impressed, labelling both games as masterpieces.

eagle21175d ago

Nice! I guess he considers them a "smashing" success. ;p

InUrFoxHole175d ago

Well played sir... well played!

CrimsonWing69175d ago

You win “comment of the day!”

Tzuno175d ago

He must be having quite a low standards when it comes to games
Saying that Reskin 2 is Masterpiece... lol

Dandizzle175d ago

salty much? SM2 is absolutely a masterpiece.

Unknown_Gamer5794175d ago

Just a troll who can’t handle MS taking third place yet again with 2023 exclusives, with their supposed “GotG” not getting the reception it was expected to. Nothing to see here.

GrizzliS1987175d ago

What does he know, 7/10 no name reviewers are much more credible.
Ps: starfield 10/10 easily

FinalFantasyFanatic174d ago

It's Sakurai, I think you need to learn your game developers better, in fact, he has a whole Youtube channel dedicated to game design. I think he knows a thing or two about what makes a good game.
