Say what you will about Dynasty Warriors 8 – These 50 character renders are stunning

Dynasty Warriors 8 follows the stories of the kingdoms of Wei, Wu, Shu and Jin through the actions of historical military and political figures of the time as they fight to gain control over the Three Kingdoms of China. Any game that has the number 8 after it might want to take a long hard look at itself in the mirror. Having said that you can’t really blame the character artists working for Omega Force because these renders are pretty stunning.

I love DW games and will always love DW games. I can't wait for DW8, just like how some people can't wait for Mario 202 and Zelda 20 and Metroid.....7?

Dynasty Warriors 3 was the best Dynasty Warriors game with very good AI.
And Dynasty Warriors 8 will be also a good game.
There will be three different Mosou-Attacks in Dynasty Warriors 8.

Interesting, do you think they add fresh new things to the games, or is it basically the same formula?

I know they don't addd much if anything to the series with each game aside from new characters and play styles. They don't change the basic formular in DW.

Usually though, people I know rip apart DW for being the same yet praise Zelda and Mario for staying consistant. Why is it bad in 1 case and good in another? I just don't get it.

meh, same thing same archetypes no minimalism in the character design and i guarantee that there will not be a single original personality in this game, so not interested

I have DW2 and DW4. The games after that weren't apealing to me (characters with other weapons, big no for me)

Dynasty Warriors use to be one of my most favourite gaming series. Though somewhere in the middle, it just felt like they were playing it too safe with each version.

Though there is so much untapped potential in the game it is unreal. If they included more sophisticated AI and maybe a commander system where maybe you can also have your own battalion of soldiers, then I would chuck my cash at them like no tomorrow.

Help me out here. I am very confused (this is legitimate, OK?)
There was a series that I played on either PS1 or PS2 where you would strategically train troops, buy equipment and so forth. I don't recall the fighting being third person, it was more like I can take over lands from different shoguns or dictators or something like that...
Has that series evolved into this hack and slash (no offense)?
I'm confused because I cant recall that games name and I would like to see if they have a newer version of this game. I want to play it.
I hope I wasn't describing this game wrong.

Dynasty Warriors 1 was a ps1 game, and played like Tekken or something. All subsequent games up until like 6 were on the ps2 and played like this game (DW8) does. 7 was on the Ps3 and Xbox360, as 8 will be.

Unless you're thinking of the Dynasty Warriors Empires expansions. They were all on the Ps2, and I think 6 got one too. I've never actually played any of them.

Seems too similar to 7. Same weapons, slightly modified character models. I honestly prefer to buy every 3rd or 4th DW game that comes out, there's big enough of a difference between them. I bought 2, then bought 3 because I loved 2, but I didn't bother with 4, 5, or 6, because 4 and 5 were just too similar to each other and to 3, and 6 went in a direction that seemed bad to me. 7 looked like a proper next-gen DW game so I got it and enjoyed it a lot. This game looks like a 7 expansion pack.

I'll hold out till 9 since that'll probably be next gen, I just hope it isn't another 6, then I'll have to wait for 10.

Also Warriors Orochi is easily the best Warriors series. They should just make them. Every DW and SW game just retreads the same history over and over. With WO they could introduce new fictional stories for each game, and still retain all the DW and SW characters we know and love.
