Bethesda: ‘Never Say Never’ On Wii U, Vita Support

IGN: ''Bethesda has released plenty of PC and console games and is already planning to support Xbox One and PlayStation 4. While the publisher has a wide range of multiplatform titles and has even experimented with mobile, it has yet to publish a game on Wii U, Vita or 3DS. In an interview with IGN at E3, Bethesda VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines explained his philosophy regarding expanding to additional systems.''

PopRocks3593954d ago

Hope so. You guys are a pretty big developer, and those two systems are in need of some bigger, better support.

SynGamer3954d ago

Still hoping for Vita support, couldn't care less about the Wii U.

PSNintyGamer3954d ago

Opposite for me hoping for Wii U support. Couldn't care less about vita

chadboban3954d ago

@SynGamer
@PSNintyGamer

Maybe you both could grow the hell up and realize you're not the only gamers in the world.

Support for both of those systems would be nice.

PigPen3954d ago

Hoping for Vita support, ha ha ha ha.

SynGamer3954d ago

@chadboban - Grow up? I'm an adult who likes my PS Vita and has no interest in the Wii U.

Why U SO Mad?

PopRocks3593954d ago

He's saying it would be a nice gesture if you said "It would be great if Wii U owners could have Bethesda's support as well as us Vita owners." Basically you're only thinking for yourself as oppose to the benefit of everyone.

I don't own a Vita right now, but I do want it to have some support for those who already own one.

SynGamer3954d ago

I don't agree with what Nintendo has done with the Wii U, so not, I don't really want games going to it just for the sake of going to it. I'd rather see games on the PS Vita and 3DS, personally.

TURKEYonWH3AT3954d ago

Who the hell plays the Vita? It's a PSP with a touch screen added

SnotyTheRocket3954d ago

What exactly has Nintendo "Done" with the Wii U? I think it's a pretty cool system, just needs more support. The only reason it doesn't get it is because gamers like you won't give it a go.

PrimeGrime3954d ago (Edited 3954d ago )

@ TURKEYonWH3AT [WiiU owner/lover AC MILAN FAN Realist ]

"Who the hell plays the Vita? It's a PSP with a touch screen added"

Hmm maybe the 5 million plus people that have bought one. The Vita is nothing like the PSP lol. Differences is the PSP never had a second analog, another huge difference is power. The PSP wasn't even close in terms of hardware in anyway either, it has cameras which the PSP never had in it as well one of which can be used for video chatting.

If you don't own or actually know anything about it then shut the hell up will you? That is like saying the Wii U is nothing but a Wii with a touchscreen, your comment is just as stupid.

MegaLagann3954d ago

@SynGamer
@PSNintyGamer

I'm hoping for N Gage support. Couldn't care less about 32X.

MadLad3954d ago

I want both because, you know, gamer.

ziratul3953d ago

Who cares about Vita? Only radical sony fanboys own that system.

Xof3953d ago

I'd love to see see Skyrim on Vita. New games are always good, but in terms of what Bethesda's already got out, I'm not sure I'd care about any WiiU ports as my (brand-spanking new) WiiU is connected to the same display as my PS3.

And I have a feeling most, if not all (core) gamers are in a similar situation.

NovusTerminus3954d ago

How about that PSP TES game? Dig it up and turn it Vita bound.

And the Wii U can run Skyrim, port it over with some new stuff in it!

Qrphe3954d ago

It was an Oblivion spinoff, and that Oblivion Wii build also got scrapped.

SactoGamer3954d ago

I'd love to see something Bethesda on Wii U. I can see something like TES or Fallout working well on the platform by using the gamepad's touchscreen for inventory management and keeping track of quests.

Kevlar0093954d ago (Edited 3954d ago )

I'll be sad if the WiiU doesn't get Fallout4. I could see someone making a PipBoy skin for their gamepad. The highest difficulty could not pause when you use your pipboy, forcing you to move and switch at the same time ala ZombiU

Bethesda most likely looks for two things when they decide to develop for a system: A)Will we make a profit off that system alone. B)Can we do all the things we want without cutting corners, can we deliver the "Bethesda" experience. So much of the WiiU's future depends on the next 10 months, hopefully its FirstParty can pull through

Gamesgbkiller3954d ago (Edited 3954d ago )

Come on Bethesda.!

Do the games & we will handle your money.

Im glad he leaving. Bethesda has been terrible under his leadership. Redfall, Starfield, Fallout76 and the list goes on an on. His leadership style is outdated. Hopefully, MS bring someone in that knows what they are doing.

RhinoGamer88186d ago

I will give you Fallout 76, but Redfall and Starfield's blame needs to fall somewhat on the terrible Xbox publishing team. With all their resources and supposed smarts...they fungled it.

VenomUK186d ago

@Mika He’s the communications guy - you can’t blame him for the quality of the product.

jznrpg186d ago

Maybe they can go to their earlier purchases for replacements . Like Rare devs , Gear devs or 343, one of the very few studios they built up and man they are great.

Crows90186d ago

That could work ...if MS knew what they were doing themselves ...

But let's be real. Xbox was in charge of redfall and Starfield. They just don't know what a good game looks like.

RhinoGamer88186d ago

I interviewed at Bethesda once, and while there were some very smart mid level team members, the upper ranks (EP/VP/Studio Head) were a total boys' club. The Madmen series ego in that lunch was stiffling.

generic-user-name186d ago

Pete Hines was against locking out the majority of their console playerbase (ps gamers). Probably disgusted at the hypocrisy of white knight Phil assuring PS gamers that they can still play COD. Acquisition goes through, Hines goes out.

Goodbye Pete.

gold_drake186d ago

i wonder if he was asked to leave.

im pretty sure not everyone was on board with the acquisition.

Profchaos185d ago

Pretty much everyone outside of Todd has made snide comments against the acquisition but money talks

Pete Hines on Starfield: 'We could make a safer, less buggy, less risky game if we wanted to'

The number one game development doctrine: It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

jznrpg229d ago

What risks were taken? Space travel? Entire planets ? Vehicles for planets? Smart AI? Don’t see any risks taken

bababooiy229d ago

Exactly, this game has 0 innovation. Everything has already been done before here, by Bethesda themselfs no less. Years back when Todd was showing off Skyrim going "see that mountain. you can go there" actually sounded impressive becouse you knew it ment you could literally walk straight up that mountain, no loading screens nothing! Now we have gone backwards.

Seraphim229d ago

Just more Hines blowing smoke up the ass of people.

notachance228d ago

He fits right in with MS with their overhyped catchphrase. Phil, Pete, and Todd Howard should host a talkshow because they’re clearly the experts on having interviews.

idk if it’s the difference between japan and west culture but Nintendo and Sony employees are practically radio silent compared to them..

jwillj2k4229d ago (Edited 229d ago )

The only risks taken were in the exploration lies told when advertising. This is basically Bethesda’s take on Mass Effect 1.

yeahokwhatever228d ago

thats exactly what this game is. a fallout 4 mass effect mod.

Redgrave229d ago

"If we wanted to"

So.... you.... haven't wanted to prior to now?

Kaze88228d ago

Exactly :D if this comment from Hines should have been an W, it totally wasn't. Telling your customers that you did not care enough before does not make you any better now. Only when your boss aka MS ass was on the line you cared. What an idiot.

Bethesda's Pete Hines Says Redfall Will Be a Good Game Eventually, Compares It to Fallout 76

Bethesda Softworks publishing head Pete Hines has reassured players that Arkane isn't giving up on Redfall, despite its lukewarm reception on launch earlier this year. In fact, he's confident it will be a good game people want to play on Game Pass ten years from now.

Sciurus_vulgaris230d ago

Redfall will likely not have the same level of long-term of support as Fallout 76. I doubt Redfall is popular enough to warrant several years of support and updates.

DarXyde229d ago

Yeah, I think Microsoft is done with that experiment. Honestly, I would be quite surprised if the 60fps patch comes at all anymore. It's such an afterthought at this point.

thesoftware730229d ago

Why would you be surprised?

"Okay, we didn't get the start we wanted, but it's still a fun game… and we're going to keep working on it. We're going to do 60fps. We're going to get it to be a good game because we know, as a first-party studio, Game Pass lives forever."

This is directly from the article...he is telling you it's coming.

DarXyde228d ago

thesoftware370,

Isn't it obvious?

I don't believe anything they're saying. When I see it... If I see it... Then it happens.

S2Killinit229d ago

This is MS they just say things. They dont have to be based on reality.

Snookies12230d ago (Edited 230d ago )

It should have been a good game coming out the gate... I get that not all games are going to be winners. But, at the very least, make sure it's decent before releasing. Especially with a huge company like Bethesda backing it. Not to mention Arkane had a great reputation before this. It's one thing for an indie title not meeting expectations. It's another entirely when you're supposed to be backed by a huge player in the industry.

cleft5228d ago

Starfield released without an FOV slider... I don't think listening to anyone from Bethesda is a good idea.

Jin_Sakai230d ago

It’s already dead Jim. Just like Halo Infinite.

People have moved on to better games.

coolbeans230d ago

-"Just like Halo Infinite."

To say this with such confidence suggests you don't get called out enough on bad takes.

jjb1981229d ago

Halo Infinite is dead though.

Abear21229d ago

More people play Risk on Steam than Halo

ChasterMies229d ago

Halo Infinite is so forgettable that N4G has been flooded with articles saying Starfield is the first big Xbox exclusive this generation, the savior of Xbox, and the kickoff to Xbox’s exclusives. Hype meets reality.

coolbeans229d ago (Edited 229d ago )

-"Halo Infinite is dead though."

These responses have to either be delusional or deliberately disregarding the context to which I'm responding. Just to be clear, you understand Jin literally parallels Spedfall (that's still waiting on an 60fps patch) to a game who's just had a recent seasonal update and another (Season 5) scheduled for Oct, right? You can't even pretend like that's on "life support" compared to what Pete Hine's saying here with Redfall.

-"More people play Risk on Steam than Halo"

Even if that were true, which it's not ( https://steamdb.info/app/11... ), you're forgetting an entire online platform to make your argument, Poindexter. Do better.

-"Halo Infinite is so forgettable that N4G has been flooded with articles saying Starfield is the first big Xbox exclusive this generation, the savior of Xbox, and the kickoff to Xbox’s exclusives."

Just so I'm clear about this: 'gamez jurnalizm' (or at least a big collection of that field), the same group who've constantly been personified as unethical hype-mongers for big companies, hyping up another game as THE NEXT BIG THING is going to be your proof of this? How convenient.

Also, part of what you stated doesn't even diminish Infinite's status: "first big Xbox exclusive [of/for] this generation" works in Starfield's scenario since Infinite is a Xbox One, Series, & PC game. That language could just as easily be emphasizing a 9th-gen game from a cross-gen game.

Profchaos228d ago

Only the hardest of the hardcore still believe

BlackTar187228d ago

Cool beans that is some legendary orange glow level of cope. Well done

coolbeans228d ago

-"Only the hardest of the hardcore still believe"

Although I still think you're diminishing its reach, at least you're added fairer context.

-"Cool beans that is some legendary orange glow level of cope. Well done"

And that is one of the most vapid responses I could've expected. Congrats.

Bad move. Fallout 76 is still awful and not at all beloved by the Fallout community.

thesoftware730229d ago

But Fallout 76 has about 14 million players ..

Somebody is playing it, you can't possibly think that is bad.

TheColbertinator229d ago

Millions of people also bought the PS5 even though the system sucks. Quantity is not always quality

XiNatsuDragnel230d ago

It's over Jim because f76 and red fall are cursed to be bad let's be honest.
