Wait, what? COD dogs is #1 in pre-orders for Xbox One, and that means they are winning the software war?
If you check the weekly most pre-ordered games, it's Watch Dogs for the PS4 at #10, COD for the Xbox is #20, Battlefield is #22 for Xbox and #24 for PS4, #26 is COD for PS4, Forza is #29.

This also doesn't seem to include the fact that every PS4 bundle that is being sold has a game with it. The watchdog bundle is at no4. the Battlefield bundle is at no.6 and the Killzone bundle is at no.9

Forza motorsports is at 17 and COD ghost for x1 is at no.20.

So please correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that PS4 is leading in software.

I dont know why people are acting like the currently revealed games are the first and last games that will be coming to the PS4 and Xbone. Like these handful of titles will decide which console will sell most by the end of the 8th generation. There will be numerous games coming in the later years and Sony has yet to reveal games from their AAA studios like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica. If we look at the historical trend, we can safely say that PS4 will have more and higher quality exclusives. Xbone supporters should not claim software victory based on just the first 5 revealed games. Even the launch line-up has not been finalized yet for either consoles.

The two best games MS showed at E3, in my opinion, were a multi plat (MGS5) and a game that will most likely end up on PS4 eventually but is already a multi plat on PC and 360 (Titanfall).

Forza's a great game for racing fans, but that's not one of my favorite genres.

Bottom line is that who has the "better" games is a subjective topic.

I'm going to call it right here: when it comes to cross-gen multiplats like CoD and Battlefield 4, they'll sell far better on PS3/360. They're not going to make a huge difference in convincing people to go X1/PS4.

However, brand-new IPs like Watch_Dogs, Destiny, and Titanfall (even though they are still technically cross-gen multiplats) have a much better chance of getting people to upgrade.

I could say the same about sony, i mean non of those ps4 exclusive interest me in fact im more interested in ps3 exclusive rather than ps4, example Beyond Souls, GT6 and in recent days even TLO, The Order looks meh to me and that includes KZ too and after seen gameplay of DriveClub that game is out of my interest so the only thing thats appealing to me is Infamous, but all this is an opinion like yours.

if I question at me, yes, but for the wrong reasons. not bad reasons, if not a bit bad for my preference. this because microsoft only let you see games with thousands of followers behind the franchise. halo, (that would be your metal zelda or god of war) Crimson Dragon (which would be the sequel to panzer dragoon: the best game of sega saturn). and killer instinct (which would be the equivalent of Nintendo announced "earthbound 2" or sony announced "Crash Bandicoot").

sony took risks supporting indies and new and varied projects (like Knack, The Witness, The Order: 1886, Outlast, Hohokum, Transistor, etc.)
Nintendo also competes hard with their games ... Well, at the end of 2013 (super mario 3d world, mario kart 8 TLOZ WW HD, bayonetta 2 SSB, donkey kong tropycal freeze, pikmin, TLOZ: BW, pokemon x & y, sonic lost world, wonderfull 101, yoshi and X. )

Amazon US has a Watch Dogs+PS4 bundle for $460, at #4. I don't see COD or a Xbone+COD bundle anywhere in the top 10. Amazon UK has Watch Dogs for PS4 at #11, while Xbone has BF4 at #20. So, you're telling me because Xbone has COD (which even the PS4 has), they win the software war despite not being on the top 20 best seller's list?

I hope I'm not the only one who noticed that - when it came to exclusives - Microsoft mostly showed off GCI trailers and gave vague "TBA 2014" release dates.

Let's not move the goalpost yet again, kids. Sony software is also ranking higher in the preorder charts compared to Xbox One games.

And there's still the looming question of whether this is "it" for Microsoft's support. Most of their games are TBA 2014. Not a lot of support for the first several months. And will Microsoft be able to churn out several high-quality games a year 3 years from now, especially when their ultimate focus is the TvTvSports crowd (not the gamers)?

Sony showed live gameplay of pretty much all their announced games (and we still have Gamescom). Several of Microsoft's biggest games like Halo, Sunset Overdrive, and Quantum Break were either CGI or at best, they weren't in-game demonstrations.

That's fine if you are interested in several X1 games. But let's not pretend that Microsoft was transparent at E3. Most of those were trailers, not live gameplay demonstrations, and the fact that a lot of those games were running on PCs with Nvidia graphics cards should be a big red flag.

But I'm also a huge indie games fan and an aspiring dev so I'm going for PS4. The way I see things, so many franchises are going multiplat now that PS4 and XOne are basically the same console except for these things :

PS4 : Indie support, developper-friendly architecture, more likely to get japanese games

Remember, Microsoft is investing $1 billion for the Xbox One games. That means, they will SECURE more exclusive games than the PlayStation 4.

If only Sony will buy exclusives... But they don't believe in that aspect. Thats why we saw them lost a lot... Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Metal Gear Solid V, Resident Evil games and more. Sony LOST a lot of exclusive franchises following PS2 which is sad, since that made them lead the market.

I know right, it's ridiculous how fast people forget things.

They have more 1st party development studios than any other publisher. Sony has released exclusive games for their platforms almost* every year since 1994 (*I'm saying almost because I haven't checked, but I would put money on them having at least 1 1st party game every single year in the last 19 years).

They have 3 generations of amazing consoles and exclusive games to prove that they are committed to the hardcore gamer. There is no doubt in my mind that we will have exclusive stuff to play every single year in the PS4s life cycle.

God of War 2, one of my favourite games for the PS2, came out after the PS3, in 2007. Look at 2013 alone, off the top of my head: God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, Gran Turismo 6, Ni No Kuni. And I'm pretty sure I forgot a few.

Anyone who has doubts about Sony delivering the games for the PS4, is either very young or just plain stupid. Sony delivered for 3 console generations, and they made it clear at E3 they aren't stopping any time soon.

Oh and while I'm at it, they also have a trackrecord of announcing new games at GamesCom and TGS, so before anyone passes judgement on the current launch lineup, there will most likely be more stuff announced there. While I am very confident in saying Microsoft blew all they had on E3, history is on my side.

It's not only about M$ investing, it's also about sales. Doing an HD game is expensive, and you need to get all the audience you can. That's why third parties are not so reluctant to make multiplat games. A FF game may even lose money if it were to appear as an exclusive, for example.

That's why Japan for example moved to multiplat even when people there don't buy M$. Their market is too small for HD games.

Not really. MS can do timed-exclusive games again like what they did in Xbox 360. did that work? certainly. Why would someone wait one year later to play a game when they can get it first?

this next-generation consoles DOES NOT HAVE a big jump in terms of HD visuals. It's just smoother frame rate and improved lighting shadows. Jumping from PS2 to PS3 is a big change but PS3 to PS4 is like 10-20% improvement which is minimal.

Does that increase their development cost? nope not really.

Money talks. If Microsoft gives one company millions of dollars to keep on the Xbox One, they will do it. It's money.

Like I said I thought Sony's PS4 line up was super epic and must buys. Guess not because in every X1 articles I see lots of fanboys. More so in Titanfall news every time Respawn mentions the X1's cloud computing. That really gets fanboys storming in those articles.

No, it's likely that they will SECURE more exclusive timed DLC. Last gen's biggest "exclusive" purchase was the $50 million Microsoft spent to get the GTA4 DLC first...and that came to PS3 a year later.

Microsoft will have a solid lineup of exclusives for the first 2 1/2 to 3 years...after that, they're going full-steam-ahead for the TvTvSports crowd.

I gotta admit, the price change and the option I have now to either opt for the kinect or not is good. I heard MS say we are not ready for our digital future. We definitely aren't. Not by a longshot. But I want to see what the new Halo and Quantum Break is about. Those two games had my attention anyway while the policies and such were in place. The solution to XBOX ONE problems lies with XBOX LIVE. Microsoft forgot what built the XBOX brand, XBOX LIVE. Why not offer the gamers a choice to choose, rather than forcing the issue. Allowing gamers a choice could usher in a new era of gaming. Digital is the future but forcing it is not the answer. Steam and iTunes are models that XBOX ONE is attempting emulate within the gaming sector. Upper hand? Just because Microsoft showed all of their cards prematurely doesn't mean they have the upper hand.. How many of those games showed at E3 are actually releasing this holiday? Every single game Sony showed is releasing at launch or in the launch window.. Most of Microsoft's games were just videos, not actual in game footage.

We still don't know what Sucker Punch, Santa Monica, Japan, or Naughty Dog is developing for the PS4 yet.. Sony is just playing things close to their chest and seeing as how bad MS botched the reveal I'd say they have the luxury of time..

I think it's all down to the gamers preference. Some people might prefer the games that were presented at Sony's Press Conference.

Others might prefer the games presented the MS's Press Conference.

And the rest that were presented by Nintendo's Direct Stream.

They all showed off some great games, but to me, X1 is where all the games are at, for me. Again, that's my opinion and I'm not going to judge people for their preferences.

360 killed Ps3 on game purchases last generation. Xbox gamers own way more games on average than ps3 owners. That's how MS won the last gen, not by selling more blu ray players... mean game consoles, but by selling way more games, killing ps plus with Xbox live, killin ps eye with kinect.

As of right now I think Xbox one has some really good exclusives but I think Microsoft showed 90% of what they have to offer at E3. Sony on the other hand still have some of their biggest teams like Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Media Molecule and Quantic Dream to announce their PS4 projects.

Also if we look at what happened this gen, MS started strong with a good line up of hardcore, exclusive games, but then once they had enough core gamers they focused on the casuals and relied on the same franchises (Halo, Gears, Forza) to keep core gamers occupied. Meanwhile Sony are still releasing new IP's for PS3 in the same year that the PS4 is coming out.

The tide is definitely still in Microsoft's favor. They're software will make use of the hardware unlike Sony which has struggled to actually use hardware correctly. Also, most cross gen titles are being developed and optimized for the XBOX ONE. Sound familiar? If not, then research what happened with the current generation.

The current generation is not the next generation, however. The PS4 is easier to develop for than PS3. The coming console gen isn't going to be a repeat of the PS3/360 situation. For one thing, Sony is in a much more advantageous position this time around, with hardware that is cheaper and easy to develop for.
