Sony Calls November 13th PS4 Release Date "Speculation"

While Microsoft was more than happy to confirm at E3 2013 that the Xbox One would be releasing in November, Sony stuck with what they’d always said and just gave the PS4 a ‘holiday‘ launch in the US and Europe during their conference. - PSLS

Anyway, I live in the UK and as long as our release date isn't too long after the Americans I'll be happy (wait, I'm already happy; Damn you Sony!).

PS3 was released March 07 here (Europe) and November 06 in the States. Wouldn't be surprised if Novemeber 2013 the PS4 arrives at my door in which the delivery man will be greeted by myself, I might give him a present because I'll be that happy.

My bet is October 17th. Sony would be brilliant to do this. They would get their first batch out to all the hardcore and be able to restock for Black Friday. If you launch too close to Black Friday then their out of consoles and aren't making any money because their shelves are3 empty. They'd be able to keep a steady amount coming in until Christmas and really be able to get a big jump over XBONE. Hell, they could even drop the price 10 dollars on Black Friday if hey launched in October and make an even bigger splash. M$would be dead in the water.

If the 13th is accurate, NA will get it sooner, that is always the way. Licencing issues always hold up stuff in EU. But if Sony can get it out in Europe by mid-November, that means late October for NA, which would be killer. It would also allow them to get another shipment out for Black Friday after the initial allotment is gobbled up.

I guessed 11/12/2013 a while back. That's what it should be so their add campaign can do a recount up to four by fading away the excess 1's with a bright blue 4 to the right that appears fist with the "PS" letters fade in slowly as the 123 fades out. Then fade in the console on the left. Then have the PSVita appear in the right for the subconscious mind to read it as PS4Vita. A.K.A PS4Life (Vita is better defined as saying "life.")

Then it would be an instant cult classic advertisement that gamers would totally appreciate seeing. :P

The PR for PS4 is massive....I mean talk about building hype...they didnt show the PS4 until MS showed XBOX1...they didnt share the price until the XBOX1....now they are building anticipation for the actual release date. Their PR gets an A+.

I really think it'll be at the very end of October. I'm expecting the X1 to release between November 1-5 just because Call of Duty is releasing on the 5th. I assume that Microsoft wants to have released the console by then. With the way Sony has been doing everything, I think they will release it slightly earlier. Sony keeps trying to 1 up everything that MSFT does. Only time will tell though.

Sony needs to RIDE HIGH for the next few months. Insure the positive press is constantly flowing, nothing but positivity. Then release the PS4 either right before Xbox One is released, or in the same 2 week window.

They shouldn't allow microsoft to release their console first, they need to go first just to cap off the successful lead up to launch.

Looking at the history of Sony, the PS1 launch in September 1995 in NA, the PS2 in October 2000, and the PS3 November 2006.

This generation I think it's going to be released on October 30th.

Think about it. You get the games that will launch before the actual say like idk 10 games for a pre launch special bundle (it was called a first edition bundle for vita). and a week or two later , you release the launch edition where everygthing is availible

Best thing they could do as far as a NA release is to launch on October 29th alongside Assassin's Creed IV. It's a AAA 3rd party title that we all know will sell systems. And that will give a 2 week buffer to Watch Dogs. The only thing that realistically complicates the Launch date is being able to guarantee that (x) amount of games will also be available on day 1 as well which is the main reason they haven't announced. Along with the fact that they want to punch Microsoft in the mouth one more time before launch.

A little more research on previous release dates says that if in fact the European release date is between the 13th and the 21st then the North American release would be a two weeks to a month prior to that date. So possibly October 13th or November 4th.

I'm going to guess that the PS4 will release in October for the following reasons:

1) It will rack in a full month of sales before the XBox One.

2) Stores will be able to sell a ton of systems with the combined Release Day Rush and Black Friday sales.

3) Launch Day Titles (For me, Watch Dogs): Think about it. In all the on-stage previews of the game, the devs have said that Watch Dogs will be released in November for current-gen consoles, and it would be released for next-gen systems "as soon as they launch." Ubisoft is already giving the PS4 (and PS3) version of the game special treatment with 60 minutes of extra play. What's stopping them from adding the extra incentive to go next-gen by releasing the PS4 version a full month before it's available for any other system?
