Wii U Pro Controller Review | Binary Messiah

Thatgamereviews:
"Most of the time when you hear the word 'rip-off' you associate it with something negative, but in the case of the Wii U Pro Controller this is not true. Sure, it may borrow heavily from the Xbox 360 controller but that is certainly not a bad thing. It’s obviously made for more-hardcore gamers and works well with games such as Injustice and Black Ops 2. For Black Ops 2 it’s actually my preferred method of playing."

xbox 360 controller copied from Nintendo, look at all nintendo's previous controllers. Apart from that, good review.

The 360 controller seemingly borrows from Nintendo and Sega. Dreamcast had shoulder triggers before the original Xbox. If anything, Nintendo took their own gamepad design and modernized it.

Nintendo took there design bk.

I like this controller better than the 360 one, as the joysticks are where they should be, both on top near your thumbs! The battery life is amazing at 80 hours. The only flaw is no headphone jack....hopefully they make an update to this controller in the future and add that in.

I really like the controller to but I wish it was triggers rather than buttons on the bottom left and right of the back as for racing games they are better. I still find the 360 controller better for my hands but I do like the Pro on my WiiU. Im also looking forward to trying the one and DS4 controllers as I have not liked a single DS controller as they have been to small but this one looks bigger and the One controller looks to improve over the 360 controller again.

Do these companies, MS, Sony, Nintendo have trademarks of the positioning of the twin sticks or something?

xbox pad = left thumb stick top, right thumb stick bottom
DS4 = left thumb stick bottom, right thumb stick bottom
Wii U Pro = left thumb stick top, right thumb stick top

Kind of weird that none of them have a similar layout on the sticks.

I don't think it's trademarked, i've seen third party controllers with all of the above so i don't think it would be. Nintendo and xbox had the same configuration during the sixth gen. I guess nintendo figured if one stick is comfortable that way why not put both that way.

I was honestly surprised and thought it would be weird having the analog sticks at the top; but so far I have fallen in love with the controller! More so than my classic controller pro.

Wii U games that still haven't been ported to Switch

The Nintendo Switch is potentially nearing its lifespan, and several Wii U games haven't found their way over as ports yet.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga3d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas3d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
