There's no way on earth, heaven, or hell that Amazon could have recieved a vote from every single person who bought a PS3 or 360. That's why they set up a table comprised of completely random people to come to random percentage. That percentage is nothing more than an average that says for the average game who shops through Amazon, they will be more likely to buy the PS4 over XBone, as only gamers were following this poll. Does it state for a facet that PS4 will outsell XBone 19 to 1? Of course not. It just gives us general idea of how many people in that demographic prefer PS4 to XBone. It's a random statistic. Nothing more. Nothing less.

The Xbox One deserves the bad reputation that it has not only with gamers but with the "casual" consumers also.

The Xbox One implements user restrictions that are far worse than anything that has came before it with hardline DRM and 24HR CHECK IN.

The Xbox One will not be Microsofts Dreamcast because that great home console is highly regarded by hardcore gamers.

I was at Gamestop today and I asked them how they feel about the Xbox One and the trade in restrictions. He said that he pre ordered an xbox one and was at E3. He also stated that Microsoft is ALLOWING people to trade in their xbox one games. Once someone installs the game to their console it uninstalls it from your console. He said he actually talked with MS rep at E3 and they have notified Gamestop that they will indeed allow trade ins. That is part of the reason you need to be always online. Also, the family share is another reason you need to have always online. This way 10 people can share their library of games with eachother. Which exciting to say the least. They gamer who installed the game, can play his games anytime he wants. The other 9 people he is sharing the game with can play any game in the library at any given time with no time limit restrictions. Only two (the owner of the game) and one friend can play a single player game at the same time. This is the future of game sharing. No longer do you need to hand your physical copy over to a friend and wait for him to give it back and hope he doesn't damage it in the process. Those days are gone. The stone age is over. While some will be left behind...The gamers with absolutely no internet or the gamers who enjoy the old fashion way of doing things...But for us gamers who are ready for the future and all it offers...It's an exciting time.

Also, I believe if we take this poll 1 month before the consoles launch...The results would be a lot different. There is a lot of confusion and misinformation out about the xbox one an it's mostly Microsoft's fault. But, I'm confident that gamers will know a lot more as the months pass.

Random GS employees attended E3? How fortunate for them. I have an nice anecdotal story as well. 2 in fact. Went to one GameStop Wendsday and the guy working there said the stuff on X1 didn't bother him, he preordered it, and they were out of preorders. Went to another on Friday, guy said they sold out of X1 preorders because they weren't given many, but he isn't getting many people asking about them. Moral of the story, anecdotal stories from a random GS employee are rather pointless to enforce a point, because they are just opinions or made up BS, for the most part at least.

Also I find it rather odd that MS would give a random employee of GS information that they haven't given to the press. It's not like GS got press badges, so if this guy did happen to attend E3(which I will say he did because I can't prove otherwise) it seems he either misunderstood, or is full of sh*t.

MS would make that policy known to the press...you know...the people who have the ability to get it out to people other than the ones that happen to wonder into the store. It seems like this would alleviate a lot of the pressure they're under right now. Not ideal as there are other issues surrounding used games, but at least it's a start for them to actually clarify the issues.

One last anecdotal story for you. While I was in GS Friday, both the manager, and her area supervisor(whatever title they use for it), said they have no clue what MS current trade in policy is, or how it will affect the stores.

Otherwise, MS 10 friends/family shared game thing sound dubious at best. It seems like that would be counter-productive to limiting used game sales, as you'd have more people doing just that. I'm not going to sing MS praises until I know more about that. Given what they've done so far, I doubt it's going to be as awesome as you're making it sound.

Otherwise, this poll is about in line with other similar polls floating around. It shows current interest in the system. A lot can happen between now and launch. What will happen 1 month before launch is unknown, and you're guess is as good as mine.

They didn't. All of this was confirmed in multiple places. The only problem is everyone is passed caring. They're all straight out for Microsoft's throat.

Microsoft has confirmed multiple times that trade ins will be allowed at "participating retailers" (Gamestop, GAME, CEX, pretty much any game chain store) and that games published by Microsoft will not have an extra fee put on top of them if you buy them used. Trade a game in, its removed from your account. Buy a used game, its added to your account. Done. Publishers can charge extra for used, same as they can on the PS4. Its likely that none of them will.

As I say, all freely available information that has been floating around for about a week or more, but people have their ears closed. Probably fair enough.

The sharing games to 10 people thing is amazing. My friend buys GRID 2 and shares it to me so we can play each other online? That's just added value every time he buys a game, and he gets added value every time I buy one. But HEY...the console costs $100 more, so screw Microsoft? If my friend buys 2 games that I don't have and that I might like to play but don't want to shell $60 each on, that's $120 saved. Yeah, the Xbox One truly sucks alright.

I don't like the 24-hour check-in thing, but the rest is just fine with me.

Fair enough. I had to reread his post, but yeah, in the sense that MS is being so kind to allow us to use an approved trade in center, he is right. Generally when I see trade in I still hold on to the fact that that means there isn't any restriction on what we can do with the game, so I could trade it to a friend, then he could pass it on, etc. But I will concede, in the context Elite was speaking of, he's not wrong.

I'm very skeptical about the sharing thing. I think if it works as most people that are promoting it hopes it works, then it will be an amazing feature, and worthy of praise.

However, given how restrictive the console is in general, and the fact that MS has really not detailed it, even though being asked about it multiple times, makes me believe it's not going to be the feature that everyone is hoping it to be.

I also imagine this feature being up to the publisher. The feature itself seems counter-productive to restricting used games, as you've basically just had 10 people buy one game. Sony has had game sharing for quite a while. It was abused. Sony reduced the number of people that could use it from 5 to 2. So again, this shows me that publishers aren't going to be too keen on this feature. You even illustrate my point with your description of how it's an added value to the consumer.

I hope I'm wrong though, as I do agree it has the potential to be the best feature of the X1.

I have no problem with the price of the console. I would have spent that much easily if it offered what I want without the restrictions. Not even sure why you tried to make it seem like that was my argument. I haven't criticized the price once in any comment I've made regarding the X1.

All of that DRM stuff aside the thing that I really take exception to is the online check in nonsense.. I personally believe that this policy is an effort to force people to buy live so they can have 100% Live subscription. Its all about profit.. Now on to this "Game Sharing" feature.. Microsoft clearly stated 10 FAMILY members.. Not friends or neighbors etc.. Secondly you cant buy a game, gift it to a friend and you both play it.. Once you give it to a friend you cant play it anymore.. @KMxRetro Your missing a major "DETAIL" on sharing games. Whenever you install a game it has to check online immediately to see if it that particular disc is active on another machine. If it is then only the latest one can play it, so if that person you want to play against will be stopped. Microsoft clearly, (vp Phil Harrison) said only one can be active at a time.

But if you want to share a xbox360 game 10 times you can. In fact you can share it a infinite amount of times. Just like PS3 and PS4 and Atari, and Genesis, and n64, and sega Saturn, and dreamcast, and 3do, and Snes, and well my finger is getting tired so it is easier to just say NOT xbone.

And when the servers for ps3, and xbox360 go offline permantly your ps3, and 360 will still play games. When the servers for dreamcast, and PS2, and xbox(original) went offline you are still able to play your games offline. NOT so with xboxone, every game becomes unplayable, forever!

Had the selection been diverse the polls result would've been 99.5% correct. This one isn't though but what we can take away is that the hardcore gamer is utterly disappointed with the X1.

How did you think they did let's say a poll before an election? Would they call every single resident of what ever country and ask of their opinion? 2000 people is more than enough to accurately represent a whole nations sentiments.

Yes but when it comes to consoles and fanbois, there's usually something competitive about it, rather than outright humiliation.

The pulling of this poll will only lead to more comment on it and the chance the big sites will draw even more attention to it rather than letting it run its course, as there's something quite a bit more juicy about the reasons why than merely confirming what we already know (ie ps4 is by far the machine of choice for early adopters).

Sometimes it's just better to suck it up rather than putting your other foot in it, and if ms pressure had anything to do with the poll ending early, well... let's see how much comment is made around the big gaming sites.

If anything the poll was Sony's from the beginning just from the retailer alone. The Xbox One needs an internet connection, people living in the middle of nowhere would easily jump ship, and order one due to the lack of stores, and decent internet connection to run the device once every 24 hours (my cousin lives on a farm with decent internet, but his data cap is horrid, an X1 simply wouldn't work). If the poll was in GameStop it might be a bit different due to it being in internet heavy areas, regardless, Sony is doing well. I'll be happy to pick up both this winter.

A console that's in the top 5 of every preorder chart of every major retailer only pulls in 5% of the vote? Even thought the PS4 is at the top of those charts, it doesn't seem right or logical.

but you have no idea how much MORE the PS4 has pre-sold. It can only reach #1 but could be (in theory) millions of units ahead. While Xbone at #4 etc is quantifiable as 'hasn't sold as many as the Last of us or Animal crossing' (UK chart).

On a serious note, the numbers show how "Out of Touch" the entire M$ft research, marketing, PR and admin teams are. (Not just XB but entire M$).

After witnessing these numbers, they must have some b@lls to further defend their "choices" and "vision" of future.

The only way M$ can save XB franchise is if they cancel whole Xbone $hit and go back to drawing boards with new team; since the current one has a vision of future set in a different dimension where their $hitbox is a government surveillance (refer to current news about these things), TV, cable box which mandates you to take "permission" from His Majesty Steve B@llmer before you even move a muscle.

The fact is that the great engineering / marketing team that designed the Xbox360 is gone now.

There have been many reports for the last few years that all of Microsofts Xbox division is lead by a bunch of out of touch suits from hollywood and tech nerds that have almost no interest in gaming at all.

Now look at the Xbox One and it all rings true.

This is kind of sad this generation. I was really looking forward to see the fanboy fights and meltdowns. It was heating up right before the Xbone reveal and then MS convinced and converted most of their install base to go with Playstation after the reveal and E3. It's too early to tell but it looks like the PS2 vs Xbox vs GameCube generation all over again.

I think that the general consensus has already been established. PS4 probably won't actually sell this well over XBone, but from what anyone without a Windows logo shoved uo their ass, it's obvious that PS4 has pretty already won. Especially seeing how M$ has been standing completely firm and flat out said that they will change about their console because of PS4. So basically, the hardcore Halo and Forza fans will buy, but just like how hardcore Mario fans still bought the Wii-U, the console will most likely sell pretty poorly.

Even if M$ completely changed the console at to have better hardware, no DRM, no online requirement, and none of the other BS features bout the system (it's a pretty looong f*ckin list, their image to the public, who followed the first wave of info, has already been set in stone. They'll have to work really, and I'm years of work, to ever get that back. Sorry for you core M$ fans that are still buying into this BS, but the console will NOT beat the PS4 next gen. Either M$ has to become Jesus, or Sony has to become Satan. Beyond that, it's done. PS2 vs Xbox all over again.

Exactly, they should still change their crap, but the die has been cast, people already know how much of a POS it is and that's what they're going to be telling others, well for this whole generation.

I thought they were screwed just by not talking down the rumors prior to the reveal. The talk from the couple of months before that had already shown that people were pissed at Xbone and if M$ wasn't going to implement these things, they were going to have a major problem because just about everyone who pays attention already thought that.

Now that they've had their reveal, their e3, etc, all of that is set in stone.

If maybe they could have reversed course before the reveal and been able to curtail the damage in a year or so, now it's basically an entire generation that they've alienated.

Which also doesn't bode well for the next, next generation. But they'll have their shot.

If I was MS I would stop all production, pay off any publisher/developer agreements and cancel it all.

Then start a proper development for release in 2-3 years when prices of tech drop more and release an even faster dedicated gaming box with 500GB SSD.

This way they will have the better system rather than trying to match Sony at the moment. They are the only company who could absorb such a loss and then recover. It could actually work!

Don't think they need to stop all production. Everything they've implemented is in software. Changing it would probably delay the system, unless they promise to change it ASAP.

The negative images would remain though, and that's going to be an uphill battle.

Honestly though, it's apparent that MS has other plans for the X1 that don't fall squarely in the gaming market. Games are more a "bonus" offering to the entertainment portion of the console.

Exactly, that's what I've been thinking. True they could release the game a few weeks early because they might want all their versions released on the same day...but I also think it shows us what might be possible.

I feel that this, so far, is the earliest potential PS4 launch day.

I think the xbone (and this is a guess) will ship later than the PS4, and may have to be significantly delayed.

If they are having the problems they are having, and the games are drastically behind, then I could see a 2014 release.

It would be stupid for MS to release an xbone that they need to downclock and allow faulty units into customers hands which would impact their entire generation just to get the system out 2-3-4 months earlier.

But hey, MS has made dumb decision after dumb decision so it wouldn't surprise me any.

Tittle should read 95% of hardcore gamers. The average consumer isnt even aware that a ps4 or xboxone exists. They dont follow gaming news like the fanboys here. Once MS starts their advertising campaings its when they will start moving consoles with the consumers. Sonys is off to a great start with the sony harcores. I do think that's a big thing we can't underestimate.

It simply wouldn't surprise me to see 20 percent or so return rate not having to do with anything else. (like normal holiday returns or faulty products).

Maybe it won't reach that high, but it's going to be a significant number.

Too many parents are going to pick one up and not realize that little Jimmy's room doesn't have internet access and thus the xbone is useless.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see a Sim City sort of launch situation, but given that MS has a bunch of servers, and the xbone might not sell as much as they expect/they may not be able to trickle out the units because of supply issues...that might not happen.

But yeah compared to the PS4, the xbone's return rate will be unbelievably high.

This isn't all down to Sony fans. 360 owners are fed up paying for a yearly subscription just for online when they have seen how many AAA games PS+ subscribers have been getting.

They are also fed up of a staple diet of Halo, Gears & Forza - as good as they may be. When you look at Sony's exclusives on the PS3 you realize just what they will get with the PS4.

And now they both have the same PC CPUs then multi platform games will actually look that bit better on the stronger GPU of the PS4. And Sony have now learnt their lesson on cross-game chat issue and also have a headset connected to the controller with every console.

They love their 360's but they are not daft. They will still play the games they love on the 360 for a few years yet but for next gen it seems even they are choosing the PS4.

It's not just the fact that Microsoft is clearly overpricing and shoving all those unnecessary restrictions, it's also because Sony went to the polar opposite. Better hardware, lower entry price point, and no restrictions sealed the deal.

I believe Microsoft when they explained they were expecting negative feedback with the direction the console is taking but I don't think they were quite expecting this.
It's becoming dangerously closed to receiving a permanent black mark in the press and community and I hope the potential of the Xbox One isn't snuffed out by such overwhelmingly bad press, even before the console is out.

The funny/sad thing is that if PS4 launch stocks get sold out then people will buy the Xbone and that will probably get sold out aswell.

If only Sony could somehow ship around 10 million just to make sure that gamers/shoppers will choose PS4 and make sure there is enough stock so that customers won't choose Xbone.

This will never happen since it would be impossible to ship that amount and it will be a bad decision since "OUT OF STOCK" actually creates more buzz then "PLENTY OF STOCK".

UPDATE: To stay on topic, polls especially internet gaming polls are always trolled. So this could be a bunch of fanboys messing around (ex. metacritic user score). I'd also like to say that Amazon probably stopped the poll because it gives Xbone a bad reputation. They only have a 'limited' amount of PS4 and if they are all sold out they will need to push Xbone sales and that poll definitely does not help.

I've always made a point of staying out of what is largely a completely pointless/one sided argument, but after weeks of reading deluded posts stating "Sony really cares about its gamers.." and "good riddance to Microsoft they're greedy so and so's". I have to say do people really think Sony will give two hoots about you without the competition of a rival company, be it Microsoft or Nintendo? I have always owned systems from all three for the simple reason that unless you are a die hard fanboy there will always be a game on an alternative system that you think looks worth a play. Did Microsoft screw up E3, apparently so for many of you. For me nothing announced was of any great shakes, always on? My 360, PS3 and Wii have had a permanent Internet connection for the last 6 years. DRM I still don't understand the importance of this, so all the early adopters out there buying a machine for launch at the rip off prices all these consoles start at (specially the x box one!) are suddenly interested in saving a couple of quid?

Some of the arguments cited at Microsoft have really made me laugh though, best of all is the spy Kinect. Now I agree whole heartedly that this invention along with the playstation move should have remained on the drawing board but please are you seriously telling me that the kinect can record you 24/7. I'm sure that placing the control pad in front of the camera when you're not playing will overcome this.

Please people stop jumping on this ridiculous fanboy wagon it will only harm the industry as a whole. I want Sony to stay on their toes and get back to their glory days but equally I want them to do it without the security of knowing their customer base is nothing more than a deluded bunch of fanboys that think Sony are their "friends" and not actually a business out to make as much money for their share holders as possible.
