I don't think Double Helix have made anything good during their time, it's like handing something to Slant Six.

I'd say it will get the benefit of the doubt just because it's KI though

I just can't believe with such a popular title and with how much money MS has they decide to get these guys to develop it, I mean fair enough out source the IP to another developer but not a crap one, it shows such disrespect to the franchise.

NYC_Gamer3963d ago

I don't know why MS would trust Double Helix with KI in the first place.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney3963d ago (Edited 3963d ago )

Who should they trust RARE??

lol it's not the same rare dude.

SO M$ wants u to pay per character.
First time I ever seen that.

Also I hate the art direction but that is just me.

jago looks weird.

Plus u pay to play f2p's.

I am glad planetside 2 & DCUO doesn't need psn+

will be my first shooter if I don't get a day one game.

zeal0us3963d ago

Honestly Double Helix would've been one of the last developers I would trust with a game.

I would rather MS hand the project to a developer with experience with fighting games. NetherRealm would've my number one choice. Unless MS would've got all the people back from the old Rare team that left to do the project.

Wrong! Get your facts straight.

"In particular a few rather important notes were made, the first thing mentioned was that there was a small misconception with the game being free-to-play. While the game is a launch title for the Xbox One, fans will be able to purchase the full game on it's release. There will also be a demo which comes with Jago as playable character where you can play all of the game's modes including online mutliplayer."

A Demo where i can play the full game with one character and online? cool.

Intentions3963d ago

I think Rare is co-developing, or at least overseeing it. But yeah, they should of just got Rare to develop it, seeing as they have multiple teams.

Anyway, hope KI turns out well.

DxTrixterz3963d ago (Edited 3963d ago )

No not the developer but the console that it is being developed for. If they hope to get any sales they really need to make Killer Instinct multiplatform game.

Fireseed3963d ago

New first party creation method, buy a studio that does relative shit, and higher key individuals. Plus everyone who's played it has had nothing but high praise. Especially the high tier fighting game pros.

Loki863963d ago

This isn't the same double helix team, they merged three companies all which have fighting game experience. Everything I have seen from this game looks great, shame I'm not buying an X1 anymore.

This is almost as bad as when we all clamored for Mortal Kombat and they gave us Mortal Kombat VS DC instead

DragonKnight3963d ago

No it didn't. It came from Killer Instinct fans who were screaming out about it at the top of their lungs for years while Microsoft were content to let Rare desolve into a Kinect shovelware developer.

optimus3963d ago (Edited 3963d ago )

i think microsft saw how much the fans wanted it and wanted to see just how much they are willing to pay for it...how can they make this game worse? by charging $5 per character...of course they'll give their "positive spin" on their screw up by saying:

"We believe traditional fighting games have many characters people don't use and they usually stick to 2-3 characters anyway so paying full price for a game seemed like a waste of money, now we give you the option, you don't HAVE to buy every character."

(i should apply for a marketing job at microsoft)

at this point it really wouldn't surprise me if they said that.

I'll have to get this! Been a big fan of KI since the very first one.

Petebloodyonion143d ago (Edited 143d ago )

I love KI (still play the old arcade version) but feel like the Xbox version is like a big intimidating chessboard with no easy way to instruct you to play chess.
The game is so deep in terms of little things to do that it makes Smash Bros melee look like a casual experience.
Honestly, doing a combo Breaker is punish/reward by itself but hey you can add a counterbreaker.
Here's what you also need to know
Breaking Shadow-linker
Instincts
Shadow counter
Auto double,
linker, manual
ender
etc,

There isn't going to be any chance of this being played at tournaments unless it appears on all platforms like all fighting games.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH147d ago

SF5 didn’t appear on all consoles and was still played at Tournaments. I’ve seen KI tournaments recently so I don’t think your opinion is accurate.

Killer Instinct: Worth Another Look at 10 Years Old

A free-to-play fighting game? This was unheard of at the time, but Killer Instinct has proven it's not only doable, but enjoyable!
