Sony's PS4 takes up a lot of slots on the Amazon Top 20 after the announcements at E3 2013.

I'm not going to lie. I was one of those people. I had an XBOX ONE in my cart at Amazon because I love me some Forza. My wife was like go ahead, you bought consoles in the past for one game. I said, "no, let's see if Sony implements any of these restrictions and their policies are concerning DRM. If they have them then maybe I will say the heck with it and get both or even possibly get neither."

As soon as Jack Trentton made the announcement no restrictions, no drm? I removed the X1 from my cart and put 1 PS4 in it's place and ordered a 2nd under my wives Amazon account.

If Sony can go next gen without any of these restrictions or DRM, so can MS. If not, I'm a one console owner next gen for the first time since gaming's inception. <- That's how long I've been gaming.

I felt like my team won the Super Bowl when Jack announced NO DRM, NO Online verifications of any kind. Obtain your games how you choose and do with them what you choose.

I still went ahead with my preorder of the X1 only because my brother already preordered PS4.

X1 has the better exclusives that are geared towards what I like and just the familiarity with the controller is a plus as well.

As for the restrictions though I don't really mind as I don't trade games in anymore. The intrusive Kinect though, I definitely will have to see how to combat that.

The thing with the price that alot of folks are missing is that the Xbox one will come with the Kinect and the PS4 will not have the camera in box. The new PS eye will be separate from the packaged system.

I think MS is too far into development right now to change their stratagy involving kinect in every box. So that is the reason why Xbox is 100.00 more and why it will probably stay that way till early adopters finish buying up the first round of consoles.

Also if u pre order at GameStop make sure to ask if its day one. The kid told me they only got 10 Xbox and plenty of ps4's. he said they still take pre orders even if they don't have enough. You'll just have to wait to get the system. Glad they still had day one ps4's.

In another thread a n4g member said that the launch edition guarantees the console on launch day if you choose 2day shipping. The standard edition are the second wave of shipments so you might still get on launch or you could have to possibly wait 2-7 days to recieve.

Amazon's pre orders are not a binding contract. You can cancel at any time, it's always good to get your name down in case of shortages which if things carry on could be a reality.

I pre ordered at Amazon but if a better one comes around I will just cancel it. In fact I have pre ordered from two separate places just as a fail safe, I will just cancel one nearer the time.

It's a ploy. By providing a low supply, MS can say that stores were sold out within a week, whereas PS4s were still in stock.

Same here. Almost had a heart attack when I saw the standard edition wasn't guaranteed for launch day delivery, just on a supply/demand basis. Thought Sony might be doing a special box like Xbox First day thing. They only had one option last night.

Luckily when I click the now unavailable launch edition button, it says I already ordered it, even though it just says PS4 in my cart.

Glad I did that, because none of my local gamestops have it available anymore.:( Although I guess you could get Best Buy ship to store option for day 1 pick up.

So they made two different versions, standard and launch, to make sure people are aware if they are getting it on launch day?

The Launch version on Amazons page is for the first batch they get in. If you ordered that they say you're guaranteed to get one launch day(if you get two day shipping).

The Standard version is for anything they get in after that initial batch. Says you may get it launch day, but comes down to a first come first serve basis on availability. Mostly just a waiting list. Guess it depends on if they can secure more allotment before launch day.

Both versions are the same SKU of the PS4 though.

You can see which one you got by looking at the PS4 product page, and clicking the buttons between the launch and standard. The one you ordered will have a yellow alert bar across the top saying you already ordered that item.

Playstation is obviously still a more popular brand than Xbox worldwide, the only reason why Xbox was ahead of playstation for most of last generation is because it was much much cheaper, released 1 year earlier and provided 90% of the same games, yet PS3 still managed to catch up in sales.

This time Playstation is releasing at around the same time as Xbox, its gonna be much cheaper, more powerful and with no DRM. Playstation will dominate.

I also find it pretty funny how games like Battlefield 4 and Fifa 14 were shown off by Microsoft and have timed exclusive DLC for Xbox, yet the preorders for both those games on PS4 are still higher lol, looks like those exclusive deals for Microsoft aren't helping them to much.

I've never pre-ordered a console and had decided to just wait and give the new consoles some time to establish themselves before picking one up. All that changed after Sonys conference. As soon as Amazon started taking pre-orders for the PS4 I jumped on it. The enthusiasm for Sony is contagious and it's how they are approaching gamers is what won me over. It's going to be a great generation for the consoles and perhaps in a year or two I'll pick up an Xbone if or when they figure out the customer does actually matter.

Currently, in the US, the first Xbox One game to show up in Amazon's top selling list is Forza at #31. The first PS4 game shows up at #8 with Watch Dogs and three other PS4 games crack the top 20.

It's pretty incredible that the consumers have not only voiced their opinion against Microsoft, but have spoken with their wallets, too.

Checked the Xbox forums last night and a lot of gamers leaving for Sony, some did a Xbone preorder during MSFTs conference and then came with a later comment they canceled after Son;ys and did a PS4. Some threads were even trying ti build hype to unite Xbox fans but more posts were against MSFT than for. Only the blind and/or uninformed hardcore fans will buy the Xbone. Early next year it'll be interesting at articles here on N4G about upset gamers wanting refunds or something.
