And personally I'm very weary of so many reviewers just giving up perfect review scores one after the other with no real criticisms whatsoever. Either they're all robots, paid reviews or "high on the hype". I'm not saying that this game isn't amazing or great, but I've been gaming since Atari and I've played a lot of so-called 10/10 games through the years and can tell you personally I've found very, very few of those games to live up to their perfect reviews.

I have all console and a very good Pc.
I have not use my 360 since I played reach , I have not paid for live since 2008 and will never pay for live. My issue is the 360 is a great console but was so mismanaged and nickled an dime that it killed it for me.

I don't hate the console I hate how they handled it.
Sony has done all the right move with the ps3 and I did not regret buying my 60 gig at $600+.

Let me get this out the way. I am happy TLoU is getting some great scores. I really am. It's a game I've been looking forward too and am excietd to play.

The point I am trying to make is everyone suddenly loves IGN even though many, many gamers have complained about the site. It was great to see people making a big deal out of the Edge score. Edge can be very harsh in their reviews, I get the magazine regularly and I nicknamed it Eight Magazine since most games they review they give an 8. Plus it's like the fifteenth game they've given a 10. IGN throws high scores out left and right.

IGN have time and time again have been called out for poorly written reviews or doing things like the ME3 stuff which is conflict of interest. Now suddenly everyone is fine because they gave a Sony game a high score. It doesn't work both ways, guys. Same with Kotaku. Guarantee some people will read their review and comment on it even though the standards of Kotaku have dropped considerably.

But you're all blind it. A questionable site gives a game you want a good score and you're happoy, all the past forgiven until they make an article on your console of choice and you start the whole 'You can't spell ignorant without..' crap again.

Tell me to 'grow up', say I like whichever console or whatever. Feel free to check my comments and see I am a supporter of games and don't blindly follow one company.

Naughty Dog: the only game(s) I play on my PS3. I really have no preference to system (except Wii/U, that's just stupid). I do however have a massive preference to a controller and that controller is the Dreamcast/Xbox version. Nothing feels more comfortable and it doesn't give me carpel-tunnel like the Dualshock does. If someone could develop an xbox feel controller that works on the PS system I guarantee I would play it more often. Off topic I know, but I wanted to plug my absolute pleasure in all 3 Uncharted/Naughty Dog games. They are truly amazing.

I have seen some insider of Uncharted in the past. They are awesome just by that. I cannot compare them to any other studio though. There is nothing to dislike with what they do though. TLoU I just can imagine... A such a polished product! Wow. Wow! They ARE hard to beat. The rest of all the games out there, whatever there is to beat them down with, I get it. The industry as a whole are like a battlefield...

But ND do stand out in it's professionalism and, boy, do they make a theatrical, emotional of an impact with their games?! For me they do. I thought at first that Uncharted 2 was just a blockbuster. For me, it has actually grown on me, several years later.

I hope they do great with TLoU. They so deserve it...voff!

That's pretty much how IGN operates, it'll talk vaguely about how the game makes you care about characters, or about how the combat is 'fast paced and fun', and then blatantly avoid giving us examples where we can judge for ourselves whether we'd find the gameplay fun.

Too often in reviews I see an embelished version of something like "The visuals were cool, and the characters were people I actually cared about". Ok....So what about the visuals were cool? Was it photorealistic? A unique art style? Detailed objects and other details that make the world feel lived in? Why did you care about the characters? Was it the situation they're put in? Does it come from a detailed character arc or is the character static? Can you give me any specific examples of how the developer was able to evoke empathy for these characters?

It's a problem a lot of reviewers have. I don't read a review to see if the reviewer liked the game, I really couldn't care less about that. I read it for information about the game that lets me decide if I think that sounds like something I'd like.

I think Dark Souls was the last time I was this excited for an upcoming game.

The scores are incredible already, and let's face it.....Perfect scores are given a little too much, but from what I've seen, this game deserves them or at the very least it comes extremely close.

I love how 90% of the time IGN is mentioned it's along the lines of "Lol, IGN is short for ignorant", but the second a 10/10 review for an exclusive comes out it's all "See I told you it was good and IGN's review proves it!".

Plus the review is by Colin Moriarty, whose opinions I wouldn't trust with safety scissors. The guy who thought ME3 was a masterpiece including the ending, thought Homefront was a great game, and gave Last Light a 7.2 is not someone I think I can see eye-to-eye with.

Sorry about turning this into a rant. TLOU may be great, I don't know since I haven't played it, but I get so sick and tired of the fanboys going "OMG look at the review scores for this game, bet those retards who bought a *insert rival console* are jealous they can't play it, lulz shoulda bought a *insert owned console* instead."

Man I gotta disagree, I watched the demo and it looked boring, every playthrough will play out the same. Regardless of review score I think GTA5 and Infinite will go down in history as more important games.

Nobody talks about BioShock Infinite anymore clarkdef, like most AAA sequels this year it failed to sell through. Ni No Kuni, a new IP, sold more on PS3.

GTA is yet another sequel. Back to San Andreas. This is like the 10th GTA game. What's the historical significance?

New IPs with great debuts like TLOU will go down in history as "more important" because they simply don't happen very often. You're only new once. Just ask DMC.

I think the real importance of this kind of score is why it was scored so high. I believe that the foundation of the industry has been focused on other things like the concept of popularity, socialization, motion control, online multiplayer, and family.

I've been seeing a trend where these values would supercede a game based on their single player merits. As an example a game like Call of Duty would receive high praise because of multiplayer, regardless of the quality of single player. On the flipside games with great single player without online (or weak online) would have complaints about how single player is no longer enough to hold today's standard, and rate heavier the online aspect if the game had it.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is probably the only game that had a reputation so strong for it's single player that they went ahead and acknowledged the need to make two separate reviews. One for online and one for the story.

For the rest of the generation it hasn't really been this way. When the Wii sales started slipping it started to indicate that people would refocus on the "nonsocial" experience and return to where gaming's foundation has always been.

I'm glad to see single player games return to the industry's spotlight once again. It shows we never really needed to change anything in the first place.

IGN said UC1 was 8 hours long, UC2 10 hours long , UC3 8 hours long and now they say the last of us is 17 hours long. if this is true the last of us has the longest campaign naught dog has made on this generation .

Just read the eurogamer review and wow. I don't play much on my PS3 tbh but this looks too good to miss.

I'm only just getting through killzone 2. It's nice to be able to pick up the ps3 classics on the cheap - one benefit of being a mainly Xbox gamer but also with an eye on ps3 and some patience :-)
