The Art Of War and Xbox One = Defeat | Av Product Reviews

Sun Tzu's Art of War has long been used by military and business strategists. Microsoft has left themselves extremely vulnerable by not adhering to several principles of the Art of War. Their hubris may in fact cause them to lose the battle for the next cycle of gaming consoles.

We decide with our money when the console come out. To say Xbox One equal defeat is premature and a opinion.

The author neglected this lesson:

"Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment — that which they cannot anticipate.”

Basically, Microsoft was being Microsoft with their reveal. However, this may be a ploy for Sony and Nintendo to make ill-advised moves that lead to MS coming over the top with something that is truly amazing.

But who knows?

The author doesn't seem to get Sun Tzu's lessons himself.

Lesson one.

Consoles are used for far more than games. Surveys and studies have shown that they are more than gaming machines. PS3 users watch Netflix over 30% of the time. SO it could be said that Microsoft is the one attacking where the enemy is unprepared. The same as they did with Live this generation.

Lesson two.

Most of the information on the PS4 was leaked months ago. The Xbox parts are still a secret. No one really knows what they are. Plus E3 is a few weeks away. The battle was already at hand. As far as the varying reports, controversy increases interest. Coupled with the secrecy and admissions like 15 first year exclusives and people want to know what is going to happen.

Lesson 3.

I give it to Sony with their ability to turn a bunch of gamers into tea-party members that can ignore facts and live in a magic bubble. But allowing people to get ramped up and then dropping a bomb at E3 completely discredits the naysayers. They come out looking like fools without a clue.

Winning over the hearts and minds of gamers is only a small part of a successful console. Sony is doing just about all of the same things MS is doing. Fanboys just refuse to acknowledge it. When the Wii launched, it won the hearts and minds of a few gamers, but far more parents and grandparents. But then the novelty wore off. The difference with the Xbox One is that some of the things it is offering are services those non-gamers use anyway. In a far better package. The success of Tivo was it worked better than other DVRs. The One does the same thing.

It may bother some gamers, but the fact that the PS4 will do all or most of the same things and that doesn't bother them shows that their opinions don't mean much. I mean, who cares what the village idiot thinks. So in the long run, Sony's ability to fool a small segment of society, gamers, doesn't mean much if Microsoft can attract a larger percentage of the entire society. After all, in the bubble, people don't seem to realize that these companies are in this for the profit. If they understood that they would take a hint from the fact that Sony is seriously considering splitting up the company to raise money. Because right now, they are probably having a really hard time getting any money from a bank.

Disagree all you want. I will never blink.

Probably won't happen for PS+ since Sony makes a clear distinction between a PS4 game and a PS5 game, unlike PC and Xbox where it is not a specific device game (It's now always an Xbox game).

So to make the PS5 game of fallout 4 available. Bethesda would need to renegotiate the complete deal with Sony.
hence why there's often only the PS4 version of the game available on PS+.

Let's hope Bethesda and Sony can arrive to term quickly.

In that same link, they talked to further support who said PS+ owners aren’t eligible. What a load of BS! The upgrade worked just fine for FF7R. I was looking forward to this. 😞

PS5 upgrades for PS4 games on PS+ are hit and miss. The reason is usually that publisher doesn’t want to hand out free upgrades. Sometimes they offer the upgrade upfront, sometimes they are bullied into it, and sometimes they offer it later in a special edition that Sony buys for PS+. It looks here like Bethesda’s intent was to raise the profile of Fallout 4 (and sell some DLC) so I expect we will see an update for PS+ versions soon.

Bethesda themselves acknowledged that Plus users are eligible. There is just some kind of glitch and they are working to fix it.

I think a hard copy should be relatively cheap at this point.

Roughly a fiver for disc. It's also £3.99 on PSN right now for both PS4 and ps5 version.

North America sale just ended. The timing for me absolutely blows.

So if I insert my ps4 disc I should get the upgrade?

This article is funny. They tell you that $35 is a good deal for this game...We know whose side they are on.
