Thanatophobia is an indie survival horror game, based on Resident Evil's classic gameplay mechanics

DSOGaming writes: "Now this is a pleasant surprise. We all loved the first parts of the Resident Evil franchise. You know; fixed camera viewpoints in which players control the main characters in order to solve puzzles. So, meet everyone Thanatophobia; a PC game that is based on Resident Evil’s classic gameplay mechanics that looks more interesting than Resident Evil 5 & 6 combined."

Just from the image it looks like a resident evil game from the passed. Would like to see some gameplay.

Sorry. Badly scripted, bad voice acting.

Sounds like Duke Nukem, but at least the voice acting in Duke was intentionally cringeworthy. Looked ok visually, but the voice acting just sounded off putting right from the start. :(

Very nice, replayed Resident Evil Remake a few months ago and forgot how amazing it was. While I'd love a new RE in that style (or at least a RE2 remake) but since that is unlikely, I'll take a good indie RE game any day.

I heard of this title about a year and a half a go. It's been hush for a while but glad to see it still in production.

It's a hentai called Kyuuketsuki. It's okay and the animation quality for the last episode is damn good.

look like Silent Hill Than Resident Evil.

When I think RE mechanics I think horrible camera angles and awful controls.

Yeah, RE6 was terrible. >_<

RE: CvX was da sh*t!!! >:b

Some people see it that way.
Some people see the camera angles as a way to create tension and they have a lot of impact on the mood of the game. As for the controls I've never once had a problem with tank controls in horror games.
Some tweaks here and there maybe but they were never a huge problem to begin with in my opinion.

lol awful controls. The controls are exactly the same. EXACTLY THE SAME. The only thing that changed is the camera angle. And no it wasn't horrible. As HarryMasonHerpderp mentioned "Some people see the camera angles as a way to create tension and they have a lot of impact on the mood of the game." My friend picked up Code Veronica when i was like 9. He played it for like 5 minutes and said the game sucked due to the same old "awful camera & controlz" excuse. He gave it to me, i found it a bit annoying at first but once i realised that up meant forward and down meant back (like in EVERY game),,, it wasn't as "horrible" as most people claim. Plus those games had great stories.

You know, the thing modern day awesome action camera controls RE's DON'T have?

Death Knell Games On Survival Horror: "We're Getting Sick Of The New Resident Evils"

Thanatophobia. Now that’s a catchy title. The word actually means ‘fear of death’ so you can hazard a guess as to what genre this debut title from Death Knell Games falls in to. Of course it’s a survival horror and one that we hold close to our hearts. Why? Well, as huge fans of survival horror we find ourselves rather disappointed in the AAA shift towards something that more closely resembles action-horror.

Resident evil movies and games alike should have ended a good long time ago.

Kyosuke_Sanada4445d ago (Edited 4445d ago )

These dudes sound like they are actually cooking with Strickland propane. I just hope their ambitions translate well into the game itself. I'm trying my hardest to contain myself for Thanatopia because this may be a proper evolution of survival horror without jumping genres.....

Please don't disappoint Death Knell. ;_;
