How Ghost Games hopes to put itself on the map with Need for Speed Rivals

Polygon writes:

'Need for Speed Rivals is the next installment in EA's prolific racing series — a series that every gamer is certainly familiar with. Less familiar is the team that is actually making Rivals: Ghost Games, an EA-owned developer based out of Gothenburg, Sweden.'

I hope this will be a decent arcade racer.
Looks promising. Graphics look great!

yes, it do look promising, graphic hot like criterions Hotpursuit but!!! will it be another clone of Burnout like mostwanted and hotpursuit was. also if you seen the short video. the cars are DRIFTING so im seriously hoping this not a rival of drifting masters through out the game that would be boring as hell fast and another disappointment. no more open world arcade bring back close circuit and hotpursuit 2 style racing

I think I've had enough Need For Speeds for one lifetime. Maybe it's time to move on EA....

Need PS4 game footage or GTFO

MilkMan3987d ago

Not interested in open world arcade racers.
Just make another Split Second and Blur and stop fooling around, will ya!

Nfs is boring i prefer sims like Project CARS ect, that racer will end all, plus Criterion are not on board so who cares.

EA will move Need for Speed development back to Criterion

From GI.biz: "EA will return the Need for Speed franchise to UK games studio Criterion.

Current franchise leader Ghost Games in Gothenburg is set to become EA Gothenburg once again (pending Swedish Union approval). The studio will refocus itself as an engineering hub supporting development across EA's portfolio. EA told GamesIndustry.biz that: "The engineering expertise in our Gothenburg team, some of whom are architects of the Frostbite engine, is vital to a number of our ongoing projects, and they would remain in that location."

I would love a Burnout Paradise 2. My favorite Burnout was Paradise.

darthv721531d ago (Edited 1531d ago )

Their game will be called "Need For Speed: Burnout"

Godmars2901531d ago

Is there an actual Criterion to go back to, or is it just a front name for a group of unaffiliated devs?

coolbeans1531d ago

More of the latter, but there's potential to bring some of the OG team back.

Hopefully this means more combat, ala Rivals/Hot Pursuit.

LucasRuinedChildhood1531d ago (Edited 1531d ago )

Yes. This is a wise move on EA's part. There was barely an ounce of fun in Ghost Games' NFS games (terrible handling, insane rubberbanding in NFS 2015, etc). Hot Pursuit was incredible and Most Wanted 2012 probably shouldn't have been called MW but it was a ton of fun. Hopefully, we'll get a Burnout game as well.

Dirtnapstor1531d ago

Hello Burnout! Welcome home!!!

RaidenBlack1531d ago

Dunno about the current devs credibility but still a great news.
