That's true, but to be honest the Kinect camera does look superior to the PS4 camera, I mean features like 1080p... recording of heartbeat etc. Plus, it's going to be another generation with Xbox getting the Call of Duty DLC a month early. Sony should implement some exclusivity deal(s) on their console too. For example getting BF4 DLC one month early would be great, currently PS3 users get BF3 DLC one week early so why not enhance this deal? Another thing which I noticed was the fact that the amount of image clarity and detail in Forza's announcement trailer made it quite elegant. Perhaps even better than Driveclub. However I think the PS4 will be a lot better, if Sony could address these slight inferiorities it would be even better.

As soon as Don Mattrick said All-in-One like three times straight at the beginning of the conference, I said "I bet it's called Xbox One", and lo and behold, 30 seconds later, Xbox One. I personally think that the name does work, but it is also confusing to the casual users.

I was impressed by the TV stuff, but it is VERY America-focused. None of the stuff they showed hinted at similar features for other territories, and even then, there will be very few people that actually use some of the features they mentioned. I think Skype was a good announcement, but even then, people have Skype on their laptops to call their grandmas, do they really think that grandma will buy an Xbox just to use Skype and talk to their families?

No live demos and there was talk about just a few games. It gave me the impression that watching TV is the BIG thing now and Games are nothing but a mere afterthought... To me, playing games on a gaming console is the priority and watching TV is an option!

What I will do, I won't jump to conclusions now, I will wait for E3 and see what happens in detail.

I completely disagree, this reveal showed almost nothing of interest to me.

I wanted to know what their plan was and they showed it and it turned out to be far removed from what I'm interested in. I don't play fantasy league sports, I don't really watch sports or play sports games, I don't and haven't had cable for over 3 years for that switch back an forth option, I'm not interested in motion controlling games. I don't like he fact that the camera is a mandatory part of the system as it just increases cost, if this thing launches at more than $400 they're in trouble.

They didn't show very many games but E3 could at least change that and be a saving grace. Only thing of interest are their "8 exclusive new IPs within the first year". I'm pretty sure Sony's going to beat that number too.

So far it's completely underwhelming, I was already in Sony's boat and this just made me pull out the fishing poll as I plan to be here a while.

What MS needed to do here was address the always online to play games and if used games were going to be locked. By not addressing those rumors, then I think the lack of addressing them is confirmation of those rumors.

Just so you know, Sony has hinted that their camera will come with the system, too. I doubt it will be required to use the console, but the "increases cost" argument should be levied at Sony as well.

Sony has made no such hint, I have no idea where you heard that but they've clearly stated that the camera would be separate when they mentioned "Not needing the camera for the light bar controller functions to work".

It's definitely not shipping with the console, there's no reason for it to. Sony doesn't have a heavy focus on motion control gaming, they just give you it as an option as a peripheral should be.

Not at all. I wasn't impressed by Xbox at all. i have a tv, and i can watch shows and all that crap. plus i don't to sign up with cable and have a monthly bill. Also, all the game they showed will come to PS4. Also, it looks like it has to be always online. Disappointed, this isn't a gaming system, rather a cable box. Plus i get max - 6 download speed in my area, and i don't think its enough. plus snapping and bragging and hand gestures just seem funny. i think ps4 will be more simple, and user friendly w/o all the other crap.

Yep, some countries don't have cable but still have internet and electricity. Some countries don't even have internet, so MS making that call was a really selfish thing to do. Basically saying "we have the goods, but since you can't afford it you should try to move here, America is great."

dude i'm the opposite, I'm an Xbox junkie and I'm switching to PS4. I traded in my Xbox console 5 times before they sent me one that didn't mess up. To be honest I'm kind of a poor person, paying for online is something that I don't have the time for. Paying for a console is something I have the time for when I have the funds available. I'm just tired of Xbox, you can do what you want, as we all are on here. Xbox looks alright with all the hyped features, but honestly I don't even use the features it has now.

While I am obviously a Sony supporter I was mainly happy to see that the One seems to be similar as far as hardware specs. There are some obvious differences and we don't have all the details on either yet, but I am at least hopeful that the similarities will mean better 3rd party games for BOTH systems and tighter competition that gamers can only benefit from. I am curious what percentage of the 15 exclusives they are coming out with are AA titles and if any are Kinect shovelware type games and I would like to know more details on the future of Live and so on, but I guess we will have to wait for E3. Overall I don't think anyone was surprised by anything Microsoft revealed today, for good or bad, but so far it looks like the next gen will be the best yet on a number of points. Just my .02

I've never taken sides really. Loved the PS1, then enjoyed both PS2 and the original Xbox. This gen I've had a blast with the 360.

Eventhough it's not had many interesting exclusives to vouch for the last 2 years I have such a huge backlog of games that I probably won't be ready for a new console in at least a year or so.

And if anyone should be a fanboy it would be me really since Sony pays my rent every month :)

i agree with you but at the same time your xbox will be in the same place as the other things that it also does. with a cellphone you're mostly using it on the go where the rest of the features will be great. so saying that it lacked what makes a great console great is justified.

As long as online play remains free on PS4 and WiiU that's where I'll be doing my gaming. If XboxOne allows for free multiplayer then I'll have to seriously consider it an option as opposed to PS4, but Live is just not worth the extra $250-$450 over a consoles life cycle IMO.

I'm more excited for PS4 now. The TV stuff is actually kind of cool but it's obvious MS is sacrificing consol power for Kinect and multimedia functionality.

I'm going with the console with the best looking/running multiplats and games. MS could have matched or exceeded PS4 power if they didn't include a Kinect in every box. Also, how much of that slow 8 gig RAM will be used to keep movies, TV, music, Skype,etc. running in the background all the time while running Kinect too.

Yes the PS4 is primarily a gamers system first. But that is where Sony is getting it right. I don't really know what other markets MS has been successful in. Other than the XBOX any other venture outside of their PC software has been lackluster at best. Sony has always been more diverse and integrated in the entertainment side of things. Even before the PS1 even got started they were already successful with their home entertainment products, BMG, and movie studios. The PS2 had DVD integration from day one with no outside controller needed. it was also responsible for the major adoption of DVD. The same with PS3 and Blu Ray. It practically carried the Blu Ray market because they were so focused on making it work for movies and games. Frankly MS is going in the wrong direction and this will actually end up hurting them.

When it comes to games I don't think there was any doubt that Sony would deliver a better gaming experience than Microsoft, from a general sense. The PS4 proved that Sony focused on gamers. With the Xbox One it's quite possible that it will outsell the PS4 purely because it has a broad appeal and 300,000 servers for playing Call of Duty.

To me, a gamer, I knew before the PS4 was revealed I would likely get it because I want to play games. The PS4 will play Netflix, and pretty much everything else I can do on something I already have be it computer, cable TV or iPhone. Microsoft's vision with the Xbox One is ambitious, and smart, but they have got to nail it out of the park. If it turns out that the only significant difference between their console and the PS4 is a Halo live action TV series and switching between TV and a game by yelling at your Xbox, then Microsoft has made a huge mistake.

In short, PS4 will be the gamers machine while Microsoft has a difficult but possible chance to make more money.

Sony showed loads of games and I liked the new features:
* Share button to relive those moments when I get past a hard part of a game
* Download 1st part of game and start playing while rest downloads
* Watch friends gameplay live and also take over if they are stuck
* Carry on game with vita when I'm out
* Very high specs and unified Ram
* Developers asked what they wanted from a console
* New controller features

Microsoft showed very few games and I only learnt:
* Control TV guide and programs with voice
* Switch apps/TV/to game with voice

and not a great deal more. Was hoping for more info on specs. Also all the equipment look massive (we'll see what PS4 looks like at E3).

I'm so tired of these negative comments on the Xbox One. One thing I learned from being on this site is anything Microsoft will be viewed negative by the SDF. So far I don't see any advantages to Sony's console - just a spec bump. Granted Sony have some talented development studios and I am sure that there will be some great exclusive titles, but so will Microsoft. 13 exclusives in the first year, 8 of which are new IP's? That sounds pretty good to me given that I am also getting something that offers a new experience - not just more of the same with a fresh lick of paint.

If games are single and your only motivator to buying a console - then wait until E3. Microsoft smartly elected to ensure they have new content that is relevant to the audience (ie gamers and a gaming convention - strange right?)

There also one key thing that you all seem to miss (ignore?) and that is the use of Windows Azure. Unlimited DEDICATED servers for ALL multiplayer games. Enjoy your lagging local hosted peer to peer games.....

I was planning on getting a ps4 since I've always played playstation and I enjoy most of their exclusives. I also had plans to get the xbox1, since I can afford both for once (would be my first Xbox console ever), but the reveal somewhat killed my plans for that. Microsoft will need to have some killer games at E3, but for the time being, I'll just look forward to what Sony has left to reveal for the PS4!

PS4 For me. First of all, No money to buy two Consoles, 2nd of all I wouldn't buy a XBO even if I could because I'm not wanting to talk to it and You need to pay a fee for other users to play a game you bought, so If your Brother, wife or whatever wants to play on there account you must pay a fee.

I rarely watch TV on my TV, I watch almost everything on my PC, my son watches netflix on the PS3.

My anticipation for PS4 has been very much affected , this MS reveal conference reminded me how much I appreciate Sony and my anticipation for PS4 is amped x1000 .MS said 15 exclusives will be released within the first year of the Xbox One launch window but you have to wonder how many of those are going to be Kinect based titles . PS4 focused on GAMES which is something that's going to grab a gamer/consumer attention , MS didn't present that all the other crap is irrelevant I have uverse if I want to watch tv and listen to music , I don't want a console to watch sports and movies etc ..... You can only go so far on Gears and Halo as your top 2 exclusives looks like the water in that well is running dry . If MS doesn't release new IP's as exclusives not Kinect I can't see MS winning the next gen battle not that I ever thought they would anyway . No, actually, I was already convinced I wanted to get a PS4. Had the Xbox One been streets ahead of the PS4, even in terms of gameplay only, I might have changed my mind and decided to just stick with getting the next Xbox. Obviosuly, that won't be happening.

It still remains to be seen what the price points are, but I'd be surprised if the XBox One is significantly cheaper then the PS4.

This gen I bought a 360, PS3, and Wii (PSP and DS too). Last gen I bought Xbox, Dreamcast, PS2 and Gamecube. So no fanboy here, I judge a system on its own merits, and sadly today I saw nothing, not one single thing, to make me want to buy Xbox One.

From what we saw today, Xbox One is everything I don't want/need in a gaming console. Not really surprised, because MS has been heading down this path since the invent of Kinect.

Microsoft is making an entertainment device that also plays games, while I am interested in the complete opposite. I want a gaming system that also does entertainment.

If you are into trendy toys, and family friendly Kinect games, then good for you, but I am not interested in paying top dollar for a bunch of features that are uninteresting to me.

I really admired how Microsoft decided to focus on what the console can do, what the tech was inside of it, and what new services consumers can expect.

I mean they didn't go out there and show a bunch of non-exclusive games like Bungie, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and Capcom did for Sony.

Plus they showed their system, at a console reveal it shouldn't be about games. It is about the piece of hardware you are going to play tons of games on.

One of the big things from the recent weeks that caught my attention was EA dropping online passes. That set me on high alert because no way do they do that unless there was a solution brewing that they felt comfortable with. MS yesterday revealed what that solution is they are looking to deploy.

My fear now is that Sony could be on board with this too given EA's blanket dropping of the whole program. At Sony's press announcement, the question was raised about used games and sony said they would not block used games. But the discussion of games installing to the PS4 never raised the question of it being tied to the account at the time because I don't think any one really bothered to ask. Could Sony be quietly sitting back and letting MS take the bullet while they have a very similar plan?

Edit: looking back I know "Yoshida, told reporters that any requirement for users to register a game online in order to play it would be left to game publishers. Sony won't require that." which leaves a lot of wiggle room for the EA's of the world to say this is a requirement just like the Xbox One system.

MS hasn't officially released any info on second hand games, BC or games because they were debuting the console only, not the games. What games did PS4 show? My point exactly. E3 is about the games and again another press conference. Relax until you know all of the info. I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 and for folks to be complaining about these huge leaps in entertainment is ludicrous. These systems are both pretty incredible, but you don't have enough information yet to make an informed decision. Microsoft has done a nice job with the One, I for one can't wait to see and hear the WHOLE story.

MS has over the last 1-2 years been focusing its efforts on expanding the customer base of the Xbox Brand. Look at it from MS viewpoint. In their eyes MS already has the Hardcore Gamer locked up on their side. After all, the Hardcore Gamer stuck with them through the Red Ring fiasco. They continue to Stay with Xbox Live when every other comparable online service is free. In their eyes MS has the Core Gamer firmly on their side. So how do they expand and gain new customers? They modify Xbox One to be more attune with casual gamers in an attempt to capture some of the market.

OK. now what about the ps4 announcement was anywhere close to the Xbox one announcement? they pretty much did the same exact thing but at least the Xbox one showed off some innovative features. let's be real here. everyone's judging Microsoft for not showing a ton of games as if this was the e3 show, when in reality sonyndid the samn damn thing. the only game that they truly showed that was not a tech demo was that stupid game knack. they both had an event. they both gave very little to no info about the true spec potiental of either console. they displayed recorded and share features. they both showed off the controller. but here is the difference, the only shock and innovation was then choosing to go with the 8gig gddr5 memory as apposed to the 4gig (shock) and the share button on the controller (innovation). Microsoft did more. they showed the box. showed the controller. gave you innovation with the TV and cable features. debunked all negative rumors just as everyone has been asking them to (they gave you what you asked for in that aspect). and they actually showed you how their product actually worked with out just shooting a bunch of spec tech info at the consumers when most of them don't even know what's being said. they even gave you a brief glimpse into e3 with games and telling us that they are buying and putting up a bunch of studios and creating a bunch of brand new ip's. they also told us that e3 will be all about the games, so it would make total sense to get the low tech stuff out of the way now and keep the shock and aw for the big day to e3. we all know that know company can shock and aw like Microsoft. like them or not, they are the best and out shinning the rest (and I didn't mean for that to rhyme)
