Baden of WGB writes: "If nothing else Trion Worlds deserve kudos for attempting something very different, a blending of videogame and TV show to try and create one world wherein the events of either medium can affect the other. The result of this mad experiment was Defiance, a third-person shooter in MMO guise.
But I’m worried that Defiance is hurting Defiance."
After 8 years of Defiance and 3 years of Defiance 2050, both titles are being sunsetted on April 29, 2021.
gamigo confirmed that it has acquired major assets from Trion Worlds, known for online and console MMO games such as Rift, Defiance, Trove and ArcheAge.
"Making sure to accommodate the 4K resolution is both a benefit and a hurdle with game development," says Defiance dev.
I seen an article in gameinformer that MS will be releasing an Xbox One F. $899 with 8% increase over Xbox One X. First time I seen or heard anything about it. Is it true or was it a joke?
If X could do 60fps compared to Pro 30fps may be it would matter more. Otherwise both can do well over 1080P which is more than enough. Games is what matters most.
On a slightly off-topic note I've still not yet managed to hunt down a legendary weapon, though I may not be a high enough EGO rating to find any, I suppose.
Mind you, I've heard people who do have them say they're not worth the time it took to get hold of them. Can anyone on here offer up an opinion?
Back on topic a little, I do like this weeks episode tie-in. it feels like the first proper crossover we've had, even if the mission itself is still dull.
I don't agree totally with the author, but even he admits to being too harsh. The game takes a lot of resources including time to make changes. This is not like a show where you just change a script mid scene. I think the game will get better because Trion is behind it. This is one MMO where I am not yawning 10 minutes after starting because it can be HARD. If they would only make the death penalty harsher, I would be happier! But I like the game and show!
It was a pretty massive endeavor, and isn't great. Show uses a ton of resources and, unfortunately, is just kind of mediocre. I have the feeling that if the show was a web series instead of a cable broadcast, it would probably do a lot better and be more easily forgiven for not being amazing. Defiance has so many amazing shows to compete with right now, someone coming from watching GoT would be super disappointed (even though GoT is a high standard).
Game of Thrones
Edit: post went wrong this was a respone to MilkMan.
The only reason I watch the Defiance tv show is because I play the game. Normally, I don't watch tv at all and I watch full episodes of the show on syfy web site.
