Max Payne 3 has shipped 4 million copies

During an earnings report for its 2013 fiscal year, Take-Two (parent company of 2K) revealed that six million copies of Borderlands 2 have been shipped to retailers to date. According to Take-Two president Karl Slatoff, Gearbox’s shooter is on track to be the highest-selling release in the history of the 2K label (which doesn’t include Rockstar Games).

my favorite game this gen not named batman and uncharted. My only complaint are the cut scenes. First time through they were fine because I enjoyed the story. But going back through a 2 and 3rd time was annoying cause some of the cut scenes were long and you couldn't skip them.

The game's certainly different feeling from most games. Challenging to a fault, there's no doubt that it's tense and a hardcore gamer's dream. But it's not quite what Remedy did with the series.

At some point people decided that Max Payne was mainly about jumping around in slow motion looking and feeling cool, where you could easily die in any 2 minute cycle as if you were playing just an arcade game.

That's not what the original Max Payne games were about. I used to play them not always using bullet time in every fight actually. In Max Payne 3 that would be utterly, suicidally, impossible.

The first 2 Max Payne games were, in my view, not all that far removed from the likes of Silent Hill. The series starts with the murder of your wife and child, it doesn't get much more grim. I liked the comic book panels in the first game the best - they were clearly amateurs (staff working in the studio). It added to the charm of the first game.

It's not the location of Max Payne 3 that is an issue with the atmosphere but how it is all much more arcadey, with quick time bits. The first 2 games had some platforming elements, proper adventures. Max Payne 3 is just a really great souped up arcade game I think.

I didnt get max payne 3 being new to the series, and I grew tired of the gameplay after a couple of hours. There is literally nothing to do other than hide behind cover then jump sideways in slow mo and aim for a headshot. Ok there is a little variety in the combat but outside of this the game is just dead for me.

I waited on the game, thinking I wouldn't take to it as a true Max Payne game. While, yes, it didn't feel like Max Payne much to me, what I was given was a third-person shooter that made me forget I am pretty tired of third-person shooter.
It was a very polished, engaging and well written game that, personally, might be my favorite in the series. Really hope there is a four coming at some point.

Doesn't hurt that the PC port, to my surprise, considering this is Rockstar, was damn stellar. A truly gorgeous game and run like butter on the machines that should be able to run it so.

Even though I enjoyed Max Payne, the cut scenes were too many too long and the gameplay didn't have much variety to it... It was pretty much just cover shoot cut scene cover shoot cut scene. A game similar enough that I thought was a bit better is Hitman Absolution.

loved it, this and far cry 3 were my top games of last year, only thing that pissed me off with it was there was no grenades or molotovs!!!??? hope they make another.

I just finished it again for the third time, no game makes the player feel like they are in an action movie like this one does. This is one of my favorite games this generation.

The shooting mechanics are first class but the story was everywhere. I liked the flashback scenes the most.

Bring Max back home to NYC to clean the streets for good.
