GTA 5: why I’m just not that bothered…yet

Grand Theft Auto 5 has been whipping gamers up into a soapy lather of hype, speculation and excitement since it was first revealed. VG247′s Dave Cook explains why he’s not bothered…yet.

Very beginning of the story: "I’ve only completed one GTA game. It was the third one."

Yeah, I stopped reading at that point.

I'm not bothered at all, i've played every Grand Theft Auto and never completed one, they start of okay and get repetitive quick and last too long with their similiar storylines and lack of interesting story telling etc etc hate the game but always end up getting it because of the hype...not again.

uhhh you’re talking about GTAIV right... Ya I thought so too

You probably missed out on ViceCity and SanAndreas. Those were real GTA games

The Ballad Of Gay Tony made up for some of GTAIV mistakes in case you’re interested…

I'm the total opposite. GTA5 sounds exactly like what I wanted and expected. They have done all I thought they would and combined the detailed city of 4 with the expansive and varied countryside of RDR. They seem to have learnt from Max Payne 3 for the gunplay and animations. They have brought in some very intriguing, contrasting, and funny characters. You have the switching, loads of customisation, a gigantic world, a lot of activities (seemingly) and bucket loads of vehicles of all types to mess about in.

This COULD well be the best GTA to date. It could almost define everything the series is about. I can't wait.

Post written for views i say.

I'm the same, and I always sort of semi regret buying GTA games. This one is definitely impressive, but I don't know, it still seems like more of the same. We're relating to this world the same way- jacking cars and shooting people. I just want to explore and discover. Why does open world nearly always = Psychopathic murderer protangonist.

I think it is because a tourism simulator would be dull and sadly I can't be a psycho in real life. Well I could, but it would end badly for me. Plus GTA5 seems to have 3 very different protagonists each with different motivations.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos33d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
