OnlySP: At the end of last year, it seemed like this year would be a pinnacle in the world of video games. Looking at the early release schedule there were literally oodles of games that we thought would be some of the best games of the generation. Some lived up to what fans expected, but unfortunately a large majority of this year’s releases have ended up in a disappointment.
Tomb Raider I, II, III Remastered is available now on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Lara Croft is back in a classic remaster of the original PlayStation 1 hit title. Is the remaster any good though?
We've gone on many adventures with Lara Croft. With another reboot in the making, Wealth of Geeks felt it was a good time to go down the nostalgia rabbit hole and remember the best of those tomb-raiding thrills.
For me, Legend should be alot higher (along with the other two ). Shadow, I enjoyed it, but has too much has fluff, as modern games tend to do. Playing the remastered series, and apart from the controls, is very good.
I really enjoyed the first 2 games, Legend and the first of the reboots and the rest I didn’t get into so I never finished.
Completely subjective list. I really liked Underworld, I preferred Lara's design. That said I loved the horror/uncharted feel of the reboot. I think all the TR games have strengths and weaknesses. None are objectively better in every way.
Like the film or television industry, the world of gaming has seen its fair share of reboots over the years. While some of these video game reboots have had
nope
For me, yes, Tomb Raider, God of War Ascension and Dead Space 3 were just OK, nothing breathtaking or amazing.
not really, just bored with all the shooters. I want to play lots of different games and have FUN with them. I found myself either playing my WiiU more often, or my Alienware to play strategy games.
My Xbox and Ps3 where collecting dust for most of 2012.
They have a real hard sell for a gamer like me come this next-gen.
Nothing disappointing about Ascension imo. Fun game is fun.
It hasn't been disappointing at all, I think the sales might be disappointing, but look back at when new consoles have been announced, really great games get overlooked because people are saving up for new consoles, games and experiences.
A few good examples would be Super Metroid for the SNES, maybe one of the best games of all time, but nobody bought it because the PS1 was coming out, and the N64 had been announced. Conker had the same issues, great game, but sold like poo because of the new console announcements.
I thought Tomb Raider, Gears Judgment, God Of War Ascension and a lot of other games were great, but I personally know people who opted not to buy some of these games because they are saving money for other consoles...
