FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Release Window Confirmed for the Summer, PS4 Version Hinted, New Info Revealed

The Nico Nico Chokaigi 2 event is in full swing at the Makuhari Messe Tokyo and Square Enix is holding a large Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn stage event in collaboration with Windows 8.

During yesterday’s part of the event livestreamed on Nico Nico quite a few interesting information were revealed as director and producer Naoki Yoshida (disguised as a white-haired miqo’te for the occasion) answered questions from the fans.

Well it will take over a year for the PS4 version so it's not weird that the person would get a copy for both systems.

@state - the only times i've gotten multiple copies of a game are the final fantasy games for the PS1. super nintendo tends to delete my files when i'm at the end of the game in FFVI >:\

I have done the same with ff: tactics from ps1 to ps3.

Not surprising considering Final Fantasy 11 released on PlayStation 2 and 360.

and I definitely see it still getting a PlayStation 3 release but I can understand why anyone would want it for that if they could get it on PlayStation 4. but then again they may not be getting a PlayStation 4 at launch to begin with so.

That means they have less then 4 months to clear the PS3 beta and implement bug fixes.

But they havnt cleared the PS3 beta..

Sony's certification takes 1-2 weeks. It's not a matter of "clearing".

I'm sure an MMO would take more time than the usual 1-2 weeks. Lot more content to look at. If it comes out in the summer that means they have less then 4 months for certification, bug fixes, and server tests for the PS3 version.

Hopefully when they got Sony to come on board and finish the rest of the optimization for the PS3 version it will run smoother. If not, I fear the bad frame rates and possible freezing will prevent me from getting it on PS3, despite waiting three years or so for it's release. I want them to also make it on PS4 personally. I'm sure it would run as good and smooth on PS4 as on PC if it got ported/optimized, (not to mention, the social features of PS4 would complement it very well), but I also know it might not be business wise to do so. If Square does announce a PS4 version, then it would just solidify me getting a PS4 even more.
