The rumors about Radeon HD 7990 being a dual-GPU card consisting of Two Radeon 7970′s Tahiti GPUs eventually became correct. At its prototype stages, it wasn’t even close to what it has eventually became (before release). Radeon HD 7970 was released like almost one and a half year ago and had reasonably good performance. Radeon HD 7970 was based on AMD’s virginal Graphics Core-Next architecture. Radeon HD 7970 was one major opponent of Nvidia Fermi-based GeForce GTX 580. Although, Radeon HD 7970 blew away its fellow card AMD Radeon HD 6970 while competing with GeForce GTX 580.
