Digital Storm's Vanquish Gaming PCs Nearly Eliminate Pre Built Pricing Premium

Maximum PC: One of the beneifts of rolling your own rig is that you can potentially save money versus buying a pre built machine. That isn't always true of bulk OEMs that shovel piles of trialware and other third-party bloat as a way of reducing costs, but more often than not, boutique system builders attach hefty premiums to off-the-shelf parts you can purchase and assemble on your own. Digital Storm is looking to change the game.

I looked into starting my own gaming PC business back in 05. I talked to ATI about selling their video cards in computers and solo. They told me plainly that I would have to by X amount for Y price, the price from them at the time for the best video card ATI had was $49 each. Something that really got me was that I couldn't sell them for under Z price if I ever did they would jerk my licenses.

Boutique System Builders Quick to Pounce on Nvidia's New Graphics Cards

Maximum PC: If you were worried that Nvidia's newly announced graphics cards would amount to a paper launch, don't be. Boutique system builders have already armed themselves with the new GPUs -- GeForce GTX 750, GeForce GTX 750 Ti, and GeForce GTX Titan Black -- and are chomping (or "champing," if you prefer) at the bit to build your next gaming PC using Nvidia's newest hardware.

Micro-Tower Review Roundup

Maximum PC: Ask a civvie what a gaming PC is and they’ll say it's a machine slightly smaller than an HVAC system that breathes fire. That, gentle readers, is no longer the case. Alienware planted the seeds of a revolution with its first X51 by shoehorning a real GPU into a machine the size of a VCR. And in the year-and-change since then, interest in micro-towers has exploded (partly due to the looming Steam Machines, no doubt).
