Miiverse has changed the gaming industry

With the release of the Rayman Legends Challenge App on Wii U this week and news of Earthbound being localized for the west it does appear that Miiverse has changed the industry. Fan feedback got the attention of Nintendo and Ubisoft in these situations and they took action because of fan backlash across the web, especially on Miiverse.

Chat strategies, post pictures, vent about what urks you the most about the Wii U system. With Miiverse being closely monitored, it's no wonder Nintendo hears all our complaints.

PopRocks3594014d ago

Honestly, all it's missing is a screen recording function to capture little moments during your game, akin to Halo's theater mode. I think Miiverse is a really neat idea and really can be a killer app if expanded upon.

FinalomegaS4014d ago

Nintendo! you read this?

Miiverse update it NOW!

Pop, i've taken care of it. Expect it some time 3rd quarter this year.

AJBACK2FRAG4015d ago

Jusr wait until the Miiverse is on a smartphone near you or Ipod or laptop. It's definitely the Wii U's secret killer app. Nintendo fans are so nice, kind and helpful what a breath of fresh air for an anemic and inbred industry.

MyNutsYourChin4015d ago

That will definitely help improve its use and significance.

AJBACK2FRAG4014d ago

I personally think games like Maro Kart U and Super Smash Bros. U are going to make the Miiverse and the Wii U explode.

MyNutsYourChin4015d ago (Edited 4015d ago )

Indeed. It has opened a new door and offers a social potential previously untapped. It has a significant opportunity to bring a multiplayer aspect to single player gaming. It's quite nice. I just wish it was better already. Functionality is still limited and the UI is clean but not very well developed. There are many areas to improve. I just hope it improves and fulfills its potential.

NegativeCreepWA4014d ago

I like the concept, though like most things on the Wii U its done poorly.

I can see Sony and MS taking these type of things to the next level.

R_A_LEE204014d ago (Edited 4014d ago )

Sadly I don't own a Wii U (yet) but I am looking forward to Nintendo bringing Miiverse to the 3DS (which I do own) sometime this year.

Will There Ever Be A New Rayman Game?

Ubisoft barely have a leg to stand on lately, so do they need to crack open the vaults and return platforming royalty to glory for some goodwill?

We need Rayman 4, they could make a great platformer game if they wanted. With the open hub levels and the like.

Better than relying on Rabbids and Assassins Creed all the time

Profchaos50d ago

Yeah agree id love a Rayman 2 style 3d platform game over another 2d platformer I know people loved legends but it never gelled with me same as Rayman 1 back in the day on PS it just felt like a average platformer with sonic and Mario offering something better on what was then last gen hardware

Terry_B51d ago

Yes..but I am sure it won't be the Rayman game fans want. Not from the company that is Ubisoft today.

mastershredder51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Ancel is retired from games. His hoodlum/rabbid team are doing their own thing. It would not be the same if Ubisoft did.

Profchaos50d ago

Probably far more profitable to make low effort Rabbids games aimed at kids over a next Rayman

Chocoburger50d ago

Experience points, skill trees to fill up, level gating, endless menial tasks and side quests, constantly scrounging for resources. Always having to upgrade your gear. A.KA. "The Ubisoft effect".

No thanks, don't ruin Rayman's legacy.

Profchaos50d ago

Sure there will be it'll launch right alongside the next splinter cell

Earthbound Creator Says Nintendo Considered Mother 3 Translation, But It Was Complicated

IGN writes: Mother 3 is one of the most hotly-desired RPGs ever, having never received an official translation in North America despite the cult popularity of its predecessor, Earthbound. But over all these years, series creator Shigesato Itoi has never weighed in on the discussion - at least until now."

Zenzuu139d ago

They should remake Earthbound, and bring it to modern platforms.

meganick138d ago

A translated version of this game on Switch Online would be nice, and it would add a lot value to the Expansion Pak service.

jznrpg138d ago

Bring it already. Nintendo is frustrating at times

jjb1981138d ago

I would love to see an Earthbound game just redone with 3D-ish models and characters. Just having a remaster for Switch Online would be awesome!

FinalFantasyFanatic138d ago

Did you ever see the Earthbound 64 concept/materials? That actually looked really good, but I'd also take a HD-2D remake as well.

FinalFantasyFanatic138d ago

Nintendo seems very whimsical about what they give they're fans, sometimes they'll give them a bone (e.g. Mario RPG, Thousand Year Door for the Switch), and other times, they just give them little to nothing (agh, the Zelda anniversary).

Agent75138d ago

When you consider the cost of gaming back then and even now, no excuses when costs are involved.
