'FIFA' boss wants series to be bigger than 'Call of Duty'

"I respect Konami a lot and they produce good games. A lot of people have played their games for ages," he told MCV. "I think having competition is a good thing but we don't consider competition to just be Pro Evolution Soccer. Call of Duty is also competition.

While there hasn't been a significant change in the look of the game over the last few years (hardware limitations), every new Fifa strives to bring the game experience closer to what we see in real life. The players now have personalities. They're no longer the same models with different faces and improved or lowered stats. This is what the game was like during the last generation. Every player walked, ran, shot, passed the same, but he would do so either better or worse depending on the number in his stats. Now, Lionel Messi feels like Lionel Messi while Cristiano Ronaldo feels like Cristiano Ronaldo. Two completely different players, and EA has been doing a great job improving on this over the last 4 years.

It isn't just about a few new transfers every year. There are real improvements to the gameplay that make it more and more realistic every year. There's no roll over of skill from last year's release to this year's. The new features and changes to the gameplay make for a whole new experience. You have to put in the necessary time to learn and understand everything all over again.

Sit down and play Fifa 10-13 with me and I guarantee you that you will understand why we run out and buy these new releases every year. There's always new and improved features to look forward to. COD has literally been playing the same since COD4. While I still get some fun out of it now and then, with each year I hope and pray that there's change. Something NEW. Last time I felt that way about Fifa was during the ps2 days.

Because Fifa at least makes you want to play football. Whenever my friends and I play FIFA and its a nice day outside, we immediately take the game to the field. A sports game encourages sports, while COD encourages sitting hundreds of hours on the couch getting the best prestige.

This is how it usually begins. The last FIFA I purchased was Fifa 10. That's how it will remain. They both have something in common. They should just release expansions, rather than fully fledge games. Then again... it's EA and Activision.

Oh and, FIFA isn't COD. It never will be. One is a sports game, the other is a FPS. Not to mention, if Konami continue improving PES, you'll have more than attracting COD players to worry about.

PES in the PS2 keep getting better and better every year and in the PS3 era they sit back and watch, used a old PS2 engine and fail big time.. and most move for FIFA are more complete game with more teams and better online options.

PES just start waiting up last year and PES13 got it right, good enough but they understand know they ant just sit and relax..
PES 14 and + will always evolution and be better.. new engines and updated in every field.
Konami has learn their lesson.

Fifa is just like all the madden games. A new one every year with patchable changes and at full price. The only difference is that everyone in EU buys fifa and everyone in US buys madden.

And both are horrible games that take no skill.
