Dragon Quest X Goes Back to “Two New Quests a Week” Routine with The King of Rangao Village

Last week Dragon Quest X received just one new quest instead of the usual two, and some wondered if Square Enix was slowing down development of the game due to the poor sales of the Wii U version. Luckily that wasn’t the case and the development team went back to the “two new quests a week” routine this week.

Periodical episodic content meets MMO? Sounds like a cool concept, especially if it's free.

Abriael4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

@Donnieboi: The game is pay to play. Not gonna get this quick update pace on a free to play game, ever.

Donnieboi4016d ago

I didn't say it was free. I'm just saying that IF it was free, it would be even cooler. I'm actually thinking more about user-generated episodes (which would make it easier to be free) but that's a whole other topic.

Abriael4016d ago

Free to play simply means that the developer has to shift its development philosophy into making users buy as much crap as possible on the cash shop. That tends to conflict with this kind of content updates, especially done often.

Dragon Quest IX had many updates, for a long time, all for free.

Okay it was not an MMO, and the DS capacity for surrounding consoles recognition sure came into handy, but no one ever had to pay anything except the retail price of the game.

Abriael4016d ago (Edited 4016d ago )

Completely different game, completely different size and quality for the updates. Comparing apples to escalators.

Dragon Quest XII is my most anticipated game now.

i really hope to correct the music(or at least its repetitiveness) ...ooh man the game was very good but the continiuous music so damn annoying i couldnt stand it ..it was ruining the whole game

pecorre1058d ago

The music was horrible in DQ 11. It's the only time in my near 30 year of gaming that I turned the music off in a game.

Elda1058d ago

LOL! While playing DQXI I had to turn the music off as well because it was too repetitive & annoying.

I wish they’d rerelease DQVIII on consoles. They could also try localizing DQX offline

It’s nice to see this series embracing worldwide releases now

It’s funny to see DQXII boasting that the choices the player makes will matter considering how things have always been up this point

That Octopath Traveler style DQ 3 remake looks pretty good. Here is to hoping Square uses that for other franchises (*cough cough* Final Fantasy 6)

NecrumOddBoy1058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

*Cough* FFVI and Chrono Trigger

Good for square Enix. It seems 2020 was a great year for everyone in gaming and even with the avengers fiasco, they still made record profit.
