The Bin: Manhunt

Hardcore Gamer: Manhunt can be seen to be a much deeper game than many perceive it to be and if it was any other medium, it would be called art.

+Bubbles it's still the best single player experience I have ever had and I don't think that will change. It was so intense and nerve racking, I loved every second of Manhunt. Sad we won't get a 3rd because of all the bad publicity from the whiners...

Derekvinyard134018d ago

Agree, glad to see some people still give this game the credit it deserves

maniacmayhem4017d ago

Love this game, a reboot of this game with the same play mechanics of the the 1st would be great.

MASTER_RAIDEN4017d ago

This game will forever be a classic. in spite of the negative press it got for the over the top violence, it really is one of the strongest games rockstar has ever produced. truly has all the tools to be ss big as their GTA series. one of the BIGGEST shames in gaming history is to see this series die out quietly because of such close minded individuals. the sequel to this game was a ridiculous attempt to shut up the hardcore fans who were dying for a 2nd game.

if theirs any justice in the world of gaming, A proper continuation of the manhunt series will eventually surface. the thing about manhunt that no one admits is that it is a MUCHHHH less volatile game than the gta series. see because when you play manhunt, youre aware that the object of the game is horrendous violence. its difficult for you to play. what makes GTA so dangerous is the fact that the violence, sex and drug selling in the game is made to be no big deal. games like manhunt make you see how horrific violence can be while games like gta desensitize you to it.

Bathyj4017d ago

Very well said. Bubble.

And I agree about the violence. They make the killing shocking, as it would be in real life, and people get all uptight, where as a movie like Private Ryan gets hailed as brilliantly realistic, but a game that makes killing out to be no big deal, which by extension could make real killing seems like no big deal, (in certain twisted minds) is fine. Gta got its fair share of flack, but that was mainly for teaching us you could rob hookers and no where near the point that manhunt did.

Again, well said.

MASTER_RAIDEN4017d ago

Exactly.
one game illustrates the horror and intensity of such grotesque violence, while the another game normalizes it.
Im not necessarily saying that GTA should be censored, not by any means. im only saying its definitely something of an injustice that the GTA series catches flack, but is still one of the highest selling games of all time, yet a new manhunt game is a ridiculous request.

LOL_WUT4017d ago

Still own both games my all time favorites from Rockstar. Hope we could one day see a new Manhunt game on next-gen consoles.

L6RD7BLU34017d ago

I agree but I sure wish it doesn't get censored like Manhunt 2. Some people just need to calm down and accept the fact that it's just a GAME! *sigh*

Klonopin4017d ago

They released an uncensored version for PC.

Seven Games I Would Love to See Remade, Remastered, or at Least Re-Released

Some games of yesteryear were just ahead of their time. So Half-Glass Gaming takes a moment to wax poetically about some favorites from a bygone era and whip up a list of games we would love to see remakes of.

Had a lot of fun with Scarface. That was around the peak of GTA clones. The amount of them has decreased substantially.

roadkillers826d ago (Edited 826d ago )

I agree, the side jobs of selling drugs was a blast.

porkChop826d ago

GTA 4 actually got some of the ideas for the new wanted system from Scarface.

-Foxtrot826d ago

Beyond Good and Evil would be fantastic

Simpsons Hit and Run, expanded with new areas from the newer seasons and with all the hubs joining on from one another to make one massive open world game

Bugs Bunny Lost in Time / Bugs Bunny and Taz: Time Busters

Sheep, Dog n Wolf (Sheep Raider)

Toy Story 2

Legend of Dragoon

Some of my "out there" picks anyway...

isarai826d ago

Ape Escape series
B.L.A.C.K.
Path of Neo
Max Payne trilogy (or at least 1&2) BY ANYONE OTHER THAN GROVESTREET GAME FFS!
Oasis
Rise of the Argonauts
Killzone 2
F.E.A.R.

Just off the top of my head

Profchaos825d ago

Yup max Payne 1 by Grove St games would be the mobile version they did which dropped the difficulty to none existant just in 4k unfortunately.

FPS_D3TH826d ago

I would’ve added stalker but were thankfully getting a sequel soon. This would be my list

FEAR
Max Payne 1 & 2
Blood
Freedom Fighters
Syphon Filter
Dino Crisis

Eidolon826d ago

Dino Crisis Remake, hell yeah. Like RE2/3 remake would be great.

Eidolon826d ago

PC has Mods, Xbox Series X has (4K?)/60fps. For consoles this would probably come down to deeper visual quality and quality of life improvements in one package, like the treatment Mass Effect trilogy got.

Yui_Suzumiya826d ago

I want it specifically on Switch though.. now later this year I plan on getting a Series X and I'll enjoy it there as well. My main problem is the fact that Bethesda has re-released Skyrim on nearly every console for 3 generations yet they haven't done anything with Fallout 3 or New Vegas. Those are just as popular as Skyrim so why haven't they been Remastered for all the current or even last gen consoles yet? I feel like us Fallout fans are getting the short end of the stick here.

10 Popular Banned Video Games and Why They Were Banned

Xfire writes "As you'll soon learn, while it is true that some popular banned video games do at least warrant the censorship or ban they received, some games were banned from sale for some pretty weird and radical reasons."

gold_drake1130d ago

i dont get censorship in games.
they have warnings on the boxings, age ratings, drug use warnings, strong language and sexual themes and many more.

its not so much the government's job to censor, as it is for parents to make sure their kids dont play those games. and those who are easily disturbed or sensitive, should stay away from them.
i do understand that some things might be triggering for some but.... why do ppl suck so much lol.

but being in debt before 18 or 21 is highly acceptable somehow ha

seriously.

Highrevz1130d ago

I’m glad there’s not much censorship in the UK towards video games. Reading bully was banned confused me as i don’t recall that at all.

Nintendo has always been bashed for its censorship (green blood in MK controversy) and then they gave us some dark moments like Crocomire’s death in Super Metroid and even let us strangle people to death with the Wii controller. It’s like they have tried at times but there image is very much Cemented as family friendly so I don’t think they will ever be able to stray far from that.

I remember my mom coming home from work with a copy of Thrill Kill and saying “I heard this games banned so I got you a copy” 🙌
Honestly the game wasn’t even that bad, there’s far worse content in books and movies.

Fist4achin1130d ago

Thrill kill at the time was edgy, but there has been much worse. Fun times with Imp the pimp!

darklaw1130d ago

honestly, its up to the parents and the players on what kind of experience they want to have, not the publisher.

Spookytacular 2020: 10 of the Best Horror Games of All Time

GameCrate: "Horror in games has evolved massively throughout the decades. What was once considered scary — Friday the 13th on NES — is tame by today’s standards. And the foundations set for modern horror — Resident Evil and Silent Hill on PS1 — have led to incredible shifts in the genre. Because it evolves so drastically and branches out into several sub-genres, it’s impossible to narrow horror games’ hallowed grounds to just one title.

As Halloween draws near and GameCrate’s Spookytacular 2020 celebrations come to a close, we’re taking a look at 10 of the best horror games of all time. Note: These aren’t by any means the definitive best of the best, but we’d like to think they’re up there. Don’t see your favorites on the list? Let us know which horror games resonate with you the most in the comments!"

My personal favorites are Silent Hill 4, Outlast series, the original Condemned, Amnesia, Resident Evil 2 remake, Clive Barker's Undying, Alien: Isolation, STALKER (not really a horror game, but the few horror elements are highly intense), and Dead Space 2.

I'm not easily frightened, but the games I listed are the ones I remember becoming really stressful and unnerving to me, making me anxious to enter that room, or turn that corner. So they all definitely did their job.
