Battlefield 4 - What we know so far

Battlefield 4 is due out in the last quarter of this year (the shortest odds are currently in October, Battlefield’s usual release month) and if it’s half the game that EA are talking it up to be, then it’ll be a cracker. Of course, don’t forget that EA talked up BF3 a lot (which had excellent multiplayer, but a forgettable campaign). This go-around, however, it looks like they’ve learned from that experience and have been shaping something substantially more engaging for the next instalment in the venerable series.

Totally disagree - plenty of issues with PC, and I'm looking forward to it on console. Reckon there's every chance it'll be a great multiplayer game on all systems. Am in 'wait and see' mode on singleplayer though, after BF3's somewhat disappointing effort.

i can only go by history here. BF3 is terrible on console, but on PC it's brilliant. may as well not even share the same name across the platforms.

without doubt BF4 will be awful on console as BF3 is, as the present consoles simply aren't up to spec.

right now, console gamers are better off playing games that are made for &/or optimised for console (ie. CALL OF DUTY), instead of badly ported PC games, released on console just to get the easy dollars.

No, just no.

I don't know how it is for pc (only played the pc beta for about 20 minutes), but it is most certainly not "awful" in ANY sense of the word.

The game looks good on consoles (not amazing, but good), it plays good and is in my opinion, the best military online fps on consoles to date.

Perhaps you haven't played it on consoles, or have not played very much of it, or you're just a troll, but Battlefield 3 is an amazingly fun mp fps, be it on PC OR consoles.

yea i had a punkbuster issue with my pc version of bf3 for months, and just got i fixed but i cant be bother with it since my console version has more stuff and has not had a hiccup since launch.

which is why i like consoles if i buy a game its going to work, and dont have to worry about certain programs blocking others and what not

Exactly Trenso - while on a good rig (noting that many PC rigs used for gamer are no more capable than current-gen consoles) BF3 will clearly outshine PS3 or 360 versions, there's often extra work getting PC games to run (and then there's Origin...), wheras on console it normally just works.

At the end of the day, hopefully it will be a great game on both platforms.

Saying "Horrible" is a huge stretch. Is the PC version the best? Yes. Does that make the console versions horrible? Hell no.

I played Battlefield 3 for over 600 hours on PS3. Felt pretty amazing to me.

Well said Reverent, yes the PC version has more bells and whistles, more players, and runs smoother and prettier if you have the rig for it, but BF3 on console is a lot of fun as well. These PC elitists......

had the PC version been non-existent, i still would've found the shortcomings in BF3 too great to continue play it.

obviously everyone will have differing opinions. but BF3 simply doesn't feel like a polished, current day release. it feels like a game that would've come out in the early days on PS3, or even just a beta.

If you played the PC version you'd understand why the console version is horrible. When consoles are you're only option, of course you're going to think it's not horrible. You don't know what your missing.

I put close to 100 hours into the 360 version. Got a gaming PC, got BF3 again. Trying to go back to the 360 version is a joke. It's horrible.

@xPhearR3dx, the funny thing about that is... Yeah, I'm a pretty avid PC gamer. In fact, lately, I've been gaming mostly on my laptop (I'm constantly moving around so I rarely have access to my PS3) and I play Battlefield 3 pretty extensively on it. Even though my Laptop can't run it on Ultra (I can still run it on High), I still get to experience the bigger maps and 64 player counts.

I STILL think the PS3 version is amazing. The problem is, you PC Elitists are too far up your asses to realize fun can be had else where.

i cant see the current consoles playing the next gen games like BF4 very well, i am looking foward to this game very much and i expect it shall be a beautiful game to play on the PC, maybe the next gen consoles will handle it ok

BF4 will suck like Battlefield 3 and the previous Medal of Honor games. And to top it off, I'm estimating about 95% of the people here who loves to hate EA will be hypocrites by buying Battlefield 4.

The ps4 version should be much closer to the pc version( compared to the last bf3 on pc compared to ps3) but i can tell you it will be 30fps and might by 1080p if lucky...

Try playing PC and altering the FOV and then going back to console with their set FOV of about 65 or so. There's not much to complain about the PC because it's so beautiful, plus I can't complain about the additional 40 player count.

I just hope they can figure out a way to accomodate the map size to the amount of players on consoles.

I have the game on both Console and PC. I play on Console more. It's more fun.

Half life and Half life 2 were single player games - I'd say BF4's multiplayer will have the distinct edge on them ;). Not sure about Counterstrike or BF2, but we won't know until it launches.

How about bringing back the commander? I was pissed when I found out they left it out of BF3.

They need to make it more like the old BF games, BF2, 42 etc.

The controls felt too clunky on BF3 but still playable.
