With Riot Games in the midst of Season Three of its League of Legends Championship Series, Team SoloMid (TSM) is in the hunt for the big prize. The pro gaming team was at sponsor Qualcomm’s booth during GDC 2013 in San Francisco to check out the latest Snapdragon gaming technology. Qualcom has banked on the success that TSM Snapdragon has had in eSports in an attempt to expose its brand to the huge number of gamers who watch live tournaments like Major League Gaming (MLG) and European Sports League (ESL) as well as streams through outlets like Twitch and CBS Interactive.
TSM has a growing global fan base thanks in part to its new reality online show, GameCrib, which runs on CBS Interactive’s Gamespot. After taking time to sign autographs with eSports fans, Andy “Reginald” Dinh talked about the growth of eSports, the importance of live streaming and why StarCraft II fans are “jealous” of the success Riot Games is having in competitive gaming in this exclusive interview.
Do you remember the League of Legends MMORPG previously teased by Riot Games? Its development has been fully rebooted and it'll take "likely several years" before you hear any more news about it.
Marc Merrill, co-founder of Riot Games, provided an update today on the company’s in-development MMO project, addressing the community’s anticipation and ongoing support. Through a series of tweets, Merrill assured fans that the project is actively being worked on, while also sharing news of a significant change in its development direction.
Riot Games cancels Riot Esports Network, refocusing on Valorant and other core projects. Discover the reasons behind this strategic shift.
Team SoloMid is always good for a quote, which is what eSports needs more of.
Its allot less stressful to play LoL than it is to Play SC2,
I love the trash talking between franchises. Andy makes some good points when comparing League of Legends to games like StarCraft, Halo & Counterstrike.
Wait.....*fans* are jealous of another game's success?
This guy doesnt really understand that just because he loves one game it doesnt mean everybody else loves that game. I prefer starcraft 2 than League of Legends. Some games I like I can guarantee others wont like them too. We are all different.
