Five PlayStation One Classic JRPGs That Still Need A PSN Release

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment has been released on PlayStation Network, and the JRPG world is still recovering from the shock. One of the most sought after and rare games on the console is now available at the touch of a button for a mere $10. Fortunately for this lost classic, the series saw a resurgence over the last few years thanks to Atlus stepping up their game or else we might have never seen this one get a long overdue second chance on the market.

What about those poor souls who might never get a second chance? With Nintendo poised to reclaim the genre Sony stole from them back in the first PlayStation days and the future of JRPGs on HD consoles way up in the air at the moment, Sony might have to turn to nostalgia to keep their ever loosening grip on Japan’s most popular video game pastime.

Actually, ATLUS needs to translate and release the PSP remake of Eternal Punishment. It was released in Japan a bit ago and yeah, I know PSP is dead here, but it could find some sales on the PSN store.

And Suikoden II? Yes, yes, and yes. An amazing game, probably my favorite PS1 RPG, and easily one of the best RPGs ever, especially if you like old-school RPGs. Getting a physical copy is so expensive but I'm glad I have mine. More people should be able to play this game.

Is the PSP enhanced port not available on the Vita store?

Edit: Hm, yeah it doesn't seem to be on there, at least on the Japanese store. Dunno about the NA/EU stores though.

Strider 2, do it Capcom! So many classics on the PS1 tbh, but good list nonetheless

I never got around to mass effect - I’m skeptical that it would hold up if I were to try it now

I would say it does. The combat is a bit shit for todays standards but everything else is great.

It's worth a play through today.

Still have my ps3 copies. Bought it at launch and another one when I found it cheap and in perfect condition about 10 years ago. I wouldn’t buy it on Switch but if they made a PS5 version I would. I still have one of my PS3 Fats hooked up so good to go either way.

Id play it again on the switch. I wished my 360 version was bc but this is still a good way to play.
