Starcraft 2 On The Wii U: Bringing Strategy To Nintendoland

With Diablo 3 heading to Sony HQ, perhaps Blizzard should be looking at Nintendoland next and get Starcraft 2 on the Wii U.

Stop getting our hopes up with such a blatantly unrealistic proposition. Everybody knows the costs for implementing this game on Wii U would be too risky for Blizzard. Sure, it's ideal for strategy games, but that doesn't mean the market is there.

stragomccloud4041d ago

Agreed. And it's not just Wii U. The market just isn't there for consoles.

joab7774041d ago

Agreed. Can u imagine an esports tourny in which everyone was playing HotS on the wiiU? Anyway I feel bad because black ops kinda ruined it for other hardcore games. They made it and no one bought it.

The touch screen can interface as a "mouse". And the buttons can be used for additional actions.

It's far closer to what a K/B setup is.
The reason there is no market is because of (traditional)gamepads in general just don't make up for fast action input. With the Wii-U that doesn't have to be the case.

If EA ( and I hate them so much ) releases a C&C pack for the WiiU I would get it in an instance.

@sidar
That's true. Compared to PS4, Xbox 360, and PS3, the Wii U is the only console that could actually make such a game feasible.

I think it might be cool so see them try to make an RTS on the Wii U.

I was happy to hear that Blizzard was bringing Diablo 3 to Sony consoles which was definitely a solid business decision for both parties. However I think a Wii U port could have even more potential with proper use of Gamepad. I would love to see this eventually happen although I'm not getting my hopes up.

stragomccloud4041d ago

True. A Diablo port would make sense.
But... RTSs don't really belong on consoles unless you can use a keyboard and mouse.

SC2 would b so awesome on wiiu and a day one purchase for me. Infact im a go an play the original sc/brood wars expansion right now on my N64. and if the N64 can play tht, it b nice to see SC2 on wiiu

i always believed the gamepad would be great for strategy games... although at this point, i doubt Blizzard would even consider this (hey, it took eons for Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 to be released even on its home platform, the PC) -- so the delay Blizzard in bringing these games out, may also be the main hindrance.

the article's points about Wii U being good for Starcraft 2 is indeed promising; the only real question is, if Blizzard would be willing to invest -- admittingly that alone give me serious doubts that this could happen, well not anytime soon, i guess.

on the other hand, it also raises the point again, of the Wii U being a good platform for strategy games. and i'm hoping the announced Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem would prove that, and Pikmin 3 would also showcase that. a whole new generation of strategy games on the Wii U may arise.

Starcraft isnt too great on touchpad. No offense to the wii-U gamepad, but its not precise enough. At least for anyone Past silver league.

lilbroRx4041d ago (Edited 4041d ago )

Not precise enough? The Wii U gamepad is almost needle point precise. I say almost because I haven't actually poked my screen with a needle to test it and don't plan to.

ninjahunter4041d ago

I said that because the units would actually be smaller than your fingers. Not to mention that selecting units would cause you to cover several important areas of the screen. The wii-u could have the most pixel perfect precision in the world, and you could have the smallest hands in your city, but it still wouldnt be good enough to micro properly.

You do know that the Wii U Gamepad primarily uses a stylus right?

i think these articles are misleading. wings of liberty is literally dead. so is heart of the swarm. Blizzard moved everything over to Legacy of the Void. if someone can let me know how to play wings of liberty or HOTS, let me know.
