Diablo 3 PS3 - 8 things you need to know

GamesRadar - Blizzard's Diablo 3 finally came to PCs in 2012, and after years of rumors, the game is heading to consoles, too. It's not some half-baked port, either--it'll include all the hellfire, brimstone, and addictive action RPG gameplay of the original PC version.

Why is it the "Eight Things You Need to Know" are on eleven pages?

Or rather, why does each paragraph in the article require its own page, plus one?

Gamesradar is notorious for this, they always put their lists on multiple pages. you think they'd be above fishing for hits, but I guess not.

The 8 things you need to know:

1. movement is smooth
2. The flow is different
3. You can dodge
4. local 4-player multiplayer
5. The camera's pulled in
6. good loot is easier to find
7. No more auction house, no more always-online
8. Menus have been optimized for console

There. Now people don't need to click on 8 pictures.

Well, I think I've come upon a fact about the console version of Diablo 3 that is the first thing to make me question buying this game when it releases for PS3. Everything seems fantastic aside from this one thing, but it may be enough to spoil the game for me....and perhaps alot of console gamers like myself who love this genre.

Dodge is on the right stick. (they said movement is on the right stick first, but I think the author meant left stick there). Now while I don't mind at all this genre getting a "dodge", and it even being on the right stick isn't too bad, especially for the PS fanbase since that's how we dodge on God of War....BUT..... if dodge is on the right stick, and they've shown what all the rest of the buttons do as well......that means that the game's got a fixed camera that can't be rotated and zoomed with the right stick.

That's a bit of an issue, and probably a bigger one than most might think. These games are just not as fun to play with a fixed camera. It's llike Dungeon Hunter Alliance. I bought that game for PS3 the day it came out, and was really looking forward to it because of the severe lack of the genre this gen, but I couldn't play my character beyond like Lvl 16 or so because the game just doesn't feel right without being able to orient the camera to where you want it. It seems small, but it's a big thing for me.

Hopefully this gets changed a bit (maybe to hold block then right stick to dodge) before release. The first time these guys post on the PSblog, I'll be bringing up this concern to them.

I simply can't be bothered to read paragraphs that long. Any way they could break it up into 20-24 pages instead of just 11? I really want to have to click my mouse a few more times to read what they have to say.

Most important thing to know... when is it going to be released ?

Bimkoblerutso4048d ago

They're shooting for this year, so....2018?

TopDudeMan4048d ago

Surely they'd have to make the loot MUCH better to support the lack of an auction house?

telekineticmantis4048d ago

except it's not on Vita. If that's possible please! please! please!

Pull the camera out not in

ATi_Elite4047d ago

PS3 lacks the power to pull the camera out.

That would require more rendered scenery and A.I. and cause issues on a limited system if they pulled the camera out.

Just glancing at the screens Blizzard has made a lot of cuts from the PC version

I wonder if this is the reason Warrior's Lair PS3/Vita fell off.

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein82d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Palitera391d ago

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33391d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.
