GTA 5 vs. Watch Dogs: 'There's space for more than one great game in this world'

"Watch Dogs" is looking to be one of the top franchises in gaming, and Ubisoft's development team more than believes they have another great series on their hands.

In an exclusive interview with Examiner.com today, Jonathan Morin, who is the creative director on "Watch Dogs," talked about why gamers should be looking forward to "Watch Dogs" this coming holiday season.

He was also asked about why gamers should choose Watch Dogs over the upcoming game Grand Theft Auto 5, especially if gamers are strapped for cash.

true... Two top free roaming games and the biggest two in years

Conzul4049d ago

Hopefully they can eclipse the stagnation of Assassin's Creed.

Blaze9294049d ago (Edited 4049d ago )

I'm sorry, why and how are we putting Watch Dogs and GTA against each other? Two completely different games?

...oh, Examiner.

Like saying, "He was also asked about why gamers should choose Gran Turismo over the upcoming game Mario Kart, especially if gamers are strapped for cash."

I never once thought of GTA when watching Watch Dogs gameplay nor have I ever thought of Watch Dogs reading up about GTAV info.

yeahokchief4049d ago

don't even try to compare some yearly ubisoft crap to a rockstar game.

Derekvinyard134049d ago

We really need to see more about these games

soundslike4049d ago

I disagree. I've seen enough to know they're both going to be worth playing and I'd rather not get overwhelmed with pre-release details that spoil little surprises peppered through out games.

Pretty sure he meant you can't make judgments based on little to no information.

In other words you can't objectively say which is better without more info. Especially with Watch Dogs. GTA has an established formula, WD is a new IP.

But I thought...
"There could be ONLY One"?

Exactly,
While it is fun to compare and contrast, we have to be careful not to take it too far.

Taking it too far can lead to clones, where people think they can be just as good or copy and add just one new concept.

GTA and WatchDogs are going to have distinct ways to interact with the world and distinct objectives driven by the narrative.

Let them be themselves and thank them (as a consumer who can get bored) for being so...
(although, Haters gonna Hate)

Pushagree4049d ago

Another GTA clone. You can't beat the original.

Conzul4049d ago

There's room for both.
GTA is lighthearted and indulgent.
WD is dark, gritty, and realistic.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing699h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming
