Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows preview - first look at their XBLA rebirth | OXM

OXM: "Outside of references in the likes of Borderlands 2 and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Xbox history has been spotty, consisting of two so-so delisted XBLA games, and a substandard movie tie-in good for little more than a quick 1000 Gamerscore. So, you can imagine our trepidation right before checking out Red Fly Games’ take on Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fortunately, our first look at Out of the Shadows has us more excited than we’ve been for a turtle-related game in quite some time."

The graphics look good, but I'm just wondering about the gameplay.

solidt124050d ago

Why do their faces look like Goombas off of the Mario Bro's movie?

Tuxmask554050d ago

The Turtles aren't aliens in this game like they're supposed to be in the upcoming movie, are they?

Completely badass, can't wait for this:)

Pay attention to last screen of the video under the logo. And I felt they dropped the ball with Reshelled. But thank GOD we're finally past the Smash Bros. phase.

Since it's not just Spider-man, it may not be a simple case of franchise rights moving to another publisher. Fast and the Furious and TMNT aren't owned by Marvel/ Disney.

Activision may simply be trying to push away from licensed franchise products

gamer78042666d ago (Edited 2666d ago )

also the 2 worst ninja turtles games ever made, the recent nickelodeon games, atleast those had some of the charm of the tv series and old style tmnt games.

Spider man taking down because of the new one. These taken down because they are utter garbage.

lodossrage2666d ago

Spider-man isn't being taken down because of the new one coming up. It's being taken down because just like TMNT and Fast & Furious, they are no longer willing to pay the digital licenses on most of their franchise products.

And nothing of value was lost

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows Review (PS3) | Metal Arcade

Metal Arcade: Jason Bakker writes:

As a TMNT fan since childhood, I was in the minority of those who enjoyed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows when it released last August for PC and Xbox 360. PS3 players have been waiting an extremely long time for the PSN version to release with no real updates – so long, in fact, that many believed the game was cancelled. Booting up my PlayStation 3 review copy after all this time felt a bit surreal, but when the awesome menu screen popped up, with the Turtles in their iconic poses from the first issue of the comic book, I was amped up to play through it again. There are definitely some problems here — including a practically unplayable online mode — but overall the game nails the TMNT vibe and backs it up with fun combat.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (PS3) Review - Push Square

Push Square: "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows falls frustratingly short of its full potential. As a consequence, this is a completely mediocre brawler, which fails to do anything especially interesting with its parent property. This PS3 port may be more stable than its counterparts, but that doesn’t redeem its archaic gameplay and bland visuals."
