Nintendo products in general are very well made to resist damage. Kids don't treat consoles or handhelds w/ very much love, so it's smart on their part.

I like the video of him taking a sledgehammer to his Wii U. Basically, my kids are the equivalent of that sledgehammer, so if Nintendo products weren't made tough I wouldn't be able to keep my gaming stuff for more than a few hours.

Nintendo has always made sturdy hardware. My Gamecube fell off the top of my dad's SUV (I set it on the roof and forgot about it) when I was a kid, and all it did was knock a gear loose -- after falling off mid-transit at about 30 mph and rolling off into a ditch on the side of the road. Opened it up and popped it back into place and it worked fine ever since. My Wii has also fallen on concrete twice and the only thing that messed up was the Eject button; just have to press it harder for it to work. :P

I do now, just not when I was younger. I guess that's the reason Nintendo makes stuff to last. Kids have a tendency to be careless. xD

The thing that was great about the N64, and NES and Snes was no moving parts! The only thing that could go wrong is sometimes the pins rust.

Strange things we do, strange things. Not strange enough to not watch though, I used to watch this guy on youtube who smashed stuff, mostly video game consoles. Sure, it was weird but none the less entertaining. Such a shame he stopped smashing stuff.

GameCube was the most durable console ever. Very compact. Sega Saturn was a beast too.

Gamecube was known to be the Nokia phones of the consoles. That thing can't break.

Yea so they can make a slimmer revision of the game pad a year later lol and its a home console so durability isnt a big deal. No to be a Debbie downer

Nintendo hardware was always nigh unbreakable. I've seen both a N64 and a Gamecube take a rough tumble down a staircase and both still worked fine.

Hell my Gameboy Color still works perfectly after years of abuse. Meanwhile if I dropped my PSP 1 foot it exploded, disk tray popped open and the UMD flew out, battery and the back panel flew off.

My DS Phat was probably the most durable system I've ever owned. I bought it used about 5 years ago, so I don't know how old it is, but damn that thing took hits like a champ. I've dropped the thing numerous times, and it always came out well. It eventually did break a bit, but even then it took dropping it on a hardwood floor from chest level, squarely on one of the hinges.

It went downhill from there(The top screen's color is messed up), but it still works just fine for GBA stuff. Battery is shot, but that's normal for something that old.

So yeah, Nintendo develops awesome hardware in that way.
