DMC is a pretty great game as far as I can tell from my playing of it. Excellent art design, great surreal levels, interesting enemy creatures, a kind of gritty comic book style that reminds me of spawn and borderlands, and awesome music that fits right in with the gameplay.

I can definitely see why it got rated so high by reviewers, and definitely can not see why it's been selling so poorly.

I really don't think platinum could do a better job, revengence seems to be lacking in all the areas I listed above. Not seriously lacking just not at the same level of goodness that dmc has.

Because Platinum took a SCRAPPED project and revived it just enough production values for 2 years. DmC on the other hand already have a BASE formula where it can build upon whereas Rising MUST have the Zandatsu element implemented. This surely limited their capacity of taking more creative risks.

On the bright side, it is a polished game for an idea that Hideo himself could not bring into fruitation.

I'm not sure why everyone is disagreeing I have played through once, and while I was disappointed in the announcement of the reboot, it was actually handled very well, not from a pr standpoint but seriously it is a very solid game. It was very engaging and i dont think any serious dmc fan would be disappointed at all (other than having to adjust to the small tweaks in the button configuration. You leave the game feeling as if they just started from the beginning, like it was before the third entry. If it makes you nervous just wait till it goes down in price.

Great news for Ni No Kuni, its developers, its publisher and its fans. Hopefully we can have more games like it in the future as well. Heavenly Sword was a good game, not the best, but thats why everyone wants a sequel because the base was already established and all they can do is make things bigger and better from there. Its funny when you think about it, Heavenly Sword was the only Ninja Theory game that has made a profit for them and it was a PS3 exclusive out a year after the PS3 launched (2007) when the PS3 did not have the biggest instal base at all. Ninja Theory had even turned down an offer by Sony to make a second game after Sony bought the IP name with the reason being they want to make multiplatform games (which at the time is what everyone did just to have the most potential buyers and make the most money they can which is understandable) and in the end the 2 multiplatform games they made most likely had a bigger budget than Heavenly Sword and flopped very bad (Enslaved and DmC). I would like to see a Heavenly Sword 2 myself, but I think I prefer Santa Monica working on it seeing how Ninja Theory is very "We're gonna make the game we want to make and thats that". Also hope DmC flopping is the return of the original DMC, even if it would be the last one to fill up all the questions and story holes left by DMC 4 (next gen would be amazing for it too).

The thing most core fans don't like is that the combo system has been trivialized. Simplified so its more accessible to a wider audience who aren't going to stick around and get into a deeper combat system - because it just isn't there.

The biggest problem is that it felt they worked their mouths harder than the game itself. If they just shut up and created the game, I guaranteed the sales would have been much higher than it is now but when it gets right down to it, it was a reboot no one wanted. According to most DmC was a great game just not what ppl wanted. Its kinda funny how tomb raider rebooted with somethjng entirely different and has met critical acclaim and good sales. Maybe it is the franchise, the timing and the industry saturation. It doesnt help that the core base wrote it off before it even launched. It's partly the fact that Tomb Raider is a shooter (3rd-person cover-based shooter), and that sells more than a hack-and-slash beat-em-up. It's also partly the fact that Tomb Raider heavily invested in a gritty, story and character-driven adventure in the vein of Uncharted, and Uncharted is in-vogue right now.

It's also partly the fact that maybe--just maybe--Crystal Dynamics simply did a better job of making a game--a very good game--that resonates with gamers on a financial and sales basis.

I give more respect to Square-Enix for letting Crystal Dynamics--the pre-existing developers for the Tomb Raider series--handle the reboot, as opposed to Capcom completely pawning off the DMC series onto a developer that has NOTHING and NEVER had anything to do with the franchise.

More power to you I suppose, though its a much greater loss for people who don't approve of the new direction of the franchise since they made it what it was in the first place (Bear in mind that people call DMC2 a terrible game, yet that terrible game still sold 1.4 million copies as stated by Capcom in 2003 [which was the year it was released] and it shipped 1.7 million copies as of 2006).

The biggest issue was with the story itself and the characters, both looks and personality. Hopefully this doesn't affect Ninja Theory too much. It's great to hear Ni No Kuni selling well in the state, especially a jrpg game, a genre that is missing this gen.

Did anyone notice at the Playstation Meeting last Feb. when they show a video about developers opinion of the PS4, one of Ninja Theory developer was in the video? Maybe Heavenly Swords 2 for the PS4?

DmC is a bad game, story sucks, it feels like a DMC1 story but even worst, bosses are cake walk, its so easy that i finished it on hard the first playthrough, and dante is a generic douche, and instead of Trish we get kat -___-
The only good thing about this game is the combat, and it gets boring pretty fast, and no, the level design was great until it starts to cause headaches.
Glad to see people not buying it, and i'm glad that i bought MGR over this crap.

oh and also worse PR I have ever seen for a game. The devs were strait up rude towards the fans of the old game on several occasions in and out of the game....to be honest just for how they handled themselves, I probably won't be buying a game from Ninja Theory for a while

Not to say I'm surprised by this. Ni no Kuni and Metal Gear Rising were better games, imo. I had more fun playing metal Gear Rising than I did with DMC.

sorry Ninja theory. nobody buys games like this at $60. this isnt 2002 where you can get away with charging $50 for single player only games.

If it came out at $40 i would have bought it instead of renting it and beating it......and im pretty sure charging $40 would have added atleast 40,000 more sales.

I think the sales were hampered by changing Dante's look and personality. This game is great....but yesterdays gamers dont feel this. Sadly, this generation of gamers are nothing more than camping, kill death ratio, fps chumps. (Dont even get me started on how cod destroyed fps fun.)

this dmc reboot was watered down and the people who liked it are the same dudes who play halo and cod all day. the dont understand what a quality game is because they havent played one in so long so anything outside the usual cod and halo stuff they automatically say is awesome because its better then what they been playing for the last 5 years but not by much. im glad this game sold bad because it was worse then the other games and glad ni no kuni so good because it was a good game.

more people might buy this new dmc reboot if people would stop trying to defend it and say its better then the past games because thats just not true. just stop acting like it was the right thing for capcom to do to the franchise and people might buy it. I just dont get some of you people trying to fight a losing battle for no reason. say it was ok but they should of stayed with the old style as far as gameplay. dont give me this crap about it was super awesome and ground breaking experience bs.

I really & truly enjoyed DmC as I have enjoyed the past DMC games except DMC 4,I don't own an XBOX so I've never played Halo nor do I play CoD games,imo DmC was better than DMC 4,I will give Capcom credit for trying to do something different with the franchise because DMC 4 was BORING & DmC was an enjoyable experience.

the demo seemed cool i liked it but again being who the dEV is ill wait and buy used for 20 bucks i would however be forced to pay 60 for a heavenly sword 2 because part one was amazing to me just like im waiting for lost oddessy 2 and especially waiting for ff 7 remake

That's what happens when you reboot the series when there was nothing wrong with it. And have it developed by a company nobody likes. Plus the insults and Android 17 arrogance from Tameem only added more fuel to the fire.
