Samsung prototype wireless game pad hands-on

We just wrapped up the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and, while the hardware of the phone itself held few surprises, this accessory did. Samsung doesn't have a formal name for it just yet, but this concept device is expected to launch sometime this summer. It's basically a first-party Bluetooth controller with a full complement of face buttons, dual analog sticks, a D-pad and even shoulder buttons on the back. It's powered by dual AAA batteries and connects wirelessly, the phone held in place by an expanding clamp up top that looks plenty big enough to support a Note II (we tried, it fit fine) and maybe even something like the Note 8.0!

sell that accessory for cheap, and watch it fly off the shelves.

I always said that i would take mobile gaming seriously if the phone had a first party gamepad.

Reminds me of the smartphone battery charger by Anker, which I highly recommend.

I notice they copied the best set up for the analogs and buttons.

I'm not impressed with S4. Think I'm going to get the Sony Xperia Z.

The dual camera and s voice translator was cool but everything else was just not needed and just unnecessary for a smartphone.

I heard the Z has some angle viewing issues, maybe because of the pre applied screen protector.

The first console to make green, blue, red and yellow buttons and the dpad below the analog stick was SEGA Dreamcast.

Xbox simply copied from Dreamcast.

Good_Guy_Jamal4051d ago

What does that have to do with this? Just look at the analogue stick placement and the freaking dpad too! Plus the dreamcast letters and colours do not correspond to this controller, this is an xbox controller. Why are you fighting?

unless games are designed to specifically use controls like this, itl be useless

roms, emus, android community? Can't they do it?

Chrono4051d ago

Actually there's already a tool called GameKeyboard that can map touchscreen to buttons the way you want.

DivineAssault 4051d ago

i meant new games man.. I know emus n roms can but im talking about a new phone being able to use it out of box for all the new apps in the market place.. (existing too)
