It's not uncommon for gamers to want to share their favorite video games with others. In fact, the viewing of other people's gameplay has all but turned into a spectator sport popularly known as "eSports". Currently, there is a small number of devices available to allow gamers to record or stream their gameplay footage; but none do it quite so well as the new Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition. Its quality and capabilities, though, come at a price.
T1 - Hauppauge Digital announced today support for PlayStation 4 with the latest firmware update from Sony.
Technically, PS4 now compatible with Hauppauge Game Recorders. Hauppauge didn't do anything, Sony did.
This was the case when the update kicked in rrmoving HDCP protection. So why is this news now?
I tested my HD PVR Rocket at the time. Works a charm with the PS4.
Forgive a (video capture) noob if this question seems dumb, but...why is a dedicated capture device needed?
Now that Share Factory is available with editing, commentary and music support. I understand you can even place raw footage on your PC and use any (theoretically) editor.
Then isn't it just a case of saving your work to a USB (or direct from PC), and then uploading to Youtube, or am I missing something here?
OmniGamer Writes "Hauppauge is well known for being the go-to company for a video capture device, and their peripherals are used by all types of video creators around the world. The gaming community however, stands out as the group of people who support this company the most. Almost all of the big gaming personalities on YouTube use a Hauppauge video capture device.
Their latest entry into their long line of great capture devices, the HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition looks to continue the trend of providing great hardware to capture your favorite games. The HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition contains both HDMI and component video inputs and can capture video from the PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC."
Quote me on this, next gen machine wont be needing this anymore, since MS and Sony already stated that their next gen machine is capable of recording gameplay videos in realtime.. That's one strangest thing in the world, I would say!. sarcasm/
Gamer Living's Will Anderson takes a look to see how the second generation personal video recorder form Hauppauge! stacks up.
I think we wont be needing this anymore next gen. The next gen hardware itself can record gameplay clips and share it to the world in an instant.
Completely disagree about this doing the job. I put out $150 for it and it does a weird blinking with the passthrough. Makes playing games like CoD while capturing IMPOSSIBLE. The software included is also a joke and even on my "beast" of a computer (i7 3770K, 16GB RAM, GTX 670), it starts to lag the recording. Extremely displeased.
Cool
I wouldn't mind going for a HD capture device. Right now I'm using a SD BlitzBox and it's serving me really well. Almost no complaints, after a little setup.
Just a few more months and we'll never need capture cards again hopefully. I dipped into streaming for a solid month and it was the most hassle I've ever had with technology.
bought one actually on march 5th and still can't get it to work properly....
Tech support close at 6:30PM est...
i don't get it... keeps fucking wanting to use my webcam instead of the hub.... getting very annoyed.
