PS4 ticks all the right boxes, say God of War: Ascension devs

God of War: Ascension developers from SCE Santa Monica have told us that PlayStation 4 ticks all the right boxes and will enable the studio to revisit technically demanding ideas it previously had to shy away from.

just so everybody knows, whilst getting hyped for the ps4, i tried imagining scenarios that could take advantage of the motion/move light thing on the end of the controller

and the only scenario that i could think up, was you're kratos pretending the controller in you hand is a brick, and you're beating a boss with it

- Flying planes
- Fine tuning your aim
- Quickly jerking the controller up/down to shift gears
- Move the controller left/right to lean in games
- In horror games you could slightly open doors using tilt to peek and see if there are enemies

There are a lot of different ways that it could be used in games. What I find weird though is that the Dualshock 4 also has an improved "higher sensitivity" version of Sixaxis. Why is Sixaxis needed when the controller has a far superior motion control built in? Just doesn't make sense. Anything that can be done with Sixaxis can be done much better and much more accurately with the motion control.

It is included. You get a PS4, a Dualshock 4, the new PS Eye, and a mic/headset that plugs into the controller.

Yes, I know everyone keeps spreading the same information that every PS4 comes with the camera, and I don't know where that originated, but Yoshida himself said they have not yet stated whether or not each unit will ship with it.

We saw what Sony's devs could produce on the PS3. Now I think the floodgates will open with PS4. Can't begin to imagine where they'll take the gamer.

I don't care if I have to pay as much for PS4, as I did for PS3....That's what I'm preparing for, that way, anything cheaper will be a pleasant surprise.
As I've stated in many a post before, the price here in Australia was a non-sensical $999au, & I paid that for PS3 & the only thing I could really complain about was the fact, that thanks to all the NTSC whiners & whingers, that wanted the damn thing for next to nothing, & the U.S. game journalists & media's bashups on that $599 price (as well as any & everything else, they could make up to discredit Sony) Sony made the decision to take out the Emotion Engine (PS2 custom chipset), for the PAL release, so Europeans & Australians got a gimped version that relied on emulation for PS2 b/c). That REALLY peeved me, considering it was Sony's way of making the console cheaper....Obviously that only applied to U.S. customers, as the U.S. $499 & $599, somehow equated to $899 & $999....I mean, even though the conversion rate doesn't make a lick of sense, when our dollar was about .85c to $1.00us.
But, unlike all the other whingers around the world, I would happily pay that & did, as the machine had a bunch of awesome new technologies that the competition just didn't offer (BluRay, built in WiFi, Blue tooth, which allowed Bluetooth headsets, as well as the controllers, HDMI support, & b/c, just mentioning the main ones). Had the full b/c been made available, which included the Emotion chip, I wouldn't have that small chip on my shoulder....And even though many directly blame Sony, well, I disagree & blame those pesky whiner from NTSC regions, which included many U.S. based game sites, media outlets & "so called" journo's.
Anyhow, that aside, I believe my PAL launch PS3 was worth every cent, & I wouldn't hesitate to do & pay the same again. I have 2 PS3's currently, including my original 60gig launch machine, that has suffered YLOD once, after over 3yrs of constant usage, & hasn't missed a beat again since, yet, I still hammer the poor thing. And my slim has never missed a beat, touch wood. I also have a 360, which is about my 4th, I sold the one I got near launch, as I was scared, as EVERYONE I knew that had a 360, theres were blowing quicker than them on there Friday night visits to the Vietnamese Happy Ending Hotel. Also have the Wii, & since Chrissy, a Wii-U (obviously for Zombi-U, the only half decent title available on this power & game starved, Nintendo practical joke).

I agree bro, 8gigs of GDDR5 is going to be phenominal. I think these PC nerds seem to forget the specialized piece of equipment that it is going into, & the level of genius that are building these new Sony & MS consoles, & the fact that these geniuses are building a specialized unit that is specifically designed to have games played on it. This is what they are primarily designed for.
The fully trained bunch of specialists that R&D & design these consoles, aren't some beer swilling mugs, that sit around, making uneducated, uninformed, guess & then decide to bung a few things together & put them inside a shiny box (like the PC crowd, that seem to think, because they can order parts online & turn a screwdriver, that they are suddenly experts on how to build a gaming specific rig.
The comparison is, Sony or MS being the 12 year special forces snipers, taking the shot from 2000yards away, compared with the backyard pc building clown, trying to hit the backside of there barn, with there shonkily made, coathanger slingshot.

I can't wait to get that awesome looking PS4 controller in my hands, after getting home from the midnight launch. I will be standing in line waiting to pay for my new PS4, an extra gamepad, Killzone, infamous, Watchdogs, at least, as my 1st games...add a new UFC or Fight Night to that, if EA are smart enough to get one done on launch, as well as a bunch of other games, that is certain NOT to include Ass Creed 4.

Suffice to say, I would pay $999 once again for a Sony PS console, as I am in love with the developers they have, as well as that Sony philosophy of not really having a mascot represent there machines, & not only that, they openly encourage there loyal 1st & 3rd party developers, as well as inhouse, to steer clear of just churning out more of the same on there new consoles. They never tried to twist Insomniacs arm into releasing Ratchet as a launch PS3 title & instead encouraged them to explore other avenues, in which I got the awesome Resistance series. They did the same with Sucker Punch, which in turn game me a game I actually love (when I never was interested, nor bothered with Sly Cooper), & now, they are giving me another in the awesomely great infamous as a launch title that will be coming home with me, with my PS4 at midnight on Australian launch. Also, Evolution, Sony always encouraged them to use there creative freedom, to make the game they wanted to make, & as a result, I got my favorite new racing IP, in Motorstorm, as opposed to getting another in there popular PS2 WRC series. And ND, they could have got ND to churn out a passionless Jak & Daxter sequel, but instead, obviously know how ND works, & how they like to move on from a series with new hardware, & therefore I got one of the best games series EVER made & awesome character Nate Drake.
