The sad thing is that people have been voicing their concerns for years about such insane practices. Time and time again people have been burned, and the companies that do it are smashed with a string of people that decide to take their gaming dollars elsewhere.

When people found out Sim City was going to be an online only game, people freaked out. Hell I was one of the people voicing my concerns.

You can't destroy your city with disasters and then reload it. Like pretty much EVERY sim city person does and loves doing it. Why? Because you don't control your saves.

You can't start an addition and then go, ahh man I screwed up, let me reload it from yesterday or a few hours ago or whatever.

You are beholden to the service running to PLAY a single player game. Not a multiplayer FPS, but the SINGLE player portion.

Not a one time check, but a persistent connection to EA's servers.

There were some real retards talking about how people need to grow up, this is how business works (have they seen the economy?), the 'have you tried it yet' response, to shill for EA. They talked about how this online connection was 'the future' and that you can't hold progress back. Well mfers what are you saying now (general response to those morons)?

Not every creation is progress. Were financial derivatives progress? The nuclear bomb?

Simply put not EVERYTHING new under the sun is good, nor is it 'progress'. Their 'progress' is in REALITY, REGRESSION!

It was funny they even were saying 'it would cost more to make it single player'...I was like WTF? Are you serious? It COST MORE to develop a game to be online. Not more to be OFFLINE. They have to add far more lines of code to introduce a persistent online connection, and saving games on one's hard drive or other location is literally three decades old.

If you are playing your game and you lose connection, either on your end, or on THEIR end, you're screwed and lose the progress of your game.

What they added was UNNECESSARY. It didn't add a single thing that people wanted or needed, all it did was add unreliability, grief, so on and so forth.

People shilled for EA so hard trying to claim how much better we all would be hanging from a ledge over the Grand Canyon for no reason. They tried to claim how it was in our benefit to allow this crap.

What fricking morons.

In my opinion everyone on N4G should sign this petition. Get the thing maxed out.

7 Times Games Forced Us Online (Against Our Will)

Some games force online-only measures onto people. It sucks! Especially when some titles, like these seven, 100% didn't need it.

Need for Speed as well. Here's to hope that the new one will be a return to form for the franchise.

Dead Space was the worst ruining... micro transactions in a full price game, with co op that was mandatory to get all the story and access to certain areas. Sure Rock Band was oversaturated, and Burnout was basically killed off even though it sold a ton on PS3 back in the day.

indysurfn2434d ago

Wow kudos EA! no one can kill a franchisee like you can kill a franchises.

lptmg2434d ago

Sadly, Rock Band died because of Activision shoving one Guitar Hero every 3 months

Madden Football 2006-2018 2018-?
