Oh my days....a next-gen Thief game.

Judging from the screenshots, it does look impressive, but the question has to be asked; is it next-gen impressive?

Merrill4062d ago

It certainly doesn't look next-gen, more like current gen. I have higher expectations for next-gen than what is shown here.

saladthieves4062d ago (Edited 4062d ago )

Whether next-gen impressive or not, I think it's about time we've had another Thief game.

I'm really looking forward to this!

Impressive for early console age

AngelicIceDiamond4062d ago

Well it doesn't look like it'll make it to 360 and PS3 so with that indication alone I can say it will do PC and next gen things.

Imo this game does look next gen because its on par with the PC. CD Project Red "The Witcher 3" Wont be on current consoles, probably due to limitations and the PS4 and 720 version will hopefully be on par with PC as well. Eidos Montreal is more than likely thinking the same.

Oh_Yeah4062d ago

Looks awfully similar to Dishonored...not that that's a bad thing.

snipes1014062d ago

I just care how it plays. More Thief equals more happiness in my soul.

If next gen means that I can do something gameplay-wise that I can't do now, great. Great visuals are just icing on the cake.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4062d ago (Edited 4062d ago )

Don't even care much I just want it to be good!

kesvalk4061d ago

it really doesn't matter if it's next-gen or not.

what really matter is if it will come with day 1 DLC, Microtransactions, always online and forced/focus on multi-player

i really don't care about graphics at all, but i do care about all this shit.

Love The Beatles.

OT: So only on 720, PS4 and PC? Game looks interesting ;)

Root4062d ago

I'm so happy it's unreal but I'm s******* myself at the same time

With the way some old franchises have went this gen...what if they make it....accessible and make it easier.

Gazondaily4062d ago

Yeah this is my concern too. Accessibility, a word with traditionally positive connotations but one that strikes fear in the hearts of 'core gamers.

000014062d ago

games like this typically do go more accessible for appeal reasons, but at the same time usually offer a "hardcore" mode that likens back to the original unforgiving gameplay.

SilentNegotiator4062d ago

Once bitten, twice shy. I expected Hitman to bring back the stealth splendor, but it gave us Hitman: Conviction.

I'll have cautious optimism at best.

camel_toad4062d ago

I think they did right by Deus Ex after so many years so hopefully these devs will do Thief justice.

Kingdom Come4062d ago (Edited 4062d ago )

Looking forward to more detail's. Technologically speaking, the game looks absolutely stunning.

Derekvinyard134062d ago

It's dosnt even look that bad, graphics are not everything

Jaces4062d ago (Edited 4062d ago )

From my time playing Thief I remember it was quite scary in some parts. Never did finish it but man was it a challenge and a great stealth game. Hope they don't screw it up!

psn_arakouftaian4062d ago

next gen images? not so next gen but it looks interesting..

donman14062d ago

Looks more current gen with bump up on the textures.

NYC_Gamer4062d ago

I hope the game still keeps stealth and doesn't ruin the original Thief formula

Plagasx4061d ago

It's eventually gonna go the action route as every other great franchise does...

bunt-custardly4062d ago

Can't wait for this. It's been a long time - some four years in development I believe.

first1NFANTRY4062d ago (Edited 4062d ago )

So this was the next gen game rumored to be on Game Informer April cover? Hmm doesn't quite look NEXT GEN but the concept and dark atmosphere has me intrigued.

The industry could use more assassin based games to put Ubisoft in check.

For those who don't know, Thief was made way before Assassins Creed. Some even say Ubisoft got most of their inspiration from the series.

ninjahunter4062d ago

I dont know what your expecting from next gen, Its mostly just chizzling out details, You know adding folds to a guys pants when last gen/current gen they would just be flat.

And everyone loves thief :)

sourav934062d ago

AC was possibly a mix of both thief and PoP.

rpd1234061d ago

Most of their inspiration was from PoP and the engine for AC was originally for a PoP game.

Thief - Taken From Us Too Soon

The Thief game series has had many ups-and-downs, and 2014's reboot showed a great deal of promise nearly a decade ago.

Notellin264d ago

This would be such a great franchise to reboot. A darker game than Dishonored, but focused around stealth and large scale heists from an oppressive monarchy.

That's probably my dream game. I love immersive sims and stealth!

Noskypeno264d ago

People say they hate forced stealth sections in games. But a game focused on stealth with good mechanics and level design feels refreshing from the guns blazing games which I also enjoy. I really enjoyed playing Splinter cell, a game that not many try to mimic today. Not too many games let you shoot lights out, or throw cans or bottles to distract guards. Sure there are games with stealth options like the new Wolfenstein but it doesn't feel necessary to play it that way. Hitman might be the only game that has that feeling, except for that Korean game that may or may not ever come out.

isarai264d ago

You should try the Sniper Elite games, so good, especially with coop

Notellin263d ago

Same here. I'm glad there are some other people who enjoy these types of games!

@isarai I tried Sniper Elite 5 and ended up really enjoying that one. Went back and played 4 as well!.

ModsDoBetter264d ago (Edited 264d ago )

The last one was a trainwreck and has been in the bargain bin since just after launch. If they bring it back, they need a massive change in direction.

Inverno264d ago

only direction they should take is putting it in reverse and going back to what the originals did. I couldn't finish this game, and I made a choice to never play it again. I watched a video about the og Thief and Deus Ex games and the current AAA standard will forever hold back these games. These 2 games alone had already solved so many problems with modern gaming that I don't think they'll get a chance at something great unless they're made by a dev that actually give a damn.

monkey602264d ago

Jesus the last installment sells at about 2 euro and even that is over paying for it. Absolutely diabolical game

SimpleSlave264d ago

Ups and Down? More like Up, UP, Pot Hole, Free Fall into the Abyss...

Rutaprkl264d ago

Thief Deadly Shadows remaster would be awesome.
