Well, that's disheartening to hear...

This is what one person said, who was acting more like an angry fanboy than a reasonable company executive.

I wouldn't doubt that some studios are getting paid by Publishers or even Ouya to port games, but not so many... plus as long as they are coming at reasonable prices, we shouldn't complain ;-)

a trick that won't work on me to get that machine

Ouya has to prove itself as a viable machine. Having a truly open source (and cheap) console is a pretty cool idea on paper, but I have no idea how it can play out in action.

Who gives a crap how they get games & developers on board.. I mean, nobody complained when MS were paying for exclusives & exclusive content, like the massive fail of $50 million for some extra gameplay sections in GTA4, & the like.
Not to mention MS are still paying developers for the same fickle crap....like Activision's deal with COD content coming to 360 a "Whopping whole month" before going to PS3.

As long as the thing gets good games, is all that should matter to any gamers.....the rest is all behind the scenes crap, that we neither need to know, or should care to. I mean, if Ouya gets a range of truly awesome games that are must have's on any system, & they are exclusive, well, then I'd have to think about getting one, as I just want to experience THE BEST GAMES.
So, stop worrying about why & how the system is getting support, & wait & see if developers just bombard this system with shovelware, bad smartphone conversions & such, or if the thing truly ends up a viable console choice.

I mean, anything that isn't MS or Nintendo these days, seems to cop a never ending slew of crap.

It's only important because of what it means for future support. You can't KEEP paying studios to make games for you. They have to start wanting to make games for IT, at some point.

porkChop4064d ago

Exactly. If they're only making games for the Ouya now because they're getting paid to do it, then why would they continue making games once the money stops rolling in? This is bad news for the Ouya.

The Kevin dude came off as a bit of an asshole.

Theangrybogan4064d ago

Agreed, however the whole article seems like a butthurt vent over a twitter argument, so just two douchebags going at it, nothing to see here.

Cueil4064d ago

it's worse then the twitter beef on who was the best CB in the NFL when clearly Charles Tillman wasn't tweeting either of those guys

I had the LaserActive... it was a nice collectors piece but not very practical. Especially when it came to needing recapping. I think i paid all of about $50 for the floor model from an incredible Universe back in the day. I ended up selling it many years later for $300 at the time due to it needing a new laser and the aforementioned recapping.

An honorable mention not on the list would be the VM Labs Nuon. It basically looked like any regular DVD player but it had ports on it for controllers to play specific games. one of which is still exclusive to it with Tempest 3000. It also offered nuon enhanced DVD movies with extra content not accessible by regular players.

It was announced but it never actually came out as far as I know
