Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is Now Available on PlayStation Network

In a press release, Atlus has announced that Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is now available on PlayStation Network (PSN). It is playable on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Portable.

Edit: According to a post by mochuuu, the Digital Platforms Community Manager of the PlayStation Community Forums, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment is currently NOT downloadable on either PlayStation Portable or PlayStation Vita.

In a post on PlayStation Blog, Atlus said the following: “The bad news is that unusual circumstances have prevented us from localizing Eternal Punishment PSP the way we’d have liked to…” So it appears they couldn’t port over Japan’s 2011 PSP release of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Fortunately, the digital era has come to the rescue, and now anyone can purchase and download the game.

it's unfortunate for some people. It seems that usually Japanese developers are affected by this whenever they try to localize a game very late in the life cycle of the console. They are still making psp games in Japan, while psp is slowly going out of fashion in the states.

I was surprised one company went through the trouble of doing reprints of Persona 2 for the ps1 console. I was lucky to grab a brand new copy for only 29.99.

Excellent. Now more info on my Persona 5 please!!

Cant buy it even if I wanted to. Not until I find out what SONY intends to do with my PSN purchases, going forward. I have no space for WiiU, Xbox 360, Xbox (next), PS3 and a PS4. I also have my OUYA coming so my space is limited.

Oh yes. P2 and p3 are horribly outdated and aged bad.

gold_drake631d ago

the only thing that i feel like hasnt aged well, is the slow battles. the rest is fine as is imo

pietro1212632d ago

P3 hasn’t really aged well so I can see a remake

MadLad632d ago

Persona 3 is my favorite in the series. If they wanted to redo it I'd be happy. Just make it, you know, an actual remake.
You're seeing people trying to do low effort for $70 currently.

Persona 2, more so. I want to see a more serious take on this series. 2 felt less whimsical.

I wouldn't have included the spin-offs but also 3 is way better than 4. Sure P4 did a lot of things gameplay wise that improved on what P3 was doing but P3 has a way better story and characters. Not saying P4 is bad, I loved it but P3 is easy to go back to when P4 not so much.

mezati992573d ago

P3 also had one of the greatest endings to a game ever

still, i love P4 equally as much, the persona series is just soo good

Razzer2573d ago

I agree. I liked P3 more than P4 as well. Both are still great tho.

I have to say I played persona from persona 2 to 4 and I really do think persona 3 is the best between FES&P3P, I'm not going to act like I didn't enjoy 4 but I found the darker story from persona 3 more enjoyable but any way that's my opinion. Last note my steel book copy of persona 5 is on its way I can't wait

Razzer2573d ago

nice to see others like P3 as much as I do.

Protagonist2573d ago (Edited 2573d ago )

Pretty good list. Though P3P will forever have a special place in my gaming heart, thus being nr.1 for me.

pepito2573d ago

P3 story can almost best out P4. Unfortunately it looks just way too similar to the anime Evangelion.

I feel I'm one of the few who actually played Dancing All Night(got the collector's edition when it went down to 30 bucks). I gotta say, it's surprisingly fun and I enjoyed it a lot.
