I think people are just mad that gamers actually enjoy a service like Xbox Live enough to keep paying for it, it actually increased by 15% this year, which is huge. Too bad I already bought two of these cards earlier in the year when they were only $29.99, but they only let you enter one at a time.....

I'm not a child, I pay the bill just like all my other bills. I mean I have a $5 a month checking account fee that is more than my Xbox Live bill per month.

Also, I can get television for free, but I choose to pay for premium services. It'd be like complaining about paying extra for HBO when you already pay for normal cable. Premium is premium and if you don't like it, don't buy it, there are alternatives.

I too pay my electric etc Witwicky and as you point out we both pay our internet provider for our internet access, so why are you paying microsoft exactly for your internet?
Netflix you pay for but again to access it you have to pay M$ who are not your internet provider (cable seems to be yours) if you want to pay for things like netflix etc fine but why exactly do microsoft take your internet away and expect you to pay to get it back and why do you accept it?

You can give away online play for free on PS3 but I'd rather pay to play on Xbox Live. That is voting with my wallet. My Playstation 3 has had over a year to convince me I didn't need to pay for Xbox Live and it hasn't.

I'll tell you why I care, it is the thin end of the wedge, allowing microsoft to take away your internet and forcing you to pay to get it back sets a very poor precedent for gamers there was already talk of maybe Sony following suit for the PS4 thankfully that was all it was talk but xbox owners have opened up the possibility for other factions of the gaming world EA for example to start charging for something that should be free, I'm sorry but xbox owners have done gaming no favours by accepting the M$ scam.

I just refuse. especially in this day and age where most games have a hefty online component, to be held to ransom over the content of the disc.

People complained about online passes for used games on PS3, yet the 360 has an online pass for every single game, new or used, and people lap it up and think features like cross game chat or Netflix warrant it or try to justify it with statements like "it's only x per month" or "I never pay full price for ir anyway" as it that makes it better.

It's disgusting to make people pay to:

1. Access content they already paid for.
2. Have access to their own internet
3. Charge for p2p connects.

If you can't see why this is wrong or why others are concerned and have an opinion, then Microsoft have wonderfully managed to blind you. The fact is, when they tried to charge PC owners for the same service, PC gamers just refused to pay it and Microsoft were forced to make it free, because there were alternatives, on 360? You play by their terms and, until people take a stand, they'll continue to charge.

If I get bored tomorrow or a month from now or hell, any day I feel like it, I may even buy a Wii U because it's pretty awesome to be in a position to do stuff like that.
