"North American fans of the third entry of the underrated Breath of Fire series just couldn’t seem to catch a break when it came to seeing a re-release of it. But after a recent statement from Capcom, there may be a small chance.
After several fans inquired about a digital release of the PSP version of Breath of Fire III on the Capcom-Unity forums, Capcom executive Christian Svensson replied:
“I’ll never say never, and I am looking into one way to put it back into North American circulation, but it’s a long shot. When and if I get news, I’ll let you know.”
Breath of Fire III was ported to the PSP in Japan back in 2005. The port was released a year later in Europe, but SCEA denied the game’s release in North America due to a specific stipulation on ports to the PSP that stated that a port needs to have at least 20% new content to be considered for release on the handheld. This still didn’t explain how ports of other Capcom titles like Power Stone Collection and Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX were allowed."

From Xfire: "There seems to be some sort of JRPG renaissance going on these past few years.
In addition to new entries of long-running franchises being released on multiple platforms and new IPs being introduced, some classic JRPG games are getting the love that they rightfully deserve in the form of a remake.
Case in point, Legend of Mana, and of course, who can forget the Final Fantasy 7 Remake?
But while there's a growing number of classic JRPG titles that are being remade for modern audiences, there are still far more that aren't getting enough attention and are in desperate need of a modern remake in 2021 and beyond."
Wild Arms, Xenogears, Xenosaga trilogy, Arc the Lad, Alundra, Golden Axe Warrior, FF Crisis Core, Ar Tonelico, Rouge Galaxy.
First I would like to have the originals easily available again. Than the remakes, that way it's assured that the classic version is still "gettable" in case de remake sucks or take unwanted liberties.
Xfire's list of the top 100 RPGs (role playing games) of all time, across all systems.
I haven't dug into the list, but 100 sounds more like it. Now the griping is going to come down to the top 10.
Glad to see Breath of Fire make the list.
It a forgotten IP by Capcom... it's a shame that they have abandoned it.
Wild Arms 4 and 5 should be on that list same with Xenosaga 3 and Ar Tonelico
this guy clearly isn't a big fan of western rpg's. A top 100 list with no elder scrolls or fallout games just doesn't sound right.
The top 10 RPG games of all time, according to Xfire's Murillo Zerbinatto
10 is not a good number for this type of post, there are so many great RPGs that it's almost impossible to narrow it down to 10. If it was just ARPG or JRPG then maybe we could narrow it down but RPG genre encompasses so many games.
Please, Breath of Fire III is amazing, one of my favorite RPGs
Not many games with the quality of story as Breath of Fire III out.
I imported the UK version of Breath of Fire III over here to the US when it was released, and love it to this day. Still one of my favourite games on the system. If it could be released digitally, I'd be able to play it on my Vita and love the vibrant colours on the Vita's wonderful OLED screen. :)
