Persona 4 Golden Review | EDGE

EDGE: "Making new friends – and better friends of the ones you already have – makes you stronger still. That’s quite the social message for such a singleplayer game, but Persona 4 Golden is full of surprises. Perhaps the biggest is that a console JRPG is so well suited to portable play, and that a four-year-old PS2 game is, by some distance, Vita’s best game to date."

Definitely see myself owning a Vita sometime down the road.

This one will be in my collection.

It should be, I'm 32 hours in and it's still as addicting as ever.

Persona is a great series. It's all about the balancing of the social and combat elements of the game. Keeps things fresh interesting throughout the entire experience.

While I am really not a jrpg person, Persona 3:FES ranks itself among the few titles that I truly love - Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy, Final Fantasy XII and Cloud 2.

IMO the best game on vita by far.

Didn't play Persona on the PS2, but after playing Golden I ended up buying Persona 3 & Persona 4 Arena because I was so impressed with it.

persona is ok... its for hardcore noobs. never will be better than street fighter, kof, guilty gear or even mortal kombat

Considering that Persona 4 Golden (please do correct me if I'm wrong in saying this) is a JRPG, and really quite different from the list of beat'em ups you just posted; I don't think it's really fair to say one is categorically better than the other.

Either way - great review, literally itching to pick it up!

If you're talking about Persona 4 Arena you may be right.

I don't play fighting games as I have no interest in them, so I'm not a good judge of gameplay, but I played it for the story since it was supposed to be a sequel to Persona 4. The story mode was more of a visual novel instead of a fighting game and that's the way I preferred it as I was only there for the story.

I'll have to make this a mission the next time I blow through Tokyo.

Hopefully soon, given the limited availability.

Seraphim285d ago

send me one while you're at it. I mean what's better than Whiskey and Persona? A cigar with the two, and that would be perfection personified.

Remasters And Remakes Make Up 90 Percent Of 2023's Highest-Rated Games

Only one of the games on the top ten is completely original.

90 percent of Metacrtitic's top ten highest-rated games of 2023 so far are remasters and remakes, with Hi-Fi Rush acting as the only wholly original game to make the list so far.

We might only be in March, but it seems like we've already got tons of great games to be talking about, including Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, Hi-Fi Rush, Persona 4 Golden, and Metroid Prime Remastered. There is one commonality between those games, however - most of them are remakes and remasters.

I don't usually buy Switch games until the holidays when they have the elusive sale.

dead_pixels404d ago

Can't blame you there. The bargains don't come too often on the eShop, that's for sure.

FinalFantasyFanatic403d ago

I feel like they're getting stingier and stingier, at this point, if the game is on something else, I'd rather buy it there where it's cheaper.

Already own physical versions of Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers along with digital versions of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden on Switch. Will definitely double dip if physical versions of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden.
