maybe, but Sony will want to show off something tomorrow that will appeal for everyone. BF4 for the military shooter crowd, Killzone 4 for the sci-fi crowd, motorstorm for the racing crowd, the last guardian for that crowd, etc. etc.

actually sony is going to be showing off lots of third party stuff, the reason being is that all those third party devs are gonna want in on the next generation of console gaming and they're gonna want to be there when it begins, it's a way for them to show off what they have, and what's going to be available on next gen consoles, so I'm almost absolutely sure that third party devs will be there.

It could very well happen... Sony will go beyond 1st party. With a new console, they will want to show 3rd party support, and they will want to show some of the most graphically impressive 3rd party, and BF4 and FF would be two great games to show.

The reason why they would want to show 3rd party games is to prove to everyone that the system will not suffer when it comes to graphics of those games compared to the ps3 which was really hard for 3rd parties to develop for

I was not getting the PS4 at launch this November because my PS3 has tons of life and games to get. I would wait until they have a heavy library of games before a $429.99 purchase.....BUT....if they launch this with BF4 and KZ4 in the library, I might have to reconsider. There's just too many heavy hitters this year on PS3 to warrant a purchase on a new console at this point.

BF4 makes perfect sense to be shown tonight. EA already made a statement that "they ported Frostbite to next gen" and a in house directive to use Frostbite for most of the games in their portfolio; which would mean those games will be available immediately on the next generation of machines.

@Syntax-Error. I'm with you. I wanted to wait till next year; but my excitement level is raising. Not sure if I will be able to hold off. But at the same time, my PS3 won't go anywhere anytime soon; even if I'd get a PS4. Still great games to play there, too.

I agree. They always worked with sony especially with B3. It would make no sense to release this on ps3. It will come out un November at launch and what better time than tomorrow to show a quick trailer that is running on ps4.

I think many dont realize pc games get optimized over time, heck ue3 games are more optimized on pc than on console. Drivers get updated, games get updated as well. In the case of battlefield 3 they were using the dx11 api well, anything that supports dx10 should play it. Hell Ive seen people using onboard graphics to get better than console performance. Im sure somebody will pick one of the very few games on pc that run like crap to prove a point, but 99 times out of 100 thats not the case. Console games just dont get the post release support like pc games do.

I do agree, except for the fact that the PC MP version of BF3 failed to meet or even surpass the fun BF2 brought IMO. Felt to console focused. Planetside 2 however has restored my faith in PC FPS MP. 12 man squads + larger platoons battling it out with ground and air vehicles?. Action overload.

No, It's not the same thing. Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 are the same game just re-skinned. Where as BFBC2 and BF3 are completely different. Also which were released two years apart. So let me ask you how is it "pretty much the same thing"?

with smaller maps, no editor, fewer players, canned destruction physics, and ton$ of DLC.

And the Sp was even worse than CoD.

COD, and it's annual success, has affected the whole industry. Whether you like the game or not, isn't the question. But there are plenty of changes industry wide that have infected other games, trying to emulate apparently what people like about COD. If I wanted that game, i would buy it. I do not, therefore I do not want those elements in the game I did buy. I'm also just tired of seeing them get rich off a tired strategy. Its the same thing over and over and over again, but people are more than willing to pad their pockets for what effectively is a $60 patch.

Do you know how many Battlefields have been released? CoD and Battlefield have both been milked, pushing almost 20 games including expansions (not DLC...the expansions).

I think people are too quick to judge. I knew I would get lots of disagrees, but no-one has given me a good answer. Why is Battlefield allowed to make lots of games but not CoD?
In fact, why do most games that have 3 or 4 games get called out for being 'milked', but everyone is praising this?

If you look at the progression of BF games you can see steady improvements: graphics, scale, engine, sound, maps, vehicles, etc. etc.

When you look at every CoD since Modern Warfare they have all been technically the same. I would even argue level design in MP has gotten far worse. When BF starts to use this business model of releasing the same game annually I'll have no problem whatsoever saying I'm done with the series.

For now I much prefer BF and DICE.

Except almost every weapon from BC2 is a direct copy of the same weapon from BC1. But BC2 is still a hell of a lot more fun than BF3.

If only they could make BF4 more meaty ("heavy" as BC2 is, so it doesn't feel plastic like BF3) and fun. BC2 is hectic, but never weary. BF3 gets very dull very quickly.

I think a popular trend in the coming console cycle will be multiplats that stretch across gens. Its a smart idea to maximize sales. BF4 will probably hit the last gen and the current gen with similar results as BF3 on consoles and PC.

I am seriously worried about BF4. It was way too soon that BF3 came out, and the modern FPS genre is already way oversaturated. I'm not sure BF4 will be a major improvement over BF3.

While BF3 crashed and burned early on, due to poor framerate and an unhappy core group, I think BF4 has a chance to at least challenge COD. It's really tough to say at this point.
