IGN: This morning on Twitter the #PlayStationMemories hashtag exploded in response to the impending Sony event dominating New York City today. This prompted us here at IGN to reflect on the nearly two decades of awesome, insane, and occasionally depressing moments that we've spent huddled around Sony's iconic video game console line.
Here are some of our most famous (and shameless) PlayStation moments. What are yours?
Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.
This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.
cool idea
cool idea for horror games especially
the way it's explained here sounds like it could never be forced hopefully, so that's ok with me
Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
"IGN's favorite PlayStation memories"
I remember in 06 through 10 they were completely bashing PS3. Even when PlayStation did something right they would completely overshadow it and pretend it didn't happen.
The memories :) Resistance Fall of Man :)
My favorite PlayStation memories......
FF8 opening sequence
Metal Gear Solid hallway of dead bodies, first time you see cyborg ninja
Ending my first stage with Crash Bandicoot, seeing him dance like a crackhead
Performing my first kill in Manhunt
Killing Yiazmat in FF XII
Spanking my first hoe in God Hand
Having sex with Aphrodite in GOW 3 with the girls in the background being voyeurs moaning
Importing Deadly Premonition for the PS3, what Zack ?
I swear i think your balls get bigger playing on a PlayStation.
A recent one of mine is seeing Anor Londo for the first time. Wow... My jaw collapsed. Looking further back in time and there is:
• Tomb Raider: II - Venice
• Grand theft auto San Andreas - the map was mind boggling for it's time!
• Silent Hill - The atmosphere wa intense for a PS1 title, throw in a compelling story and engaging puzzle and they made a winner.
• Uncharted 2 - The train level halfway through the single player mode. Need I say more? It was amazing. Simply incredible.
• MGS1 - Having to unplug my controller to kill €}|^+? >^¥<}\ was an immersive yet humorous addition.
• The Simpsons: Hit and Rub - don't ask why but I loved this game. I used to spend hours on it!
