DSOGaming writes: "Guru3D's member 'pusscifer' has stumbled upon a really interesting video from Obsidian's canceled Aliens RPG game. This video was uploaded Danny Garnett who has worked on Obsidian's title and did some animations for the xenomorphs."
With so much in video games having blossomed out of the first two Alien films, one can argue that the franchise belongs in games more so even than Star Wars. However, Warhammer 40k—a British miniatures game!—has more presence as a name in games. What follows is a collection of better ideas than simply letting the Alien property linger without new releases, as has been the case since 2014.
From VG247: "During development for Alpha Protocol, work also began on Aliens: Crucible, a cancelled RPG from developer Obsidian.
“Aliens: Crucible was really sad to see cancelled, but I don’t blame Sega for it,” writer Chris Avellone told VG247 during Reboot Develop. “It would be like – this is going to be really rough comparison – basically Mass Effect but more terrifying."
And we couldn’t get this but we sure got Colonial Marines because...?
PSA:
Last week, Volition unleashed a fully playable prototype of Saint’s Row: Undercover, a former PSP game that was cancelled some time ago. That got me thinking, since there’s been a butt ton of games that have been cancelled in the past, could there be other titles released in a similar fashion?
Lol, looks like they were using a dog for the crawling animations.
Nice find. Is that all the info you could find on it?
I love Obsidian, RPGs and Aliens, its such a shame this got cancelled.
I really love these kinds of videos, I watched one a while ago that was a proof of concept video for a Road Rash remake/revival, I think its easily found on youtube.
I don't have to say the name but everyone els knows what Aliens game should of been canceled as well.
that's some quality animation, just imagine had it been completed.
