The fact that Last Of Us has been delayed is good news for those who can wait a bit: The Last of Us has in fact "the longest campaign, the Naughty Dog has ever created."

Back in the "good old days," we measured gameplay time in the HUNDREDS of hours.

BTW longest game doesn't always mean fun or great game. It's ND so it will be amazing but that's not always the case. I had more fun laying vanquish than many of the long games

Some games, like Uncharted, is perfect at around 7-8 hours. It's long enough that the game doesn't abruptly end *cough* Kane ad Lynch 2! *cough*, the story doesn't drag or rush, and the ending leaves you satisfied and wanting for the next.

Awesome indeed. They could probably release it now and get rave reviews, but the fact that they want more time to make it even better is typical Naughty Dog. They are perfectionists. If you listened to what they said they had to go through with Uncharted 3 to get as much detail as possible, it amazes you. They won't settle for 'good enough', they want 'perfect'.

Too bad other developers/publishers don't take the extra time for polish (Sega.Gearbox. Aliens. Nuff said).

Considering it took me 9-12 hours to beat Uncharted games, that's really good news.

I'm looking forward to see how they build complexity as the levels progress.

From what I've seen (the demos), the game can be quite complex with soo many options (guns, melee, flaming Molotov, etc) . I'd like to have some time to play w/ each "option" before I get thrown into a mess where I can use everything at it's full potential.

We know but it seems unlikely Last of Us was going to be 16+ hours long(roughly Jak 2's length with some collection but not 100%). If it's over 16 hours long then that's great I guess. Jak 2 managed to have a good story at that length and so can Last of Us. However, it just seemed like Last of Us was going to be a linear heavily story based game which suggests it would 9-10 hours long, maybe a few hours longer like Golden Abyss was.

These guys are so talented that i believe if naughty dog ever wanted to create a game that could be a VERY HUGE SUCCESS for them, I say they should also create an fps game on the ps4. I think GOTY will be a tough one to choose for me this year, with TLoU, GoW:A, Ni No Kuni, Beyond, Tearaway, Killzone, Bioshock, GTA, Remember Me, Rayman Legends and Plants VS Zombies 2. Its just insane how many top tier games are cramped into this year, and that's just counting up to September.

I got a PS3 at launch, but only just purchased Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 a couple of weeks ago. After Uncharted I wasn't that fussed on the series, or any other NaughtyDog titles. Of coarse I now know I was wrong. The evolution of Uncharted games is amazing to see. The first game wasn't poor, I just felt that it was lacking a bit but 2 and 3, Wow. I am really looking forwards to The Last of Us.

According to HowLongToBeat.com Jak II is around 20 hours on average. For them to say it's "by far" their longest game means it's a significant difference. I'm guessing maybe around 25 hours then? With the added multiplayer, that's actually really good.

I think the main problem with Listen Mode is that it doesn't fit the game. In Batman he has all types of gadgets and stuff, so it kinda makes sense, in Splinter Cell you also have all types of gadgets so it somewhat makes sense. Even in Hitman where you're a trained assassin, it makes sense for Agent 47 to have those sort of instincts.

But in The Last of Us? It just doesn't fit the game at all, and feels very out of place. I'm glad that it's optional, but just the fact of knowing that the feature is there for you to use at any time, it seems like it will break immersion. I mean the game is all about survival, so putting in the option of a feature that's basically a cheat just goes against what the game is all about.

So while I do agree that's a good to have options, there are some options that just don't belong. Hopefully the harder difficulties completely disable the feature because I don't even want the temptation of using it.

I don't think it was added for stylistic reasons, but for practical reasons.

If you have a good sound system, you probably won't need it, you'll be able to hear the sounds and attempt to visualise them yourself.

People using TV speakers or whatever, don't have that luxury and, as such, need a way to actually play the game.

Listen mode is listening for the enemy.It isn't a gadget or a super power.It simply is a gaming ability so you know where the enemy is at all time. You people keep comparing it to games where you can shoot your way out or deploy about a dozen weapons to get you out of a situation.Last of Us you have a handful of bullets and a stick or two or a homemade shiv. It isn't like Splinter cell where you have night vision or Batman where you can swing up into the rafters and get a better view.You have to stay on the ground floor.

I am not certain why everyone want them to give you nothing. In game were your next step could be your last do you want a whole bunch of cheap deaths? Just walk in on a clicker and he kills you if you are not ready? Or make a noise so every single enemy can hear you before you even notice them? It is not Dead space, Batman, MGS4 or Splinter Cell where if you are discovered you have an arsenal of weapons to take everyone out.You have a whole bunch of junk and barely a handful of bullets so if any monsters or people hear you it you could easily be overwhelmed in a second.

You are not wearing armor or have super powers or anything but people just want to walk around in the game where you could die in seconds from an attack not knowing where anything is. How exactly do you plan to make strategy if you are blind to where anything is? Where all it takes is a single slip up for a clicker or runner to hear you? Think about what you are complaining about before you complain about it. Would you prefer a whole bunch of trail and error and cheap deaths? And if they did that people would complain about that too.How do you know it doesn't fit before you play the game or how much it will give you an advantage over the enemy. Batman could literally see through walls and I still got gunned down and seen constantly.What makes you think that using this will make it that much easier for you to get away? It really didn't make Batman that much easier at all.

I don't think you understand what it is. It's just a visual representation of what you hear. It's not some kind of superpower, unless you think hearing is a superpower. You can't see the enemies that aren't making any noise.

I own all the Crash games and Jak games. I love both of those franchises, I'm not saying any of them are bad games I'm just stating a fact. If you play through all the Crash/Jak games you can complete each one in under 10 hours.

I have read on gamefaqs.com on the ffx forum that someone has played over 1000hours in ONE playthrough,me,myself is soon on 300hours and im not even half done with the extra stuff that I want do on ffx.
the problem with the current gen consoles is that they make better graphics,but ALOT shorter gameplay then last gen.

and even on ps1 with games like ff7,ff8 ff9 you can easly play more then 100hours in 1 playthrough.
